STARRBABY'S BLOG

Starrbaby

Throwing my reason onto the pile.
Thursday, September 29, 2005

There have been multiple blogs posted from poor souls who won't be able to see the BDM on opening weekend. I decided to join in on the rant.
While most people's reasons are unavoidable, such as having to work . . . .mine is self inflicted.
I can't stand to leave my boys yet. They're only 2 weeks old today, and I don't think I could enjoy the BDM for constantly wondering if they are okay. Maybe next weekend.

Glad to hear all three of you are doing so well! Brava Starrbaby! Although I'm thinking you should change your username to StarrMomma!

Yeah, they're too young to leave, even for a few hours. You might well try taking them to a showing, though, if you feel up to it. Could you and DH and babies all go together to a weekday matinee, when the theater is likely to be quite empty?

I took my son to a movie when he was 5 weeks old, and he just nursed or slept through the whole thing. An older baby will startle and cry at loud noises that a really young baby might sleep right through.

If one of them does start to wail, you could send him out with Daddy to pace the lobby until he settles. That way you get to see the whole thing, and DH could always come back alone to another showing.

And if any of the other moviegoers gives you any grief about being there with babies, well, you can be sure they aren't true Browncoats.

Really, if you're feeling well enough for the outing -- go for it! Even if it proves to be a disaster, it will make such a funny story to tell your boys when they are older. And if it goes well -- hey, you get to see a great movie, and that's always a good thing.

I couldn't leave them either.

How are the wee bairns doing, anyway? And how are YOU?

JACQUI

I think, out of all the reasons I've heard so far... yours is the most important.

Who *would* want to leave the newborns? Really?

Do they have mums and bubs sessions in your area? The cinemas do around here. Every Wed morning, the first session is catered for parents who bring babies and very young children. That way no one feels self conscious if their kid makes noise.

Not sure if it'd be appropriate for 2 week olds, though, their ears might be a little tender. It's a loud movie.
