A Little Tai Chi in the Morning
Tuesday, August 9, 2005

Where I live we have a pretty large asian population. In fact, the closest grocery store to me is a Lion Market (totally asian market)...tho the Safeway is just beyond it. Anyway, almost every morning this summer as I've left for work, there's been a group of older asian folk practicing tai chi out in one of the common areas.

Now, I don't think I'd have felt this way before Firefly, but the music's very calming and tai chi is incredibly graceful. I seriously think that, in many ways, Firefly's made me a bit more tolerant of asian cultures. I have a little bit more appreciation for it when I see it.

hee hee. Very amusing TGJ! I also love chai. I'll drink it hot or cold.

I like some chai tea in the morning, is that similar? The phonetics are similar at least (tie chee, chie tee).

I've always wanted to try it because it looks so relaxing.

Go try it out and bring us a report.

ooh, I've always wanted to do the thing with the swords (have no idea what it's called). It looks so interesting.

And how do you know they don't speak any english?

And can you get me some good tofu? I miss my korean market in Fl.

HMmm, might be. Whenever I walk past them, they're using these wooden (I think) swords. Not quick like or anything...very slow and calmly.

I have been, but know no more Chinese than the little flash cards I've made from the Finding Serenity book.

Dong ma? ;)
