Now I Know How the Rest of the World Feels
Friday, March 25, 2005

So I now know how the rest of the world feels when we get a first-run series and get to talk all about it and they only get to visualize it and wish they'd seen it too.

Some of you already know what I'm talking about. After nearly a 16 year absence (mean, I was 12 at the time), DOCTOR WHO IS FINALLY RETURNING TO TELEVISION! Thanks to SimonWho, who has posted much info about the new series here, I've been able to see some pretty amazing stuff on the new series at the BBC's website! Wow. I don't even know where to start. There's almost a kind of...and I don't know that I'll explain this well...Farscape feel to the trailer and I'm hoping that comes out in the show too.

Gone are the days of floppy costumes and six dollar (pound?) budgets! The new series looks incredible and I cannot wait to hear about it. I really want to find someone in the UK who is willing to tape or convert to DVD-R the episodes. I really really really want to see them!

But here's what I want to know: How are they going to transition from the 8th Doctor to the 9th Doctor? Do we get to see that at all? And will the episodes be structured the same way? Old way - there'd be 13 stories a season that each have 3-4 episodes. New way - the website says 13 episodes...but will it all be one large storyline?

I recommend Shareaza because it's free, it's open source, there's no spyware, adware or anyothersortofware and it hooks up into not just torrents but also other fileshare networks like eDonkey and Gnutella.

Actually, I was just thinking...how much technology has advanced since the last McCoy ep. Cell phones, internet, all that stuff!

I do have broadband, but I don't have bit.torrent technology...do those sites use it?

Well, if you have broadband, I'm certain episodes will be online within hours of being broadcast. You could use something like Shareaza or Easynews to download them.

So far as I understand, Rose is from Earth at more or less our present.

I'm curious about the companion...Rose is from Earth, right, not an Earthling from another planet? Is she from our time? Future? Past?

I assume we'll just take the new doctor as the doctor...no s'plaining...
