Serenity's Solar Panels

What are they used for, alternative power to reduce strain on the engines? And why do they only apear on one side of the ship? Maybe the Alliance requires all vessels to fly in a clockwise orientation around the sun when in sytem. I was just looking at the picture on the main page and started wondering, so if anyone knows please feel free to say.

DRACOS

The two Ive got in the que right now are one set between "Trash" and "The Message" and involves Jayne having to hunt down some crabs that got aboard while Serenity was taking on cargo on an Alliance pleasure world while dealing with the remnants of his back injury. Hijinxs ensue. The other is Im thinking going to involve River and Simon getting nabbed by the feds while trying to sneak into their father's funeral or something. Does anyone remember any previous peices like this? I havent looked around that hard.

CHANNAIN

We want to see more of quality writing that continues the story, or maybe fills in some of the gaps from existing episodes. Keep the characters' voices true, the plots twisty, and the humor Firefly-apropos and you can't go wrong. Oh, and keep a beta reader on call. Sometimes a different pair of eyes will see or *hear* something that didn't occur to you, and I don't mean just the grammar stuff either. I mean that pesky paragraph that's trying to say something and just refuses to make itself clear...okay, that was a self-directed rant, sorry. Last, but not least, for the love of God, if you do nothing else, please use the spell check!

The thing about Jayne is he's very tactile. He has to be touching and eating everything. I've found his voice to be one of the most difficult to 'hear' when writing Firefly fanfic. He's very kinetic. Very action oriented. It's easier for me to think in Wash's head. Jayne's a skin I find cumbersome to climb into. Others may have better success.

However, I strongly suggest you write what most appeals to you; what you most feel you need to get out of you. Don't worry about public opinion. That's for fiction designed to withstand marketing. Fanfic is as much for the writer as for the reader. Cheaper than therapy. =)

I wont annonce them until theyre done just to keep the disapointment down. It shouldnt be too hard for me to get going though since its a pre-created world, if I have to come up with my own setting then everyting grinds to a halt. Thanks for the input so far.

LADYJAYNE

I'll second that for the "Jayne-centric" fic.

Have actually been thinking about throwing something together myself, but all I have is one really good line. It needs a plot and some characters to go with it. heh.

Hey, Dracos. Good on you to write for us! I'll say be brave and write whatever needs out of your head, whatever makes your heart thump a little faster. Though, personally, I'll read anything, especially if its Jayne-centric, don't know why but he's under my skin. Good luck, and hey- whatever you decide to write, just finish it ok? We've all been dissapointed before, and you know how that feels. Keep flying!
