First it was the ex wife. Fine. Gals have an ax to grind.

Then it was Ray Fisher. Some suspected a Jessie Smollett style power move.

Then Joss was removed from HBO project, The Nevers.

Now this.

Know what's missing in all these ' my truth ' stories ??

Facts.

Joss was mean. OK. Got it. He was a d-bag to Charisma. Fair enough. But as much as I love Joss getting his due... how is he all that different than others in Hollywood ?

If he was boinking these girls, and making him do "stuff" to stay on the show... OK then, but that's not what I'm hearing.

1. Give it a minute, I'm quite sure there's more. It's clear he was always like this.

2. He's NOT any different, which is still sad...and stupid. Now all he has is a tarnished legacy.

3. Why are you still trying to defend it, either way? NO ONE should have to put up with that nonsense. Your ego REALLY tied into his THAT DAMN MUCH??

That didn't take long.

I'm not defending anything or one. All I did was ask for the facts.

Now, that he has 4 former actors of his coming out and talking about this... pretty damning. Especially since Joss was all about the whole ' Grrl power' thing.

Not every guy is a Harvey Weinstein. ( who was 'adored' by the women in Hollywood because they pretty much had to, to keep a job ). Some are Morgan Freeman, who were wrongly accused of being ' overly flirtatious'. Yeah, some men like women. Got it.

We've heard stories about Joss. Ex wife said he used to sleep around ... with actresses. It's no secret he surrounded himself with a very attractive female cast. I think it's not too far fetched to ask... were any on the show because of their casting couch abilities? Because that would be... extremely problematic.

Joss ( unknowingly ) insulted young girls who had survived cancer, in a lame attempt to make a political jab. They were in HIGH SCHOOL, Joss, FFS. But even if they weren't cancer survivors, it was still a monumental dickish thing for him to do.

But I've not heard any specifics on with whom Joss cheated, and the circumstances. So I won't play the speculation game.

We do now have 4 saying he's a tyrant on the set. Folks in all areas have tyrants in their lives, for some periods, as bosses, teachers, etc... it's not uncommon.

I was a fan. Obviously. Of his work. Certainly never of his politics. My view of him started taking a turn to the negative before Serenity even came out. But I mostly brushed it off ... 'Hollywood' and all.

Ahhh, the good ol days.

Anyways, it seems his name is Mudd. Will more come out ? Will things get worse for him? No idea.

It only sounds like it to you. Asking for facts is simply asking for facts. How is it that your default position on ALL matters is to make something an ad hominem crusade against someone who in YOUR mind has at some point of your life aggrieved you in some fanciful way ?

Honey,( I say now in a condescending tone ) this ain't about you or me. Get over it.

I don't know WHAT he did. Sorry, but I draw some distinction between ' mean things ' , being an a-hole ' and depriving someone of their rights through force or fraud.

If it's just the former, then fine. If he's done more, say on a Harvey Weinstein or Bill Cosby level, is your attitude still gonna be ' move on '?

Never mind, I don't care. But I think most others would like to know exactly what he's done before he's #Cancelled.

I don't even need facts. Facts are hard to come by in a he said she said situation. However, specifics would make this situation a lot more easier to define. People say he was mean on set. OK well that has a wide range of possibilities. Did he yell at people when they were late or forgot lines? Did he physically assault people? Did he take away the snacks on set? Like there's all sorts of things that could be considered mean and some of them are awful and some of them are tiny slights. I don't like my office manager because she orders the breakfast tacos that I don't like. I might call her mean but if someone knew why they might not care too much.

Charisma claims she was fired for getting pregnant though they actually bent over backwards to work the pregnancy into the show. They could have written her out pretty easily but they didn't. So, while that's her opinion and I don't think she's lying, I kinda doubt that it's the whole truth. Joss called her fat behind her back. OK but Joss is sarcastic almost all the time. He could look really bad if people read his words in print out of context.

That being said a lot of people seem to not like him. So, there's a darn good chance he's difficult on set. Still there seem to be a lot of other people who enjoy working with him. I mean do you think anyone acted in Much Ado About Nothing because they were expecting a huge payday? That whole production seemed like a bunch of actors getting a chance to just do something they enjoy. Actors have talked about how they meet at Joss's house to read Shakespeare on weekends for fun. Are we really going to pretend they're all just pretending because they think he'll make them rich?

I've had horrible bosses but I've also been able to get along with them just fine outside of work. Having a bad management style doesn't make someone a monster. I'm sure he's not perfect. I'm not sure he's evil just yet.

To add more confusion Anthony Stewart Head says he wasn't aware of any of it.

So, if it was a really toxic work environment then you'd think everyone would know. So, now it's more that he may have had his public image and maybe he was just cruel to certain people behind closed doors.

See, 'facts' make a difference in the story. In how we assess what really happened, and what was either blown out of proportion or may have been a valid problem.

( Umm, we see this in the political world too, but I digress )

And now I can't believe I'm saying this, but why does it matter that Anthony is saying he didn't see anything ? Maybe how Joss treated him, and older male English actor, was different than how he treated younger attractive women in their 20's.

Harvey Weinstein's antics were an open secret in Hollywood for many years. So the claim that ' if he had done something really bad, why didn't anyone say something then? Why didn't they just walk away ? ' seems incomplete. This is the age of #MeToo, #TimesUp, etc... but that may have exactly zero to do with Joss and his history.

So he's not saying it didn't happen, just that he didn't see it.

Sounds like he's shaken up a bit. 3 of his co-workers took sides against Joss, and it seems he wasn't aware ( or claim he wasn't ) of there being an issue.

I guess ' I dint see nuffin ' is the best Joss has for a 'defense' from others on his show.

* Speaking of those who didn't have issues with Joss, the Much ado about nothing folks, maybe Joss simply had a 'cool kids' group, a pecking order, that he preferred some over others. Seems Sarah was a bit of a diva, as has been mentioned here, I believe, and she didn't exactly get along with Charisma, yet here both are, taking sides against Joss. Might be something to that. I dunno.

** Would it be a safe bet that those who Joss favored, the 'cool kids ', might have been what he considered the more serious actors? Not just pretty faces for TV ?

Just a random thought.

This is sort of the impression I'm getting. That Joss was probably not too kind to people he felt weren't putting a serious effort into acting. That's total speculation because we don't have any details. The most detailed thing I've heard is James Marsters saying Joss backed him up against a wall one time and told him that he didn't care what the fans thought that Joss was still going to kill him off. Which is inappropriate for sure, but like does anyone think Joss could take James in a fight? Super unlikely. So, I doubt Joss was seriously threatening a physical altercation. It just sounds like Joss is very intense about his writing and his ideas for the show. He clearly doesn't like having to change his vision. Not in Buffy, not in Angel, not in Avengers. Those are always the times when he's the most visibly frustrated. Clearly he doesn't handle it well and that's not ok. It's something he should work on. But if that's all of it then I don't think he should be shunned from society.

Now there's this: https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/michelle-trachtenberg-says-rule-bu
ffy-041530998.html

Again inappropriate with a teenage girl can range from criminal "lock him up and throw away the key" to yelling at someone who is too young to handle it. Again details are really important but no one seems to want to go into detail.

I don't know, Michelle, WAS there such a rule? Are you trying to say something by not actually coming out and stating it as a fact? You were 15 or what ever, didn't anyone TELL you there was a rule ?? To reassure you ?

And this word - again . This implies he was, at some time, and was now longer allowed to be alone with her.

What. Actually. Happened ??

She said " So now. People know. What Joss. Did. ". No, we really don't ! Was he mean, say bad things, or did he cross some very specific lines ?

It doesn't even remotely matter the reason, no one should be putting hands on anyone that works for a person in that manner, and even actors are allowed to NOT have to detail publicly things that made them feel humiliated. It's not like the details are suddenly more provable when spoken. There IS enough of a cohesive pattern to make it clear to people that aren't looking to make a justification that Joss was a dick... and possibly a criminal dick.

There are things that happened to me as a kid that I have never spoken about either. Which is MY LIFE AND MY RIGHT.

END OF.

I guess I'm just not willing to say someone should be exiled from society because they're just a dick. There are lots of dicks I work with every day. I would appreciate if they would be a little nicer, but I can learn to put up with them.

Now if someone is physically abusive that's a whole different story. That I would support keeping him out of the director's chair.

To me the details of what they're accusing him of are important.

I sense universal agreement here.

And it's in the details which may or may not come out that determines how Joss is ultimately viewed and judged.

This reminds me a bit like the Bobby Knight situation. Ass of a man, arrogant, insufferable and insulting, but there are those who absolutely adore him as a coach. They felt his demeanor and harsh attitude was a mark of greatness. Endure his wrath, do what he asks of his players, and you'll be a better man for it. The boot camp mentality of it all either breaks or bonds you.

Oversimplification ? Probably, but I've yet to see anyone come out in full on support for Joss. Anthony Head's " I didn't see nuthin " comments fall far short. But we'll see.

Tagline says it all really.

"Casually cruel’ is a perfect way of describing Joss,” “Firefly” writer Jose Molina wrote in a tweet Friday evening, adding the #IStandWithCharisma hashtag. “He thought being mean was funny. Making female writers cry during a notes session was especially hysterical. He actually liked to boast about the time he made one writer cry twice in one meeting.”

Add Eliza to the list.

https://www.vulture.com/2021/02/eliza-dushku-supports-charisma-carpent
er-joss-whedon-claims.html

She goes on to say that failing to point out the “power/gender/sexual/racial abuse” in the entertainment industry only enables abuse and abusive systems, and thanks Carpenter for her courage. “It starts and will end because of courageous truth-tellers like you. I admire, respect, and love you,” Dushku concludes.

Carpenter posted a lengthy statement to Instagram on February 10, alleging that Whedon was frequently “mean and biting, disparaging about others openly, and often played favorites, pitting people against one another to compete and vie for his attention and approval” on the set of Buffy.

So Joss has a thing about making young females cry and feel subservient to him, huh?

Which makes perfect sense as to why he essentially called a group of young HS girls who survived cancer hookers , but not really hot ones, as a round about way to insult then President Trump.

Summer was on both Angel and Firefly. The next youngest woman was Jewel, who had been in the business for some time already. I wonder what their opinions are on all this, or if like Anthony Stewart Head, they also didn't see nuffin.

I'm guessing Joss never tried to intimidate Nathan or Adam.

Again, I guess we'll just have to wait a few days and see what else comes out.

Again.

*
His original tweet, which has now been deleted, read: 'Tonight on White House Wife Hunt, Donny makes host P. Ryan give 2 more contestants the 'Not a 10 card'.'

However, the message was immediately criticised with social media users suggesting his comment was 'cruel' and 'sexist' and showed him being 'out of touch'.

To recap -

White House Wife hunt ( aimed the President Trump )
'Donny' ( mocking Donald J. Trump )
Host P.Ryan give(s) ,.. ( Yes, a swipe at Spkr. Ryan. )

Maybe you're confused with the OTHER time Joss attacked P. Ryan when he said he'd like to see a Rhino ass rape him to death with his horn.

Sounds like something YOU'D enjoy, don't it? Not sure the rhino would care to be a part of any of that though. Blech.

Just remembered, there was a subplot in an episode where Cordelia was trying out for a commercial, and the director told her to put on this tiny bikini. He treated her like dirt, said she needed to lose weight ( she was nearly skin and bones ) , barked at her and basically threatened to fire her if she didn't cater to his every demand.

Just like Joss.

Angel shows up on set, nearly breaks the director in half, which leads to Cordelia getting fired.

Don't remember which episode this was, but I'm thinking early on in the series, when she was still a struggling actress.

Were the writes so lacking in self awareness, or did they think this was funny, making an episode of a dick head director and basically white knighting for women, when they were doing all this and more on their own set.

Freaking sick mofo's.

And hilarious how after being shown to be wrong, you still insist you're right.

And yeah, the last 4 years we had 1 fake dossier , a fake investigation, fake FISA warrants over imaginary issues, a fake whistleblower, a fake impeachment, a fake election, followed by another fake impeachment, from the folks who had a Senator who had a CCP spy on her staff for 20 years, and another Congressman ( same state , too ) who was literally sleeping with the enemy.

But that's for another thread, in an entirely different forum.

It seems almost like folk forget that Joss was going to kill off Jayne, at the end of Ariel.

And how Inara was re-cast, and the cast learned not many re-shoot were needed, because of how Joss filmed her scenes - and they learned how devious he was.

I remember Inara was recast , and that she was gonna be killed off in the next season, if not earlier, but Jayne? That's news to me.

As for who Joss was schtooping, I can credit Gary @ Nerdrotic for finally giving out a name. Eliza Dushku.

Alleged, of course, and no idea who else, if any, from the show. But Gary was there at many a Con where both Joss and Eliza were at panels and Mrs. Nerdroctic thought Joss and Eliza were gonna hop on each other right there.

As for the Michelle Tractenberg issue that Joss never be alone with her in a room, IDK if that's entirely the whole story. Some are saying that it wasn't a Joss only thing, but that NO males were allowed to be in a room solo with young Ms Tractenberg. Now, was that because of something Joss DID, and a blanket 'all men' deal was made, to cover their bases? Or was that simply studio policy for any young, underaged actress ? I know that the implication is there, but again, we're really lacking any significant details here. I can see why no one is talking, because any criminal investigation could ruin individual careers ( other than Joss ) as well as sink the studio for liable.

Damn, I hate this chit.

But back to this topic, where have the FIREFLY crew been?

Remember, Nathan made Stana cry on CASTLE. I wonder what all THAT was about. Anyone know ? I hope Nathan didn't pick up any of Joss's bad traits. Nathan seems like a pretty stand up guy, right?

There's a senior executive where I work who has made multiple men cry in meetings. People love to laugh about it in the break room. I'm not sure if this is specifically a woman thing or just jerks in power enjoying making underlings cry. Either way it's not good but if it's sexist as well that's pretty low.

Amy Acker said she supports people speaking their truth but also that she had a good, professional relationship working with Joss. So, it's not just a woman thing.

It's a stupid saying for sure. I hope that it's supposed to mean telling the truth about their personal experiences. At least that's how I read it.

I think it's one of the few things that people can say when they didn't experience anything the people are talking about. Like well if that's true I support you but I didn't experience anything like that. Seems like there's a few people who had bad experiences with Joss and others who are just like "wait what I thought everything was cool? but yeah totally support you guys if you had a bad experience".

I think about all we can conclude is that Joss doesn't run a completely toxic set where everyone is miserable. It seems he targets specific people and does something vaguely bad to them. He does these things in private so no one else can corroborate the information. Which only makes it more frustrating that things are so vague.

The thing I think is interesting in all of this is it started with that justice league guy who seemed to imply it was a race issue. So far not a single person has mentioned Joss being racist. So, while he may have been treated badly like some of these others. It doesn't seem like it was a racial issue.

His biggest beef, I think was not wanting to say ' Booyah '. Somehow, he has managed to turn THAT into something racial, which is stupid on so many levels, but also has zero to do with Joss. Lacking any specific details, IDK what Joss is supposed to say, other than some generic - I tried his best to get the most out of his crew and if he went too far, then I'm sorry , type of apology.

Yeah I think Joss is in a no win situation with trying to deny things right now. He can't deny that he ever did anything that vaguely upset anyone. Best he can do is say he never intended to hurt anyone's feelings and that if he got too intense on set that he's sorry and he'll work to do better. That won't be enough for the people out for blood. So, why say it?

I think he's hoping the whole thing will blow over. That's not going to work either.

Maybe the best move is to say "hey I clearly screwed up. I'm inviting everyone who's worked with me to send me a list of grievances so I can systematically go through them and learn from my mistakes. I never wanted to hurt anyone and I'm ashamed that I didn't realize what I was doing this whole time. I will work with anyone who will work with me to become a better person." Something like that might work. Then he'd need some people to take him up on the offer and he'd have to somehow convince them to publicly claim he's better now. Then he might have a career again. Or he could just retire with the millions I'm sure he's already made.

Yep, I agree. Is it Louis C.K., Harvey level stuff ? Was it propositions, suggestions, or demands ?

And I still can't get a straight answer if the 'Joss rule' of not being alone with Ms. Trachtenberg, applied to Joss only, or all males on the set. And was it in place before she came on board, or was it something which was done after an incident. I'd think that a production company would have safeguards in place , but then again, this was the late 90's, early '00s.

And why now ? What's the end game for Charisma and the rest of the gang ? Where do we go from here? - to quote a line from OMWF.

The Rise and Fall of Joss Whedon, and the Myth of the Hollywood Feminist Hero

“I hate ‘feminist.’ Is this a good time to bring that up?” Joss Whedon asked. He paused knowingly, waiting for the laughs he knew would come at the creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer making such a statement. It was 2013, and Whedon was onstage at a fundraiser for Equality Now, a human rights organization dedicated to legal equality for women. Though Buffy had been off the air for more than a decade, its legacy still loomed large; Whedon was widely respected as a man with a predilection for making science fiction with strong women for protagonists. Whedon went on to outline why, precisely, he hated the term: “You can’t be born an ‘ist,’” he argued, therefore, “‘feminist’ includes the idea that believing men and women to be equal, believing all people to be people, is not a natural state, that we don’t emerge assuming that everybody in the human race is a human, that the idea of equality is just an idea that’s imposed on us.”

I like how the writer pretends that Dollhouse was some how glorifying the dolls being sent out as prostitutes. The whole show was about taking down the evil organization that did such things. They were very obviously not the heroes. The hero was the woman who fought through intense brainwashing to destroy her oppressors. The show had its issues with compelling storytelling, but the plot was still about a strong woman breaking free of a terrible situation.

I've read the Joss Whedon Wonder Woman script and this is mostly the same sort of cherry picking. Acknowledging a woman is beautiful is not anit-feminist. Look at some of the outfits Patty Jenkins put Wonder Woman in for 1984. The slit in her dress goes so far up she's basically wearing a bikini. Men are constantly shown hitting on her. It's much the same stuff but the movie is currently praised as empowering. However, if people want to tear it down they'll flip the script and claim it shows men are allowed to catcall women.

Another thing that I just remembered about the Charisma Carpenter pregnancy thing is that it was during Season 4 of Angel. Which means it's the season when Joss was involved in the final season of Buffy, starting and fighting for Firefly, and still helping out with Angel. Though from what I've read in the past Joss was not very involved with Angel that season due to the other shows. So, maybe there's a reason her agents couldn't get on the phone with him to talk about her pregnancy. Maybe talk to one of the producers or the network or any episode director or a writer or anyone else who could have gotten the word out. It also doesn't make it right for Joss to take it out on her, but it's easy to understand him being upset that he's working on so much and then has to throw out a bunch of scripts and rewrite. Lots of people lash out when they're stressed. If Joss apologized and regrets it that says a lot. If he didn't that says a lot too. I guess we'll have to wait for those details.

I didn't follow Dollhouse all that closely, but did ANY of the 'actives' get used as prostitutes? My take was that they were all sorts of different role playing parts, from secret agent, to corporate big wig and yeah, maybe 1 or 2 times, for entertainment. Sounds to me like the author didn't even watch the show, just read up about it and assumed from the title that it was some sort of high end prostitution program. cringe.

Good points about the timing and Joss's involvement with 3 shows. At the same time. Was this when he was also banging Eliza ? ( allegedly )

I can't say this excuses Joss, because we still don't have an accurate portrait of what really went on.

IIRC the Pilot episode had that assignment, possibly implied heavily.
Later, towards the end of the show, that sort of assignment was mentioned, or alleged, or implied when we were learning how evil the Corporation was, the Contracts were, and how they used that assignment type to punish/demoralize those Dolls who were becoming uncooperative, becoming aware, not successfully wiped fully.

However, I do recall thinking the ads and trailers drummed up that concept repeatedly.

Dollhouse started in 2009 I think, after Eliza and Joss brainstormed it over coffee or lunch. Did they know each other in 2002?

Well, Hollywood is obsessed with actors being slim, so I can see how it would be a thing in that industry. It's all about image and what the camera sees. And Joss, from all accounts, does seem to have a thing for the really attractive, fit looking cast. It's pretty obvious. The less attractive folks tend to be the comic relief or villains in the shows.

I'm no Joss superfan like my younger brother who got me to watch Firefly is. I couldn't stand Buffy/Angel and used to make fun of it when my younger brothers watched it. Years later after he got me to watch Firefly and I loved it, he unsuccessfully tried to get me to watch that online musical he did and I couldn't watch more than a minute of it before I said no. To be fair, the only Musical I would ever watch is Little Shop of Horrors. I couldn't even sit through the South Park Movie and I freakin' love South Park.

But he did Firefly and Cabin in the Woods, and those were awesome. I even enjoyed Dollhouse when I gave that one a shot and think it was a shame it didn't go on longer.

I think Joss is a great artist, and is capable of making a little something for everybody. You might not like everything he ever puts out, but chances are really good that you're going to really like something in his catalog.

His personal life is nobody's business. Nobody needs to know what his ex-wife thinks about him. Divorces are miserable for everybody involved. My parents still hate each other 36 years later and haven't talked in over 25 years. Live as a child through that B.S. and you're not going to put any stock in anything that any divorced person has to say about their ex.

Maybe it's all true. Don't give a shit.

And as for these actresses... I'm done hearing about any of that either.

I don't think any of the claims have reached Harvey Weinstein levels with Joss, but at this point I'll even defend HW.

So you sold your body on a couch to get a job. You weren't held at gunpoint. You weren't drugged. You weren't raped. You made a business transaction to secure a job.

Is that a SUPER douchey thing to do to somebody as a person in a position of power. You're goddamned right it is. But it's not rape. You could have just said no and gone back to waitressing. You made the choice.

Fucking deal with it.

Best I can tell, this all is centered on Charisma and her getting pregnant during the show. There's a lot of he-said, she-said, and I frankly don't believe anyone entirely. Joss had a show to produce, and a schedule to keep. Charisma, who apparently Joss was no fan of her acting in the 1st place, yet was TOLD he had to use her, now double resented her screwing up his production.

I get that. He can still be a colossal a-hole and not wrong because now one of his main stars is going to go through undeniable physical changes. And with him basically working 3 shows, ( Angel, Buffy, Firefly ) at once, I can see how weeks could go by where things went unsaid, unreported, wires get crossed, etc... there's a good chance he's not the only bad guy here. And when you add in the liability matters, her needing more rest, and then maternity leave... I can see how Joss's resentment towards the entire situation can amplify.

As for the other stuff, about Michelle T... I've no idea. He either did something, or he didn't. Said something, or not. It's been 20 years, and unless Joss is gonna be nominated for the USSC, we're apparently never gonna find out.

So...what's new? These sound like the same stories rehashed from before. Joss was mean. Made some girls cry.

Didn't think Charisma was a good actress. Maybe he's right. Maybe he resented having to work with her, despite the fantastic eye candy quality she brought to the show. ( Personally, I think her 'acting' was spot on for Cordellia, but what ever. )

Joss had the ability to get mad talent and great chemistry for his shows. I don't know why he'd continue to be an ass when they started filming , and after they were getting considerable success, but he's a dick. Lacking in any self awareness or tact, it seems.

Sounds like someone we all know, huh?

It's just a bunch of 40 year old has-beens and never-weres that are mad that nobody wants to hire them anymore, grasping for that last 15 minutes of fame.

They're gross.

Sorry ladies. You can't all be Meryl Streep.

Hope you married rich and/or saved some of that cash for a rainy day.

Otherwise... I guess we'll be competing for the same minimum wage jobs in the future.

But fret not... I hear that they may raise the minimum wage to $15 by the time you start looking for a job.

Sorry babe, but that’s bullshit. You don’t get to call someone a witch , a rapist, an abuser etc... & automatically get onboard the sympathy train. That’s not how this works.

Jesus, she’s trying to make me feel sorry for Joss now!!

Stop it.

I already DO feel sorry for Joss now.

And I'm not even a Joss fan in the first place.

She had me! I was on board, and it didn't take much for me to turn on Joss, trust me.

But hell, the more she DEMANDS to be taken seriously and act all offended that anyone would dare to ask for specifics and details, the more suspect her claims.

I hope Joss comes out and tells us how he fricked all those actresses. I want details.

Honestly, I hope he banged all of them.

It would have been their choice to indulge him, and his bitch ex-wife is a money grubbing bitch.

I couldn't care less about any of them. Including Joss.

I'm only defending him right now because this entitlement bullshit and "believe all women" needs to end. Women lie just like men do.

Obviously, there's been a lot of talk about working with Joss Whedon recently. What was your personal experience of working with Joss?

SKELLY: I loved working with Joss. I found him to be a lovely boss and director, he was very open. I felt he cared a lot for the actors and the crew. It was definitely one of my favorite on-set experiences for sure.

DONNELLY: From my personal experience, it was the best screen, film or TV, experience that I've had on any set. From my point of view, he always felt very supportive and protective of the artistic integrity and what we as actors needed in order to be able to do our job. One of the great things was the way that trickled down. I've never worked on a show that has a cast and a crew that all seem to be so at the top of their game and who are all so lovely and I say that without a single exception. They have just been such a joy to work with and I'm so thrilled that the vast majority we'll be back with later this year doing the rest of the series because it's been one of the best experiences of my career.

SKELLY: Everyone would show up to work happy to be there, ready to go. That is a very contagious feeling. It was a very positive energy.

DONNELLY: One of the first talks that we got from HBO, and I think this speaks to the culture as it has been learned about over the years and the progress that we've managed to make within the industry, was an HR talk about what you can do if you do ever feel uncomfortable on a set in any capacity at all. So we all knew that there were very clear lines of communication there if we ever felt that we were in any way uncomfortable. Certainly, from my point of view, I always felt like I was being very looked after in that capacity. I'd like to think that everybody else on set did too. I think that's brilliant of HBO. I'll always be grateful to them for providing that for us.

I'm sure people will ignore this and call them liars who just want to remain employed.

Not sure anyone here knows for certain, but I see a general consensus that Joss wasn't 100% a-hole, all the time. Few are, it would seem. But he likely has his favorites, his 'in crowd' of folks he thinks are talented, worthy enough, cool enough... what ever criteria he's using, and gets along just fine with them.

Then there's the others... the 'lessers' , those actors lacking in talent or intellect, as he views them, who are fair game for mock, ridicule and bullying.

Does this sound too far fetched ?

It sounds exactly like any work place environment that us proles have to deal with every day we go to work.

Sorry. Not going to cry for people making that kind of money. If they don't like their job, they can quit. WalMart is always hiring.

And my guess is that somebody who is that dissatisfied with their semi-rich, semi-famous status isn't going to find any more happiness at a regular job. Especially when they see how little they made after two weeks of busting their hump.

The man finally speaks and it's even more pathetic than I ever expected. He was upset that Joss cut the movie down from the 4 hour epic that Snyder filmed into a feature length movie. Yeah of course Joss had to cut the slow backstory for the new characters. That's the studio's fault for trying to do a team up without ever giving the characters stand alone films to introduce them.

He plays the race card at every turn. Just because you're black and playing a black character doesn't mean you get to dictate to the studio and the director. That's not how it works. And he really did get upset about the booyah line. And yes Joss poked fun at him over it. I'm not at all surprised. He was throwing a temper tantrum over nothing. Of course Joss is going to treat him like a baby if he's acting like one.

This is why all the vague reports about abuse on set are difficult to interpret. If people gave these kinds of details I don't think there'd be much backlash at all.

Joss Whedon threatened to harm Gal Gadot's career if she didn't say the lines he wrote for 'Justice League,' report says

Whedon said he would harm Gadot's career, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Gadot and the "Wonder Woman" director Patty Jenkins then reportedly "went to battle" with Whedon.

Gadot told THR: "I had my issues with [Whedon] and Warner Bros. handled it in a timely manner."

More details are surfacing about what actors went through on the set of "Justice League" after controversial director Joss Whedon took over.

The Hollywood Reporter detailed a clash between Whedon and Gal Gadot, who plays Wonder Woman, in a feature story published Tuesday. Sources said Gadot pushed back on lines Whedon wanted her to say, which they said led to him threatening to harm Gadot's career.

"Joss was bragging that he's had it out with Gal," a witness on the set told the publication. "He told her he's the writer and she's going to shut up and say the lines and he can make her look incredibly stupid in this movie."

Representatives for Whedon and WarnerMedia did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment.

It goes on and on and it appears Joss has no friends supporting him. Where are the cast of FireFly and why aren't they speaking out? Or are they and I just haven't seen it. If you have links to them doing so please post them.

Sounds like some are white knighting for Gal, while she's not saying anything specific herself.

I wonder why.

I mean is that really scandalous? If an actor won't do their job then directors will surely tell each other that the actor is a pain to work with which will in turn hurt their careers. That's just how jobs work. If I'm a pain to work with then I expect my manager to tell that to peer managers or any hiring manager who asks about me. This is completely standard. Yet they're acting like this threat was monstrous. I don't understand.
