From Squee in OOC 12
CAPN - I think that both your direction post and time marker work well. It's nice to know how much time has past.

EVERYONE/ANYONE - Did we ever decide what was going to go down on NH? If I remember correctly, there were a lot of people voting for the transfer taking place in the wild. I also remember talk about a markets or ghost towns, and a fight... something about Badger or Reavers or Niska?

Am I ringing any bells? Just thought it would be good for everyone to be on the same page and I for one have no clue what's supposed to happen.

Thanks for your input! I had hoped it would work OK - anybody else?

Yep, the wave that Thorne is getting has the 'details' of the drop on New Hokkido's moon from the folks who are getting the guns.

For reference - It was set up in Interlude 2 Part III near the end of Act 14.

Speaking of Act 14
Astri, I am playing with a streamlined Alpha Post for Act 15. It just requires me to post some stuff in Channain's GunRunner Archive and Mechanics of RPing.

If I get it done tonight, and if it is fine with you, I'll go ahead and have smeagol make the new ACT.

I know you'll be bizzy tonight and, most likely, verrrry tired after your practice.

Whoops! I forgot to make th eannouncement hat Deb is gonna help me with story stuff and continunity.

With RL problems acting up and the like, I figgered that Deb would be a good one to have as an Asst. Dir.

We talk a coupla time a week on the phone, so if one of our comps coughs up a hairball, the other can pass messages.

I hope Astriana, Channain and Geezer will still be on the 'Production/Directing team - whenever they can. I know this spring is LOADED for everyone.

So hopefully I can say this:

I can't remember exactly what I said, but I do recall having a desire to have Book talk more to both of them... I must have mixed the characters up in my post. Good catch Channain. ???????????????????????????

Help! When we left Hera this was to be a two day trip...and Thorne and Inara planned accordingly. Where'd we lose a day and, more important, a night? We need a night and morning after to explain the rationale for their departure from Serenity after the delivery.

Any way we can tale a mulligan on this and rapidly move to evening, with the delivery tomorrow?

It's okay, dearie, no one was yelling - just questioning is all. It's not the first time the timing has gotten geeked up, and it probably won't be the last. Check the rest of the posts in the RP before you edit though - I think Geezer may have worked something out... It may just require a response post to fix.

Sorry, Raven. I just saw a couple of weeks worth of emails and planning by Ciara and myself going down the drain and kinda freaked myself out. I seem to remember that a two day trip was mentioned a few hundred posts back, and we fixated on that as our timeframe. And of course, if I remember it that way, everyone else must also. I should have been more communicative.

So maybe WASH was just kidding, and had a bet with himself about how many folks will call him out on the time issue? Huh? Please?

Pay no attention to that dumbass behind the curtain.

So I have a question - not yelling, just curious.

Did you e-mail or post to the Geezer directly, to re-verify when we were landing? Posting in the OOC is one thing, but as we all know (myself included) it's easy to just GO to the RP and post before reading updates, despite what the RP says.

No worries man - that's the beauty of the edit feature. All RP situations are... fluid.

It is, but there are always ways and opportunities to get around the twist. Never hurts to have extra eyes peeled for stuff, does it? I'll hang in there for the duration, or until Xiang and Rowan's fates are determined.

I'll be attempting to post at least once a day or every other day (as is the case today). Should something happen during my quiet time that y'all think I ought to know for current or future Rowan posts, feel free to e-mail me at any time.

Sorry I dinna say about the time thing ... I had no idea it was so critical to the Thorne/Inara relationship arc.

We have hopped around time so often - I had missed the signifcance of needing to fill the 2 days.

OK - timeline repair PT 2: The message from Jax is also a day early then. Meebe Geezer can do an edit of the wave msg and say that the pickup is delayed 24 hours.

How does this sound: Finish off ACT with Thorne going to Inara's shuttle for their date. She lets him in the door closes annnnnd CUT ... wrap ACT 14!

But we need to finish 2 things before Geezer or Ciara posts the last post for ACT 14

1) Finish the bridge scene 'tween Wash, Damon and Merz - could be 'tied up' pretty quickly, considering all of the straps laying about ...

2) The conversation between Mal nad Book. In that respect, I suppose I am up to bat on this one. Got some running to do today, but will make the attempt to post Mal's move before evening tonight.

On that note - I know I have only made 2 posts for Mal at the moment - how is it 'reading' to you folks?

Actually, there's a third thing (which hasn't been truly pursued, since Zoe's been hanging in the galley) - Merz needs to show Zoe how to use the laser cannon. I'll head Zoe up to the bridge (with Wash's fresh coffee) - she can enter just as the ties are being finished up.

About the Mal posts - they look good to me so far...

I think it's pretty darn shiny - you've pegged his voice pretty well, although the syntax is just a tad more "common" than I think Mal would use. He's usually somewhere between Inara and Jayne and you've got him more in the Jayne arena. That's actually a common boo boo, and I'm not the first one who's ever made mention of it in general when it comes to Mal. I just figure he has this voice inside his head that sounds just like his Momma;

"Did I or did I not teach you to speak better than a low-bottom farmer?"

Just about everybody's written him the same way so far (although Geezer toned it down some) so this would be just me speaking up on a pet peeve

Capn.

Unless you have some specific baddies lined up to add interest to the delivery, I'd would like Badger to be there in a turncoat role, harking back to the original "Badger's Betrayal" concept. Thorne has issues with his brother-in-law, and believes that making contact with him again could smooth things out for everyone involved.

Great idea! Bit I have to say - DOH! OK, I did forget that ... proves I should skim the prior acts to see what has been left hanging!

Channain
LOL, I sat down and watched a few episodes and tried to get his lingo and Mandrin usage down.

OK, I'll shoot a question back to you to help in my writing - which colloquialisms went too far?

I toned down the Mandrin because in the 4 episodes I watched, Mal did not use it very much. {Serenity, Out of Gas, The Message, Shindig.}

One reason I really like the character of Mal is he mixes slang, polite speak and Mandrin into a fairly good blend.

Geezer
Heh, we're doing it again!

I thought we always had planned to have Badger try to pull a 'fast one'. So, yes, they will be there - plus a chewy surprise center!

Raven
Everything is cool ... clear your mind and let the usless go-se fall to the wayside.

We'll fix it in post-production when we do ADR {Additional Dialog Recording} anyhoo

On another note and just to make sure - you want to pass Wash on to someone else - correct?

Capn, you're so silly.

It's not so much that it went too far, but maybe not quite far enough. Ever notice how Southern folk sometimes are like the English - using fifty words to say something when 10 would have sufficed?

"Less'n you got other info that you ain't spilled yet."

could have been

"Lessn' you happened across other intel that you ain't seen fit to spill just yet."

Geezer, Capn, you guys know how long the trip was supposed to be, so maybe one of you can tell us how many hours (roughly) they have before they land?

Yes, I AM silly. That was established a looong time ago {we been doing this since ... November?}. I am compelled to point this out: you being a gemini too, you iz just az zilly!

OK, I mis-read your first observation. I thought you meant syntax, as you stated. I suppose it was Mal's mother's voice in yer head comment - "Did I or did I not teach you to speak better than a low-bottom farmer", that made me think that.

About the south - All of my family is from either Newburn or Sharon Tennesse. I am one of the 1st generation of Hoosier Freeze/Johnson's. My experance is that most southern men use as few words as possible and the southern wimmen are chatterboxes!

Squee, Raven
LOL, that is why I said "we'll fix it in post-pro.

In other words - It is no biggie once we get everyone back on track or on the same page.

So to fix I suggest this:
Raven
Just change the "add an 8 to the end" to something in this vein - "Ah shucks ya caught me. I just wanted to see if anybody was paying attention - it is actually 24 hours till we make New Hokkaido orbit."

Or somesuch joking Wash'ism.

Kalenvor -

I have a question.

Do I understand that Bolo will not be staying and that Bolo will be attacking/fighting Slight?

If that is the case, does anyone have any objectons to MERZ getting the kill?

There are reasons of course . . . .

That was a great response, Capnrahn.
I will wait till tomorrow, saturday night or sunday prolly, since I'm gonna do a day of tax work overtime saturday, then a little partying before posting for Book again.
I swear this isn't what I thought I was getting in for when I graduated with an English degree. I wanted to write all the time. The tax dog drags the muse out of me. I am so extremely glad I have this forum to emote upon. Thanks again to all of you... you guys kick ass... and a big thanks to Joss and to Haken and to whoever is enjoying reading what we are doing.

Since SerenitysSon is MIRL, I looked back through the posts to his previous words of wisdom and found this. It seems certain that he would not mind a stand-in for Jayne while he is otherwise occupied doing his fiecely good works. So it may be for weeks or only days, but I'll give Jayne a shot while SerenitysSon is away.

It's funny. I was seriously considering playing Jayne when this first started up! Isn't that just the ultimate in fortuitous karmic happenstance?

I'll have to go back and review Jayne's moves very carefully from the beginning. I plan to post for Jayne on Monday.

SaintJayne
I have NO compassion - I am a director, after all!

Movie Trivia Tidbit
Yes, that IS Johnny Depp in the above pic - from a film called "Before Night Falls". Depp is featured in the dual supporting roles of the cross-dressing prison inmate, Bon Bon, and the brutal officer, Lieutenant Victor in the film about a Cuban writer who is also a homosexual.

About Jayne
Concerning the part of Jayne Cobb in the GunRunners RP - irony strikes with a firey hot poker to the eye ... witness this:

Quote:

Excerpt from SSon's email to CapnRahn
...I will eventually return but probably only as a guest shot. I am fine with SaintJayne taking the role, as i can not contribute the way I should. Hope things are going well for you and please give my love to the other Gun runners. Hope to talk again soon.

Serenity's Son
Killian

RL has not only hit Killian - it has smashed him full in the nose. So please send any kind thoughts, emails and prayers his and his families direction.

On the RP side as you can see, he has given his blessing for SaintJayne to fill Jayne's shoes.

the courage to charge the thugs I can;

The target is still Monday for Jayne to move, but I'll try to contact players on the weekend with ideas.

I have no probs whatsoever with you gettin the kill, actually Raven and i had figured since Troy is another fighter type thing we were thinking perhaps ANOTHER troy was who killed off Bolo's companions in an attempt to keep Frost's coffin/freezing unit, from them, Bolo made it out alone, so the irony would fall in ANOTHER Troy offing Bolo.

So yeah sounds great, but please when and if ya do it be dramatic

I do custom Avatars ... lets us see ... I made Channain, Merz, Geezer, Mine {CapnRahn}, altered one StJ gave me for DragonFlyDirector and a few more but I forget ...

Anyhoo, ask Ciara - still hjaven't found my Micrografx discs...

Then you send in the jpg or gif to haken with the request to attach it to your KalenVor FFFn ID.

What 'actor' pic{s} do you have in mind for Bolo and Frost?

OK, I broke my "Mal Mandrin cursing observation"
... But, in my defense and in watching the epis again, Mal does use a lot of Mandrin when he is really pissed.

And since Geezer has played Mal as wound up and getting wound up tighter as he goes along, I thought I better bring that to a climatic point and see where it goes.

Please forgive me

I think adding 1 temp and new characters should wait till after this episode wraps up -- many arcs to tie up before we goto the 'Gunrunner's Spring-Break' or two ACT thread(s) ... AKA the Vacation or Pool Party!

So here are the arcs to get finished for the current episode of "Adventures in GunRunning". In the vague order I have in mind. And have no worries - the order is fluid!

1)Mal & Jayne and their 'wall to wall counseling session'.

2)Merz's revelation of 'fortuitous karmic happenstance' and working with Zoe and the cannon.

3)Damon, Wash and Kaylee on the port burner or what ever business they want to play.

4)Thorne and Inara's setup for their departure. Are they going to actually announce it in this epi or in the Vacation mini-episode?

5)River's current state of mind.

6)The actual drop and collection of $$$ from Jax and CO. With a big surprise!

7)Coda - Rowan getting her Tourny packet/info hotel reservation or what ever Channain has in mind. Tying up where all the off-ship members/players are at and or doing.

OK, what did I forget?

OH, Kalen - feel free to do a few set up post of Bolo tracking down the coffin or even the coffin getting to the point 'just before' Bolo's entrance. We'll do the introduction of Bolo and Frost in the 'Vacation', if that is OK with you and the others.

That's a good question, Decoy. Capn's last noted time was 1226AMT, and Merz's post says Merz (the character) is in the cargo bay working out for 3 hours. What time did she start, so we know when someone passing through the bay would see or not see her?

Anyway, for the record, I'm just leaving work (at 10:38pm EDT!!!), so I won't be posting for Zoe until the AM.

'Night all, sleep well!

I like your timeticks. I should start adding the time to my posts.
I have a weird question for anyone more tech-minded than me. I got an email that had the following words attached to it at the bottom, very tiny and invisible. Does anybody know why I would get something like this?

I do not know Maniac, that is very weird. I have never seen anything like it, nor been warned about it at work. (We get regular virus alerts and stuff).

Thanks Maniac!

Dunno about the email - sorta looks like a list of 'keywords' for searches, the list is so wide and varied.

To all
OK, a few things wrapped up, what is next?

Inara and Thorne's liason.
Kaylee, Damon, Wash working on port burner.
Jayne and Merz interfighting ... er ... interacting.
Zoe reacting to Wash ...

Anything else before we let the curtain close and allow time to pass fer a bit - till ... like round-abouts an hour or so before (next day around 11 AM AMT} landing NHs moon sound good?

I figure that Rowan's packet may be delayed till then and that could start to spawn butterflies in Rowan's tummy at our current timetick of noon-thirty.

CapnRahn,

Merz still needs to give Zoe a lesson on the cannon. That can come between aroung 4:00 and 6:00 AMT before supper and a little drink break. No one objecting we can probably rap up around 8:00 AMT and compress any time between Noon and 8:00 where nothing is actually happening.

Startup time next day sounds good.

Just a thought
