*BIIIIG Breath of new OOC Air*

AH!

Thought this would bear repeating over here:

As it's the weekend and Easter, I'll be offline all day Saturday and Sunday. Might get to post something Monday, but that would be before classes that night. I'll be on tonight, but not late. Simon decided 3:00 in the blessed a.m. would be a good time to play today, and I never got back to sleep after I convinced him otherwise. On the upside, I got a lot of Spring Moon read and quite a bit applies to Rowan and Xiang. However, I will be going to bed at a decent time.

See? I'm rambling - that means I'm tired.

Maniac, you wonderful, wonderful man you! Got your magnet today...LOOOOVE IT! We'd travelled through your neck of the woods on a family vacation a couple of years ago (did 5000+ miles in two weeks), but for one reason or another I didn't pick up a magnet from there. Huzzah! Just one more for my collection.

I'll take a picture of my fridge, then have CapnRahn post it here for everyone to see. Heh.

Thanks again! (Oh, and say hey to 'Tash for me!)

"These are my magnets from around the country, and a couple from other countries.

The 3 in the upper left corner are just mags that I like--the red & green one hubby made for me out of modeling clay; the one next to it on top says "Living with an Irish woman builds tolerance"; the lower one says "Never trust a skinny cook".

Good Evening Kiddies -

I am glad no one has answered my last post. I forgot an important detail, but it can only be said here. MERZ has never drunk coffee as a treat, only as a stimulant.

If any of you have ever seen a movie called Bagdad Cafe you will know what I mean. Please be advised that her coffee can be safely drunk by anyone else - if you cut it one to one with hot water. Otherwise for most taste it is going to be undrinkable.

I can't help it, that is just the way it is.

LOVE Pinky & the Brain!! Yes, that is a P&tB magnet hiding in the corner behind the ice bucket (from one of the many Six Flags amusement parks I've been to).

Merz--got your magnet yesterday, thank you!! It's a rather interesting one with the sand in the bottom. I have quite a few from several different places in Florida, but none from your favorite fishin' spot. Thanks again! Your's is now under the purple monstrosity at the bottom of the picture.

OK darlings--I've been dreading having to say this--

I'm not sure how much more I can do with Inara--it's not the story, it's quite engaging--it's a RL problem--some issues have cropped up with my very best friend that I just can't stay out of--and I'm not sure my head will be in the story for a while to come *sigh* though, we did have a long run, and I'll try to do as much as possible to move Inara along--Channain and my dear Geezer know which way she'll be going soon--and I have confidence that they can do her complete justice, you guys can even keep her silent, or give her laryngitis if you want to *laughs* If any of you need my input on how she may act--what she might say--feel free to email me....I'll be right here.

If this situation resolves itself soon, I'll be more than happy to hop my little rear right back into the story. Otherwise, I"ll be around only periodically

here's hoping for a quick resolution to my RL issues :)

My sincere apologizes Geezer. Was early in the morning and what I have that passes as a sense of humor got away from me. Apparently I am no gentlemen. Will be more careful making jokes in future.

And, for the record - MERZ would more easily understand food that has to be unwrapped than not. She has seen far less real food over the years. She would understand a banana to a degree, but would be puzzled by an apple. That she would try to unwrap. Paper on a muffin she could tell by texture and would remove without thinking about it.

Okay, folks, here's the deal.
I'm not sure that I can do much with Wash. So, after the vacation Mini, I think I will ask for a recast. Unlike Ciara, I have no real reason, I'm just. . .not the part. So if possible, I would like to say I gave it my best, and let it rest. Unless anyone thinks I'm doing good here (which I doubt, as no one has exactly complimented my posting for Wash).

Actually, I thought you were doing quite well with Wash, Raven. However, I do understand the strife of writing a character that doesn't quite fit. I've contemplated writing Jayne in SSon's absence, but I don't quite understand the character. I might, still, but not for a bit yet.

One thing I know for certain - writing for one character is more than enough for anyone. Writing for two can tax a person a bit. Just something to keep in mind.

Oh yeah, and I'm back from the wilds of Starbuck. Did I mention that? Spent a somewhat relaxing weekend with the fam - lost a lot of sleep with the Sunrise Easter service, but what do you do? I'll catch up... eventually.

Ciara: You're loved and will be missed, ducks... Keep us updated - we'll be sending lots of good energy your way.

Raven: You're doing a fine job with Wash; don't worry about not having a lot to say right now - Wash generally doesn't, unless everyone's on the bridge. If you really want, we can recast - just don't let it be because you're laboring under the impression that we don't think you're doing well with it.

Merz: Sorry about that. I just figured that since we began this adventure with Wash in a sleep-deprived hallucination that nearly got us killed, it might be a good idea to keep him away from the stims. Perhaps Merz can catch Zoe in the hallway and divert her attention from the coffee, until someone else has... experienced... it?

*snicker* yeah. The only disguise Rowan has ever implemented are the brown contacts. An Asian woman this day and age is pretty common. An Asian woman with green eyes? Not so much.

I can still see Inara doing some froo-froo make up thing - Rowan would be a blank canvas, after all - although not as extensive as to change her appearance entirely.

Suggestion for future RP

Ello folks
I got a proposal, I wanted to join RP and I got a hella cool way to do it.

We open our scene with a nemisis class Blue Sun soldier, name is Bolo. Our dear friend Slight *snicker* wouldst be hunted by this soldier because the ship he is on is carrying within its cargo an item required by the Blue Sun.
When confronted Slight battles it out with Bolo and in the end breaks his firewalls down to nothing, and comes home with little present for everyone, a coffin, a highly decorated solid steel coffin, that is 276 cm long by 106 cm wide.
the item Bolo was after was the access stick to open said coffin, in which will be the character I truly wish to use,(Bolo is a temp job).
(lemme know what you thnk, this is proposal not entirely what is demanded to do this obviously)
(scene, setting, Serenity, cargo bay
in attendance Slight, Mal, Jane, Zoey, possibly Mercedes, standing to stern of the coffin)

Mal: Slight? whys there a coffin on my ship... again.

Slight: Hey I didn't expect to take it.

Mal: Well ain't ya gonna open it?

Slight reaches for the coffin with key in hand, Jane grabs his wrist

Jane: You aint openin that, last time we opened a coffin the feller inside what'nt dead.

slight: Well then you open it (setting the key ontop of the coffin as he speaks)

Jane: hell no (looks to Zoey) you open it

Zoey looks to Mal: Should I open it sir?

Mal turns away, his back to the coffin everyone looking at his back as he thinks a moment
Mal: Its a Blue Sun problem, let Blue Sun deal with it

as soon as he finishes a hiss is heard and simultaneously everyone look to the coffin to see River looking at it with curiousity her hand retreating from the key as the lid begins to open, the innards being revealed as a two section compartment, one is a very slender
lock box, the other, a freezing chamber, the glass sheeted over with ice, only two parts visible, a hand pressed against the glass, and half of a face, eye shut and mouth open, a look of secrets a regrets being shouted into the icy nothingness.

everyone blinks as River's hand reaches in running over the only label inside, the indentions running under her fingers telling her a tale

Blue Sun A72-387-BO
Code Name: Frost

She looks into the face, frozen in this horrible state, she sees what none other does, a damaged mind, secrets that may never be known, everyones gaze turning from her to the coffin and back, she gets a sad look on her face and whispers

River: He's cold (she turns to them and screams at the her voice carrying throughout the ship) HE'S COLD, WARM HIM, HE'S COLD (her voice panicked as she turns back clawing at the glass.

We let it all slip away.

Sorry folks!

I had written the Simon section to where it needed to be for the Mini and didn't want to spoil any secrets.

Geezer, Astriana, Channain
You want me to move the story along with 'direction' post(s) from DragonflyDirector?

I was thinking of having Jax wave Thorne about the nasty inspectors and tight security at New Hokkaido Orbital Inspection platforms or somesuch.

Sound OK?

I thought that post was rather brilliant and inventive, Capn. I was hoping you were thinking those types of thoughts. If you didn't make that post, I was contemplating it. I usually get more time to post on weekends, as opposed to the rest of the group.

I WISH!

Geezer has been hit by two new projects at work, each requiring full-time participation, and a racecar suspension in need of a full rebuild before my next race in mid-May. Projects look to run about 6 months and racing season, with related tavel and car care, lasts until early November.

Faced with this additional workload, looks like I have to re-prioritize. Hence:

- If CapnRahn would like to take over Mal, and the loosely held reins of directorship, that's fine with me. I've pretty much been King Log as director anyway.

- I would like to continue with Thorne for the remainder of "Adventures in Gunrunning". Thorne has other things he must do after, so he may not be able to fulfil a major role in "Gunrunners II - The Search for Simon". I believe his plan is that he and Inara will run off to the Core together, sending occasional postcards to Serenity.

- Looks like CapnRahn may be recasting the part of Jax in the Dragonfly story line. Sorry, Capn.

I hate to cut down on the RP, but work does pay the bills, and the capital investment in racecar and related equipment makes it difficult to not put my best efforts in to it. Didn't expect everything to happen at once.

Ok, folks....sorry I've been MIA since last week. Had a major screw-up (although I'd prefer to use the "F" word. ) with the computer, which led us to saving everything of value and reformatting the damn drive from scratch. On top of that, my weeked has been sooo busy. Seeing Riverdance, then hanging out with my brother until 4:30am on Friday...working on an antifreeze leak in the van all day Saturday, going to the boy's play that night, the listening to our cousins play at a bar til after midnight...helping same cousins clean up the construction debris at the house they're building all day Sunday.

Whew! I have been wiped out, I tell you what. I'll get caught up on the RP sometime today (since our comp is working again, yea!), then post an appropriate move for Kaylee.

Oh, Astriana...got the magnets you sent me! Sweet! So nice of you to send me two. That Skybridge looks like an exhilirating/terrifying drive. I'll have to add it to the travel list. Heh.

I'm sorry to see our RPer's go. Real life needs to get it's butt kicked so we can all stay here. Well, I'm still here and will be patiently waiting for the return of our missing comrades.

Oh, and sorry for the long-windedness of this post. I've been off-line for 4 freakin' days.

You're welcome, Boomer! The Sunshine Skyway is definitely exactly that - exhilirating/terrifying to drive, especially at night. Talk about bein' in the Black - the water and the sky are equally dark at night, so it looks like you're going to fall into the intercoastal any second - and it's only 2 lanes in each direction; quite narrow!

I've been one of those experiencing RL to the nth degree lately, so I must apologize to the group for my sporadic presence. With everything else that I had going, and then to start practicing (playing out!!) with the band, it's been a bit hectic lately. (Although I wouldn't trade the music for anything - I'm beginning to live a bit of a dream... *sniffs - then composes self* )

I shall make a more concerted effort to be more active from here in...

Oh, and for those who were curious about how my first gig with WarBand went this past Saturday, how's this?

CapnRahn has graciously offered (been cajoled? ) to host the pics and audio for me, once I get them to him. (Hopefully, this will occur in the next day or two.)

CapnRahn--I believe that the THX-1138(?) is in reference to Speilberg's movie that he made in film school, yes? At any rate, I know his school movie project title started with THX, although I'm not quite sure of the number that followed.

I think part of the lag is simply that we're in a bit of character development mode right now. (Granted that takes longer when RL issues come up.) Since we're traveling through the black on our way to the drop, there's not much for folks to do but talk to each other and learn.

Wrapping Adventures in GunRunning up
It seems everybody is OK with me picking up the direKtor reigns, so I'll just jump right in...

RL has got a bunch of folks by the neck right now - including myself.

However, I really love the interplay that is being seen right now. It is the interaction that is sometimes lost in a 32 to 43 minute TV series.

Keep an eye on the interludes as posted by Dragonfly DireKtor{me } because they have some interestng tid-bits and foreshadowing in them. Not to mention key bits to move the story along.

Speaking of posting - as a character I'll use my ID of Capn Rahn. As the 'direKtor' I'll use the DragonflyDireKtor. That should make it eaiser to follow. DireKtorsSmeagol, as continunity and general pest, will only harrass acKtors in the OOC ... mostly!

Opinions needed
I wanted your opinion{s} on something.

Is the 100 {ave} post limit OK for the players and readers who are on dial-up? Or do we need to lower it to an average of 80 or so?

I notice that the closer we get to 100, the slower the posting seems.

SerenitysSon
Anybody 'seen' him? If not I'll shoot him an email or message of some sort to see how he is doing. I know his plate has been REALLY full since around Feb.

Heh, I wonder if SaintJayne would like to play Jayne until SerenitysSon can come back. Because the character of Hlastoni, that St.J is going to play in Dragonfly, is only doing a cameo here and won't even be in the Mini.

Ok, I have burned enough small letter sized holes in yer retinas with this loooooooooong-winded post.
