Hmmm, I can see I'll end up getting two. Because I just know I'll take the DVD to Serenity2 as my badger thingy, and OK, so Adam MIGHT be there too (we won't go down that road just yet!) but to be on the safe side...

Curses, need more money!

So it definitely is like approx £20 (give or take whatever) per eac autograph?

Anticipate £15-25.00. Depends on the star.

If you go over to the forum at http://showmastersonline.com/forums/index.php?s=bf3e1364402a3274323086
ed92c0b390&act=SF&f=46
and hunt around you should find some old posts about anticpated prices. If I remember rightly, someone had posted that Adam would only be £15.00 but I'm not convinced...

OK, just got this email from Showmasters. So for those you who haven't managed to venture over to their website, here's what they have to say:

Quote:

LONDON FILM AND COMIC CON UPDATE

The London Film and Comic Con is returning to the capital city, and this time it’s bigger and better than ever before!

This Summer movie stars from around the world will be descending on London for the movie and media event of the year, and you’re all invited!

On the 25th and 26th June 2005 Showmasters will be running their third LONDON FILM AND COMIC CON event at Earls Court in London, England, and have already signed up over 30 celebrities including top Hollywood producer Glen A. And as if that wasn’t enough there will be a range of free talks and displays running throughout the weekend as well as exclusive competitions and giveaways. It will take a whole two days just to take everything in!

The show has grown into an annual mega-event, with many of the major film distributors and merchandise companies giving sneak previews of their forthcoming attractions and promoting the latest releases. Though autograph prices are only usually known on the day, you can usually tell by looking at the MSPG Autograph website, which sponsors the event. They offer an autograph pre-oder service for fans who can't attend and add £10 to the price of the autograph that they obtain on the day.
e.g. If they are asking for £30 for an autograph the price at the event will be £20. Going by this someone like Charisma Carpenter will be £20.

Adam's pre-order autograph is £25, therefore he'll be £15 at the event, though of course I could be wrong.

It's probably just best to assume he'll be £20, therefore if he turns out to be £15, you're left with more money than you expected.

I've been to 3 events run by these organisers and the only guest I've ever seen at £25 was Carrie Fisher. Not even Elijah Wood or James Marsters charged over £20 per autograph, so I highly doubt Adam will charge £25.

Hope that helps.

Yeah, I read that on the forum too - thanks for explaining it as it's probably buried away now!

Certainly if Adam's £15.00 I guess I can stretch to two items!

Still not holding any hope for that I'm afraid - and if they do announce him I just KNOW it will be for Sunday when I can't go!

But never mind - still lots to look forward to anyway! Can't believe how much some of the forum members at Showmasters are still bitching & still waiting for the "big" guests to be announced. I was thrilled just to be going to see Charisma - now I have three or four autographs to queue for, a trailer to see and freebies to collect! No complaints from me, that's for sure.

Well, on the official movie board awhile bck when they 1st announced the LF&CC - they did say 2 Guests *TBA* - now reading into that, maybe they have got someone else lined up and if so, it `s going to be a real shame to miss Sundays talk - atough, trying to getmyelf to Earls court on Sunday in my car would be problomatic (and isn`t the congestion charge at that point too?)

Still, Can`t complain too much, I`ll see if the martian fighting machine will be friends

I’m a newbie/lurker around here so I thought why the hell don’t I just chuck myself in at the deep end and check out the con.

How early do you think I’d need to get there if I wanted to get autographs from Adam and Charisma at a reasonably civilised time?

Is it true you can put your name down for the UK premier screenings of Serenity?

Please forgive my complete ignorance about the entire event, it’s a first for me. It’s just as well that I’ve just been paid, I’m going to be cleaned out after being faced with the prospect of the stalls and the autographs… oooh, I’m all excited now (and slightly nervous, I won’t be crushed in the throngs will I???)

Hiya, I've been awol since last week (in case anyone noticed!!) but I'm definitely still coming to this and am still interested in meeting up, Darin I'll pm you my mobile # asap.

Unfortunately I can't get there early, in fact it's going to be late morning before I do, I'd be eternally grateful therefore if someone can pick me up a q ticket for Adam! Please? Pretty please with sugar on?!!!

Hopefully see you all Saturday.

Hey stranger, glad to hear you're still coming! But this "late morning" nonsense - jeez!

You're only allowed to collect one ticket per queue so could be a little tricky - depends whether the steward recognises you if you go up a second time I guess!

Apparently, according to the handy guide that you posted a link to, it said we could get as many VT tickets as we wanted to queue for. You can only get one at a time. So you have to queue for each ticket.

Exactly - you have to go to each Guest's queue to collect your ticket, and you can only get one for each queue at a time. But you can hold different tickets for different guests at the same time.

Here's a bit more info from Showmasters:

Quote:

The Virtual Queue

This is a simple way to eliminate the need for visitors to stand around for hours at end.

If you can imagine a Queue of 600 people, stretching away, waiting to get an autograph, well, that what we are dealing with if we don't have a system in place.

If there is a long Queue more than 30 people, everyone gets a ticket for that particular guest.
These numbered tickets are guest and day specific.

REMEMBER, if you want a friend or parent to join you in the Q later, THEY MUST be there to be issued with a Virtual Q ticket, it is stritly one ticket per person.

Everyone in the Queue, and that includes the first 30 waiting in the queuing area, are given a numbered ticket, which then represents their place in the Queue.

People are then free to wander off and enjoy the show, grab a coffee, go to a guest with a quick queue or even get a Virtual Queue ticket for another guest.

Then when your number or a higher number is displayed on a board next to the ‘REAL’ queue you may join this short queue.

We also announce the current number over the tannoy and we write it up on large White Boards placed around the hall.

So, lets say the first 30 people get autographs, the person Queue ticketing, writes on the board 60, and announces “UP TO 60” this now means that anyone with ticket 60 or less may join the queuing area.

This continues apace all day. We have found that increments of 30 works well.

You do not need to be ready to join the Q as soon as your number is called, once your number is surpassed, you can join the Q at any stage after this, you never lose your place, so there is no panic, if you are busy elsewhere.

There is a wait, but no where as long as it could be, you normally won't have more than 30 people ahead of you, and this clears through fairly fast, although we must admit, it may feel longer, as you approach your favourite guest!

It is expected that most guests can see 600 visitors, but there are no promises made, and there is little point in giving out Virtual Q tickets past 800 people, so we no don’t.

Some guests, do not need the system, they have a steady flow of fans and if they don’t have more than 20 or so people in the queuing area, we wont use the system.

Each ticket is only valid for one guest visit, on the day it is issued. No tickets are issued for the following day in advance.

Stef and James
Showmasters

Quote:

You do not pay for the Virtual Tickets they are free. You pay per autograph when you come back and get into the queue.

Virtual Tickets are given out ONE PER PERSON, you will only be given one ticket. If you want to get a ticket for a friend there is nothing stopping you from joining the queue again and getting another ticket Just remember it will only be one ticket for each time you queue up.

The Virtual Tickets start to be given out at when http://www.serverlogic3.com/lm/rtl3.asp?si=22&k=the%20doors" onmouseover="window.status='the doors'; return true;" onmouseout="window.status=''; return true;">the doors open.

Once you have your VTs you then wait for your numbers to come up. If you don't want to have to keep going back to the guests queue to see what number they are up to, you can check one of the white boards that will be positioned around the event.

The numbers shown are for any number UPTO that number. You can go up anytime after your number is called. So if you have ticket number 100 and the board is showing 200, this is fine, you haven't missed your turn.

Cally, what time do you think you'll get there? Guests aren't expected to start signing until around 10 - by the time I've got my VT, waited for my number to come up, queued to meet Adam chances are you'll be there anyway?

Be prepared for lengthy queues outside Earls Ct on Saturday morning.

Reading the LFACC forum, lots of people are aiming to get there for 7am (or earlier!) because Val Kilmer's only signing for a few hours. And of course those people may also be getting Adam's etc...

Just a word of warning!

IMPORTANT MESSAGE

I`ve lost my mobile phone!

I`ve put a bar on it so it can`t be used by just anybody, even so, I appologise if people try to contact me. I`m hoping to get soemthing organised in the way of a new phone soon, but maybe not soon enough - I will have other peoples numbers written down unless somebody else could volunteer as a central contact

You just don`t realise how useful a personal mobile phone is (even if you don`t use it regularly)

I will however have my works mobile on me and will PM others, but it will limited use (I`m monitored)

Of all the times for this to happen, it had to happen this week

Once again appologies everybody,

Just got back from Lfcc. Meeting Adam was great. I managed to get a nice photo of him, just a shame there's a madly grinning doofus (me!) in the picture .

On the downside, there were no Serenity freebies, no trailer and nowhere to sign up for the preview! They kept saying Universal would be arriving at any minute, but they never turned up. According to a fellow attendee a problem had arisen and they couldn't attend. I waited until 1 o'clock incase they arrived late, but had to leave at that point. I am very disappointed. At least I got to see Adam.

I was so disappointed that there was no Serenity booth! I think a couple of the staff there got a bit annoyed when I kept coming up and asking them where it all was. Anyway, I was told that the company bringing the freebies brought War of the Worlds stuff instead and claim they (or at least their department) have no more affiliation with Serenity. I that what you were all told?

Has anyone heard any rumours (or better, concrete facts) that the promised freebies, trailer etc. will turn up tomorrow?? I have to make the trip from Reading and I can’t afford to do it unless I know there’s something to go for, other than the talk of course!

Still, Adam was SO nice!!! And he put his arm around me for the picture, which led to me wandering around in a daze for half an hour.

That’s it. I’m officially hooked on Firefly. Bring on Serenity2!!

Hey everyone!! Wow, how fun was that? Me and Beth hung round Adams queue for a while, talking to the guy in charge of it - who it turns out posted that handy thread that Fray has so kindly linked to! And then there was nobody in the queue, so we got to go up and talk to him!! So we were talking to him for about five minutes, and Beth got to meet him, and then he posed for a photo with both of us!

Although, sadly, I'm a little disappointed with my photos, they havent turned out as nice as I'd have liked, cos my cameras poop!

All the photos I wasn't bothered about turned out fine, but all the ones I wanted were a disappointment. Ah well, it was a fantastic day!

But, grr! NO Serenity booth, no new UK trailer, and no freebies! *Bitch!*

But, there was a list with the war of the worlds stuff to sign up for the preview info.

Someone I was chatting to said the people on the War of the worlds desk had told him Universal had experienced a problem and had not been able to make the show.

No one knew whether they would be showing up Sunday.

I think, at very least, the organisers should have set up a preview registration list. Then they could have passed it onto Universal if they did show up on the Sunday.

I think it's pretty definite that there will be more previews - we'll just have to get our tickets another way now!

A couple of people have posted at LFACC about the stall - strangely nothing about Val's no show though!

Hey, just read the bit about the white balance - the guy I was talking too in the JB queue told to do that but needless to say I didn't bother too! So yes, a fair few of my photos are orange too although I've managed to edit most of them. Fortunately the Adam ones are fine (have one of you, well your back(!) about to meet him!)

Hi to everyone I met today!

I had a good day meeting Adam despite the lack of a Serenity booth.

I think I said that I had been told by one of the con organisers that Universal may have dropped serenity according to what he had heard.

But what he actually said was (possibly paraphrased):

'semi-officially UIP may have dropped Serenity'

UIP are not Universal but united international pictures the UK distributor of Serenity as far as I can tell. I've just reread the londonfilmandcomicon site and it seems Universal were never meant to be at the con, only UIP.

So I don't know if it's true but it's possible the UK distributor may have to be changed?

I don't know how accurate this info is but this is the impression I got off the convention organiser.

heb

edited to add: Serenity is still on the UIP page so this may well be wrong.

Good to meet Adam, friendly guy & more than willing to pose for photos.

NO UIP Serenity Screeening Info or Freebies relating to Firefly/Serenity.

As there wasn`t much in the way of Firefly related stuff, the group didn`t stick together - this isn`t a fault, but spent a bit of time looking for everyone.

Thanks to StevieB & PrettyinPink, after leaving the Con, we went and saw Batman Returns & had an excellent meal in Central London.

OK, my justification is that I did pay for Billy's autograph at LFACC1, it just took another year to get my posed photo! What a sweetie though! And hooray for us for not buying anything (autographs still don't count, right?).

Guess we were lucky in that we didn't go there purely for Adam/Serenity Booth so had plenty of other things to keep us occupied (hence the wandering off...)

No, he didn't. Apparently it's because a known stalker had been spotted at Earls Court.

The new controversy is that people who turned up on Sunday (assuming their ticket was below a certain number) are being offered a free autograph - provided they gave their details whilst at the event yesterday. This has upset the Saturday people who aren't being offered the same.

You may recall from myu earlier posts that I mentioned that Showmasters were not dealing with the people at UIP regarding the previews. The rep from UIP knew nothing about the sign up available at LFACC as it was nothing to do with her.

I sent an e-mail to UIP expressing my disappointment, about the missing Serenity stand, and enquiring as to what had occurred. I received this response today:

>>Please accept our sincere apologies for any disappointment caused because
of the lack of material or information available for SERENITY at the London
Film & Comic Con.

We actually did have the international trailer ready to premiere, but due
to lack of communication or information from the organisers we were unable
to deliver it.

The organisers had also offered us a booth - but only last week - and given
the short turnaround time to produce sufficient good materials for display,
we decided to decline. I'd rather do something properly, or not at all.

The information about registering on a data base for forthcoming screenings
has never come from this office. No such screenings are yet confirmed, but
please feel free to stay in touch and I will advise if/when there's any
news. If they do go ahead, then I can assure you that all fans will have
a fair chance to secure tickets.<<

I feel that this event, has almost dealt with people fraudulantly - If Adam had also not been there, I would have been extremly angry and demanded my money back for getting me to an event on false pretences

The european trailer will be available soon, which is good news for those who don`t mind seeing more bits from the finished product, maybe not for those who want to remain spoiler free (but you can`t win with some people)

August will be a great time to be a fan, with the Fantable at Memorabelia with a Fantastic Shindig in the evening (August 13th/14th - see www.browncoatevents.com for more details) and then of course there will be these screenings planned, what more could you ask for?

See everyone sooner rather than later, I`ll bring the rope so everybody has to stick together rather than beeing picked off one by one by Startrek fans

UIP are completely behind this movie and will be paying for the fan table at Memorabilia, supplying us with free merchandise, allowing us to screen trailers and supporting us every step of the way.

We have been in negotiations with UIP since November and have every faith in their commitement to and belief in this movie.

I have sent an email back to UIP to ask when they turned down the booth. If SM had advanced notice, and didn't bother to tell us, then I am not going to be a happy browncoat.

Zol - AtomicJumbo, ILoveSummer, Scud and I are attending Memorabilia on the Saturday. Unfortunatly it is highly unlikely that we will be able to attend the Shindig . We would be happy to help out on the stall or wander around handing out flyers. I will have a rummage around and see if I have any items to donate to the stall.

Sorry for those people who literally went to see Adam & the Booth and weren't interested in anything else. But for some of us there were plenty of other interesting guests to go meet - so that's what we did.

Just this once, the Star Trek fans are innocent!

but the thing is there are disclaimers saying that sometimes guests can't attend, and honestly you can't really hold organisers responsible. sure they should announce earlier if someone can't come etc etc, especially in the val kilmer case, but if it's just a random one off, something sudden, no i wouldn't blame anyone. besides only a tenner for entry.

There was loads of other things to do, and anyway if there wasn't there was a lovely air conditioned bar with over priced coke to drink ;) and then stare at the poor unfortunate stall holder who had one of the worst comb overs i've ever seen.

You'll have to let me know that 24 site you mentioned - maybe I'll go post them there.

I can't be doing with all this white balance stuff! Way too complicated....

Have posted a few shots of Adam in the Blue Sun Room (I promise it wasn't me who rated the shot of me & Adam a 10!).

My brother was suitably impressed with the photos of KITT - and you can just about see Glen A Larson sitting inside too!

I'd like to thank KITT for being so patient all day, not objecting to flash photography and allowing us to stroke his interior....!

Tell you what, it's lucky I went to the con on Sat and to Dorset yesterday and not the other way round as I got SOOO sun-burned! Would not have looked good in the photos at all!

Fray, I wasn`t getting at anyone inparticular, but it was just a case of everybody going their separate ways and not always mentioning to the others what was going on. These places are pretty busy at the best of times. After searching a while, I had to do my own thing for a while, and met Jeff Wayne (War of the Worlds) & bought the new re-mixed collectors album etc.

I thought that we were all going to have lunch together as was suggested by StevieB & then a meal later.

Still, I had a reasonable time, I won`t say great due to the problems of non-serenity turnout (& what appears to be false advertising by Showmasters)

Zol - you lie! You were quite definitely having a go at Star Trek fans...! Who, to be honest, seem to be in the minority these days.

Considering how busy it was, and with people arriving at different times, I was actually impressed how many of us managed to meet up all - Cally, glad to hear you bumped into Matt but am shocked you didn't recognise the Official Summer Glau Poster Boy.

BTW, whilst everyone's frustrated by the missing Serenity booth, we might all want to watch potentially libelous comments...

Well in response to that UIP statement I am going to be asking for my money back and/or reporting the convention organisers to trading standards.

If what UIP has said is true then they are guilty of false advertising with regard to the Serenity screenings and that is illegal.

Hi all,

Sorry it's taken me this long to post, real life has been hectic, LFCC was great even with a raging hangover, it was great to meet up with people (Hi PR) and even tho' we never managed to actually meet it was great talking to you on the phone Fray.

Adam was the sweetest guy I've ever met, I had 3 hours sleep the night before and by the time I got round to him I been on my feet for 5 hours! To say I was tired was an understatement, the stupid assed grin I had on my face in my photo was 1/2 because I was so tired. Adam looks at me and says you look like you need a week's sleep at which I said yeah I really do, at that point he leapfrogs across the table and pulls me into the biggest bear hug (this man has massive arms) and says 'sleep'!!! I could've, really I could!
Also I had a vest on that says 'Whedon's Bitch and proud of it' across it and he says to me, from one Whedon's Bitch to another..... thank you so much for coming!

I will confess however to having a new obsession, John Barrowman is the sweetest most down to earth guy I've ever met! And rather gorgeous to boot!

I don't know if this is going to work but i'm going to try and post a link to my photo's so here goes -

http://photobucket.com/albums/v104/Spikesbabe/LFCC/

We'll see if that works.

I'm new here but thought I should post that I was there and the event was fab. A tad dissapointing about the trailer not being present but as was mentioned at the talk nobody really knows why for sure.

I was crewing at the event on the Saturday working on the ticket booth on the front door. Was on my feet all day but all I could think about was meeting Adam and John Barrowman the next day.

When I met Adam I was blown away by his tallness to begin with....I'm a shorty. But he was real nice chatting with me and everything. Really made my day

I believe the statement from UIP makes it quite clear why there was no trailer. The organisational side was not wrapped up in time for the event to happen.

Hey Cally! First of all, can't agree enough with the John Barrowman thing - just so friendly! And the rest...Jeez, and I thought I'd taken a lot of photos of him! Sadly I was at the back for the talk.

Where the heck did you see Chitty? I was happy with KITT but now I'm a bit upset...

Ooh, you met Adrian Paul...I so fancied him in The Colbys! I only got some distant shots of him (the money had gone by then!)

Agreed that every argument has two sides. However, I do have an email from the person at UIP charged with promoting the BDM, dated just after Showmasters' announcement about signing up to preview screenings which states that she knew nothing about what they had announced back then so I am inclined to side with the people who's job it is to get the message out about the film not to attract attendees to a signing event. Anyhow, let's not share the bitterness, I agree with you entirely let's just move on nothing can be done eh? Let's promote the hell out of our movie instead!

BTW (for anyone not directed at Muffin)the event at Birmingham in August is likely to attract at least 10,000 attendees going on conservative estimates and I am guessing that the trailer may start to do the rounds with War of the Worlds.
