Country music singer Glen Campbell died today. He's most well known for the song "Rhinestone Cowboy".

IIRC, he was quite a stand-up guy.

Rhinestone Cowboy was a great melding of styles, I think it was a big crossover hit. Not only was it music that I knew, but it was also music that I liked, right away when it came out.

RIP.

"Rhinestone Cowboy" took a while to for me to like. But I did grow up with his music. Another song of his I like is "Wichita Lineman".

ETA: He also did "Galveston" which is about the Vietnam war and another favourite song of mine.

Great singer and entertainer. I remember his tv show was fun to watch when I was a kid. Glen also became a member of The Beach Boys, replacing Brian Wilson after he went psycho for a few years.

May the Good Lord take a liking to you... but not too soon!

He also spent some time addicted to coke. During this period he used to beat his wife; Tanya Tucker. That said, he was a great talent.

Hey, I just found out we lost Powers Boothe. Agents of shield actor.

America loves a winner!

Few know this about Glenn Campbell, but he was a world class guitar player, and his studio work alone reads like a HOF

Quote:

Campbell's musical career dated back to the early years of rock 'n roll. He toured with the Champs of "Tequila" fame. He was part of the house band for the ABC TV show "Shindig!" and a member of Phil Spector's "Wrecking Crew" studio band that played on hits by the Ronettes, the Righteous Brothers and the Crystals. Campbell also played guitar on Frank Sinatra's "Strangers In the Night," The Monkees' "I'm a Believer" and Elvis Presley's "Viva Las Vegas."

He was a major talent. He had to stop playing when Alzheimer's took its toll on him. The Tanya Tucker chapter of his life was tragic, but he got past it and was happy again. He left a big mark in music.

I remember his tv show, too. "Hi, I'm Gleeeeeen Campbell!"

Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

Wow. That's so sad.

I was a fan, as much of a fan as I ever am about anything or anyone.

RIP. You brought more to the world than you took, and your gifts were unique.

Trump is not the problem. He set himself against the Deep State's agenda. And the Deep State's been heading for WWIII for years.
As for you, you're just a Deep State useful idiot, furthering its agenda. So I hope you enjoy cesium in your coffee. You've earned it.
