Chuck vs. the Family Affair 1 & 2

Bartowski looked over at the pretty girl sitting in the passenger seat next to him.

“You know you really didn’t have to come with me.” He said.

“ I know it’s just that……well I’ve been looking out for you a long time. Besides I needed some time off myself.” She lied.

“ I know…..and I want to say that it means the world to me, I think you know that.”

“ Yes, I do.”

She gave him a quick squeeze to the arm.

Chuck was driving the family vehicle to a weekend getaway to meet up with some old friends from college. He hadn’t told his passenger who the folks were that he was going to meet. He didn’t think it mattered to her but he assumed that she knew.

Chuck had told Sarah he had needed some time off and, though she was reluctant at first to let him go alone he had told her it was only for a weekend and that he would be back and ready for “spy” duty the following Tuesday. Chuck needed to remember what his life was like before Bryce Larkin and the intersect.

“ I agree Chuck but it could be dangerous.” Sarah told him.

“ What….. some old friends wanting to get together to play video games and laser tag ?! Come on!!”

He was right and she knew it. She had to admit that she felt the same way sometimes, just getting away from it all.

“ Ok, you can go,” She paused , “ …….but I’ll go with you!”

“ Sarah that really isn’t necessary.”

“ I know but…..”

“ But nothing , I need to do this and I need to be alone.” He stood firm.

Now Chuck found himself on a trip. A getaway weekend with some old buds of his. He looked over at the pretty , sweet female sitting next to him. She didn’t notice that he was looking at her……she was so absorbed in the medical magazine that she was oblivious to the world.

“ Ellie you know you didn’t have to come with me.”

Ellie looked over at her little brother.

“ I know but like you said I’ve been looking out for you for a long time. Ever since I knew my little brother carried his heart on his sleeve.” She patted his face almost like she was his mom. Their parents hadn’t been there much when they were young and she’d made up her mind to be there for her little brother.

“ Chuck everyone at the Buy More knows that you have a girlfriend. Now you’re headed off to a place where you’re old friends probably know about Sarah and are interested in what’s happened to you since getting kicked out of Stanford. I know you told Sarah not to come, I only came to back up your story and let you’re buddies know the truth. I promise not to get in the way of all your games and stuff. I’ll just sit in my room and relax with a good book and these medical procedures that I need to catch up on, “ She held up the magazine, “….and I’ll enjoy the peace and quiet. After all it’s a little vacation for me too.” She added.

“Thanks sis, you’re the best.” He said to Ellie as she pinched her little brother’s cheek.

Chuck vs. the Family Affair part2

Chuck had been invited ( via e-mail) to an old fashion college buddy “bash”. Some old friends wanted him to come join them for a weekend game of “gottcha “ where teams of friends hunt each other down with rubber dart guns. He and Bryce had often played this game by themselves, honing their skills, with Chuck trying to get up to the level of Larkin (which he never had accomplished).Anyway Ellie was there for sibling support since she’d been told about Chuck’s trip by Morgan.

Grimes had also told Chuck’s sister that some of the e-mail Chuck had received had disputed his truthfulness about having a girlfriend and to make matters worse no one believed he ( Chuck) could have someone that looked like Sarah.

“ Chuck would never tell anyone about having a girlfriend like Sarah! “ Ellie told Morgan. “ Much less tell them how gorgeous she was!”

Ellie looked over at Morgan.

“ Morgan! Have you been reading Chuck e-mail and telling his friends things about his private life?”

Morgan just gave her that “Grimes space stare”.

“ Well it’s not like we keep secrets from each other Ellie! Best buds don’t do that. You know he lets me use his computer when mine goes on the fritz…..”

“Looking at porn I presume!” Ellie gave Chuck’s Buy More pal a look.

“ I prefer calling it “exploring the feminine physique. “ He said, “ Anyway I may have boasted a few times about a certain hottie that I……, I mean Chuck was dating with e-mails back to these guys, but…….” Morgan looked over at Chuck’s sister as she rolled her eyes at him.

“ Come on El, What good is male bonding if you never raise the bar so that your friends aren’t brought to a level of manly buddy worship? I only did it to boost Chuck’s viability. I mean the guy’s a GOD at video games and a genius with computers but even with all this…. and I hate to say it but he ain’t Bryce Larkin. This gives him some credibility as being someone who was more than a guy that was kicked out of school for cheating. I was hoping it would boost his confidence and give him that alpha male edge that Bryce had.”

In all of Morgan’s warped way of thinking he did have a point. Ellie hated herself for admitting it about her brother. The male population. what woman could understand it?

Anyway she could see Morgan’s point and decided her baby brother could use her help whether he wanted it or not. She would accompany him to his “buddy convention” and support what she knew to be the truth no matter what stories Morgan had spun to Chuck’s friends about him or not, she carried the credibility her brother may not have had in his younger days, but she was totally confident in her siblings abilities and she wanted to make his non-believers aware that her baby brother could in fact be the man that Morgan Grimes had presented him to be on the web. This weekend she was sure would change she little brother’s life. She would never have guessed it would change hers’ too.
