Well, in about two weeks, On the Drift, our album of music inspired by Firefly and Serenity, will be available online, but folks going to WonderCon in San Diego can pick up their copies at the Browncoat table. The CDs arrived just the other day, and I've sent out the pre-orders. It's really amazing to see something that's been nebulous for so long take on physical form. (Its physical form is a thousand CDs sitting in my den . . . ) I'll be sure to post here as soon as online sales are a reality.

My band, the Bedlam Bards, was recently named amongst the top ten renfaire bands of 2005, so we'll have one song played on the Renaissance Festival Podcast Special Awards Edition. I of course requested "Ballad of Joss" in hopes of spreading the Signal. Check it out:

Well, I told people to get 'em while they're hot. And apparently they did, cuz they sold out in minutes. The good news is that more stock has already been shipped to CDBaby, and ordering will resume shortly. Folks who don't want to risk it can reserve one now by signing up at:

A friend of mine sent me this email through the site that is selling my band's Firefly-tribute CD: "Thank you for making this album. Since you converted me to the browncoats Cedric, I went on to convert all myfriends in Olympia, and everywhere they went (Tulsa, OK - San Diego, CA - Port Townsend, WA - Spokane, WA - Los Angeles, CA - Chapel Hill,NC - Alexandria, VA) they carried firefly on their back to spread to more people. I may never know how many people you've influenced, but thanks." Talk about making my day.

Wow, Chris Bridges is one darn clever dude. First he writes really great articles and columns about Serenifly at his newspaper job, and then he builds a website documenting all the shiny stuff that Browncoats can want. (Dear family, my birthday wish list is at www.SerenityStuff.com.) Then it turns out that he comes up with really great interview questions, as I learned when he interviewed me about my band's recent album, On the Drift: Music Inspired by Firefly and Serenity. The interview is at

Actually, I think Tricia Helfer is #6. (Why are women named after numbers so sexy?) No, really, though, an album of music inspired by Firefly and Serenity just hit #6 on the CDBaby charts. Check it out:

On the Drift: Music Inspired by Firefly and Serenity by the Bedlam Bards is currently at # 3 on the CDBaby charts, behind some soul singers and an album of "heavy-edge dark guitar pop," whatever that means. Sure, a lot of people would say, "Be happy with number 3. It's not like you're playing music that appeals to the mainstream. It's not like anybody cared about that Fireflux show when it was on, and nobody cares about it now." But I say the Browncoats can do better. I say we can show the world that it ain't over. I say we can hold this valley no matter what—'cause some things really do stay with you 'til the day you die. So, please, tell your friends. Tell your family. Tell the world. We're goin' for #1. And if you still ain't convinced by fiery rhetoric, listen to the samples. They're all there at
