CHRONICTHEHEDGEHOG

Haven't seen a post about this yet so thought I'd start one (though I'm sure there is one and I just missed it).

Joss was awesome, funny and clever as always. The interviewer could have stood to shut up some times though. No-one, I repeat NO-ONE, should interrupt Joss to give their opinions... Unless they're cast... Or someone I've heard of.

Gonna try and remember some of the things he said but the last few days have gone by so quickly I'm sure I'll forget a lot!

If Joss has anything to do with it, there's won't be a director's cut of the movie. The movie is his directors cut and though there's some amazing stuff on the cutting room floor, he's completely happy with the movie as it is.

A Spike movie is possible, signs are good but no definate yet.

Joss was asked about who he admires as a feminist role model. He loves Hilary Clinton and his mother. He also joked about Charlotte Church, but then admitted to owning every Charlotte Church album, and that he's gayer than the average bear, and the average bear? Wicked gay.

Make a movie about a space ship in trouble and Joss'll go see it. He also mentioned he loves Event Horizon (possibly my most hated film of all time)

He started talking about directing actors and it went something like "I've got great actors. I don't want to say Nathan Fillion, so Alexis Denisof is a great actor" then from the back we hear "I can hear you, you know!" Everyone turns around to see Nathan Fillion just sitting and watching the show!

He said before the cancellation of firefly he got really big headed and stopped listening to what the network and only concentrated on what he wanted to give them. If he'd really thought about it, he wouldn't have given them firefly because it isn't what they wanted.

He was asked about characterisation and said if you don't put a piece of yourself into your characters then they're not going to work. He then went on to make jokes about Jar Jar Binks and the prequels. Though he did admit that he loves George Lucas and thought Ep3 was the most politically relevant film of the year.

He wanted to make zombie movies when he was younger and cited George A Romero as a big influnce of his.

He made a pretentious vampire movie in college.

James Cameron is one of he favourite film makers.

He mentioned more but can't think of it right not. Will post if I remember!

And the premiere is closer...

sorry but what interview was this? Is it available for download or anything?

It's interesting that when he was younger he made a pretentious vampire movie (perhaps a precursor to Buffy), I wonder if like the DVDs of M Night Shyamalan's movies, that this early video of Joss' will make an appearance on the DVD. Yes it's unlikely, but who would have thought we'd see amateur movies by Shyamalan on DVD?

He also said he like Waterworld, later to qualify that he liked the "Idea of Waterworld".

Oh and its not a funny idea to get someone to write a script, re-write it in its entirity and then invite the original author to a read-through.

The usual problem with Act 3 of a movie, is in fact Acts 1&2.

And he thanks the UK for its input into the genre of reality TV which I think he does not like very much.

ummm - sure there was more...

Best £7.95 I'm ever going to have spent.

This was all from the Joss Whedon Q/A at the Edinburgh Film Fest. on the 23rd of August.

There were some video cameras, but I think they were just for the big screen projector - but there may be a vid out there somewhere.

LOL yes, I suppose you would

I feel really privileged having seen the movie now, because it's like I've got a backstage pass to read posts I would have normally avoided and engage in conversation in secret about certain moments

I think this class should be known as the All-knowing Browncoats. Or the Browncoats Secret Society

But then that would mean we'd be forming a division between the fans - and that's never good

No need - At the first near spoiler moment - (involved Joss mentioning a shot actually in a trailer) - the cry of "NO SPOILERS" went up - hell when later someone asked if they could ask a spoilish question, they were nearly lynched!

So, just in case anyone is missing out on how cute this joke is, 'Bears' is current gay slang for gay men who are large, hairy and cuddly, as opposed to the clean-cut, slim stereotype. Hence, your average Bear, is, indeed, wicked gay.

For any of you who weren't hip to the lingo, just consider me your bi sister, at your translating service.

And thanks, chronicthh, for the synopsis. Always great to hear the words of Joss, even second hand.
