I'm sure this question has already been discussed/answered in earlier posts (sorry, just too lazy to go searching through the entire archive) - but I'm curious to know, has anyone compiled information on the various "real world" locations where Firefly scenes were filmed?

One in particular that interests me is the tres moderne house used in the episode "Trash" (and naturally, many other places scattered throughout the series)...if such an informational Wiki exists out there in the Internets, I'd love to see it!

Many thanks...

Only The Shadow Knows...and Joss Whedon!

I'm doing good to know what happened to the "mule" and the Ariel ambulance... Wouldn't mind knowing where the house from Heart of Gold is... Heard that the sword fighing scene was somewhere on a Disney backlot??? but that was a while ago...

There was a little booklet put out and sold on eBay a while ago with most of the shooting locations.

The house you are interested in is the Japanese Garden, Van Nuys, CA which shares the grounds with the The Donald C. Tillman Water Reclamation Plant.
Their website
http://www.thejapanesegarden.com/index.html
has a ton of info and many views of the grounds
http://www.thejapanesegarden.com/garden_tour.html
and the administration building,
http://www.thejapanesegarden.com/tour_pg3.html#22
which is the tres moderne building you are interested in.

The settler's spaceship from Bushwacked is a standing set available for rent.

The site of the sword fight in Shindig is the Golden Oak Ranch.
http://studioservices.go.com/goldenoakranch/index.html

The scenes for Safe were shot at the Paramount Ranch
http://www.nps.gov/samo/planyourvisit/paramountranch.htm

Jaynestown was filmed at the Sable Ranch.
Look at the photos at the top of this page for Mudders Town
http://www.movielocationrental.com/LocationPhotos-RanchoMaria-and-Sabl
eRanch-SantaClaritaCA-CanyonCountry.htm

with Boss Higgins hacienda at the bottom.

This site
http://www.mannbiomedicalpark.com/
is the location for St. Lucy's in Ariel.

So, there you go.
That should get you started and there is lots more to look at.
Google is your friend!
(At least for location info.)

Fark! Nice dig Mike. If I had an extra mil I'd ask those set builders to build me a space ship house.

Thanks a million Mike, much appreciated!
A veritable treasure trove of info there (funny...I actually lived in Van Nuys once!)

And yeah, I actually did try to do a Google search for these locations...obviously my search parameter skills suck, 'cause I wasn't finding anything (kept pulling up IMDB page references that didn't really say anything)

Many thanks again!

I can't take the credit for more than the quick compilation.
The little booklet I bought had most of the locations and another uberfan, BronsonBB, posted the spaceship info here:
http://www.fireflyprops.net/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=504
When asked how he found it, he said:

I found out from some wiki page somewhere that
the same 'ship' was used in a Power Rangers series
so I figured it had to be a permanent fixture somewhere.

So I started lookin' and a few hours later, I found it.

The Firefly Companion book, "Still Flying" has some location info and gorgeous pictures.
They note that the "Heart of Gold" tin foil house was out in the desert past Lancaster California, near where they shot desert footage for a number of Firefly episodes.

Really, all three of the Firefly Companion books are indispensable references, plus they contain the shooting scripts.
