Here's what's on the screen of the in-progress personal log in Bushwacked (copied from freeze-framing the DVD). The last character looks like an insertion point.

[pre] PASSENGER 4352 - Shultz, Sharone I received a communique regarding the shipment and have been apprised of the situation awaiting us upon arrival at the docking bay as well. I have been assured that every precaution has been taken to insure the safe arrival and expedient dispersion of said materials. All is under control. Will contact representatives upon arrival.

PERSONAL LOG

PASSENGER 4399 - Robinson, Johann Today, my darling, for the first time I regret embarking on this journe [/pre]

NOOCYTE

Chilling.

Also hints at how some Alliance functionary weighed the real value in that doomed transport's manifest.

Thanks for the transcription.

TEELABROWN

Sends a chill down my spine.

When I watched that episode, it was about 5 am, because I couldn't get any sleep. I went back to bed at six, but I couldn't get in it because I was afraid that the Reaver kid (Poor him, his mind must be in worse shap than River's) was under my bed. Kinda stupid, but still, Reavers are scary.

Keep flyin'!

MAYRE

Ya know? This episode showed something really creepy when the Reaver kid was in the medical unit on the Aliance ship. He's lying there on the bed and the docs are examining him. All his stats are whacked. His heart rate is rapid, his temperature is too high, etc... After he kills the doctor, everything returns to normal. Could it be that Reavers have a physiological need to kill? Or has this observation been noted previously and I'm covering old ground? :)

That is pretty interesting, the vital signs thing there.

So yeah, maybe Reavers are lacking some brain chemical which makes them all manner of whacky, but when they engage in senseless violence the brain produces the chemical and which gives them some sense of stability. So when they kill they get an influx of the chemical which relaxes them. Killing then could be like drinking for normal people, then if they kill too much they go frenzy-ish like a shark.

Hmmm, could explain why their ship in Serenity looked so sharklike maybe.

I tried freeze-framing this, and I saw the last part where it was mid-log. It was freeky.

The attention to detail in Firefly is awesome. Most series would just have some sort of jibberish on the screen.

River, bless her heart, got at least one dose of the Pax too. Could this be where Mr. Universe came up with, "And she would be sleepy"? He sees all, you know.

I think maybe for Reavers killing releases endorphins. You know chemicals that make you feel good and happy. In most people they are released by chocolate, alcohol, and being in love. Also it may release some calming chemical (can't remember what it's called) kind of like smoking can for some people or yoga. Yeah, that's it killing is Reaver yoga. How messed up is that?????
