Fray Dear Heart,

Don't run out and get cable for Dead Like Me, they cancelled it. I cried real tears. Season 2 will be out on dvd the second week in June. No chance of rekindling it either, the cast members have taken long-term roles elsewhere.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Me too, but I was dumb enough to pay for S2 as well. Great series, but "more money than brains" price. Problem is, if I have 5 cents (7 cents U.S.) I still have more money than brains.

Yeah, knew about that...but looking forward to getting the second box-set. As I've only just finished watching the first one at least I won't have too big a gap in between.

Really? I paid $34.99 for mine, I think. I have season S1&2, though season 2 has 12 eps. And they both came in the cute parkas. Did yours have the parka?

And that, besides Firefly, which was a gift, is the only TV I've ever bought myself. But I will buy LOST when it comes out.

I've gotten to where I prefer to own stuff on DVD, than watch it on TV. On DVD you have a known quantity, whether it has been cancelled or not. You don't have that "I like this show so how soon will it be cancelled" feeling.

Buffy Angel X-Files Millenium DS9 CSI-Las Vegas only Dark Angel Highlander 4400 Dead Zone Smallville Red Dwarf (except some one borrowed and never returned season two, must fix that)

Except for CSI, note the sci fi trend.

How could I have forgotten to put Smallville in my list?! I added it now.

L&C: Actually I haven't started watching them yet :p I have way too many DVDs waiting to be watched. But, I had previously been downloading some xVid caps of the first season while I was waiting for the DVDs. And, I had been enjoying those (I watched maybe about 10 episodes). I have no idea what's going to happen! And I'm enjoying the characters. It was a fun show, and I'm looking forward to watching the entire first season again.

I tend to buy a lot of DVDs... when I have money to spend. If I enjoyed a TV show/movie at all, I will buy the DVD.

MSCL: Thanks! Wow, that is expensive. Though I wasn't expecting many special features for a 10-year-old show.

Oh yeah - Red Dwarf V-VI, I don't have I-IV.

By the way, more on L&C. I started watching the DVDs and the quality is excellent. For a TV show that is 10 years old, the DVDs are very nice. Definitely enjoying the episodes too. As for that bonus DVD, meh. It doesn't even have a Smallville label on it, it's a WB something-or-other, so it ain't nothing special. Smallville Season 4 releases in September or something anyway.

I was a big fan of L&C back in the day, but I somehow managed to miss the pilot, so seeing that for the first time the other day was a special treat for me! It set up the series rather nicely, I thought. And I think the video quality is a little uneven, but more than acceptable (downright shiny in some spots!). And I find that the show is a lot funnier to me now than when I first saw it. Now if they could just release The Flash on dvd, my superhero needs would be met.

I got the 1st and 2nd seasons, the third is out end of August, and let me tell ya, aside from the suspension of disbelief you need to buy that David Caradine is half Chinese, that show holds up amazingly well. My biggest critique of it when it was broadcast was that the fight scenes weren't as exciting as they could have been. 30 years and uncounted kung fu and karate classes later I see that it has some of the most realistic and beautiful ( I know, sounds like a contradiction- I mean beautiful like intricate yet simple) fight scenes I've ever seen. And the stories, while peppered with some psuedo-Buddist sayings, really make points that are as relevent today as ever. However much I love Dark Angel, Kung Fu made me think, a rare thing for any show to do.

Yep. B7 is pretty amazing. OK, the costumes look like something out of ABBA, but the writing is mostly very good and it has a lot of the past meets future elements of Firefly, not to mention a tryannical future government.

I bought my region free DVD player to watch Sapphire & Steel. That was another amazing but short lived series. A lot of suspense, a slow pace, but you never know where it's going. Absolutely brilliant. It starred Joanna Lumley (Absolutely Fabulous) and David McCallum (NCIS). The first story is brilliant but should have been done in four parts instead of six. It lags in places. When you get to the second story, the one in the railway station, you are hooked.

The TV on DVD that I own..:

Father Ted Complete Series Firefly (2 copies of that, actually) Freaks and Geeks Complete Series Fruits Basket Complete Series Futurama Complete Series Miracles Complete Series South Park Season 1 The West Wing Seasons 1+2 (haven't watched that yet, but it was recommended, and I got it pretty cheaply second-hand.)

DVDs I'm going to get: Dead Like Me Season 1 + 2 Farscape Seasons 2, 3, 4 and PK Wars.

I have to wonder how old you are. The reason I ponder this is because the show was made in the '70s. It was low budget BBC stuff even then. It has near enough the cheesiest special effects in the 'verse. I wonder if that's what makes you judge it so unkindly.

The writing is what made B7 a great series. Also, if you've only seen season one you haven't seen the best stuff. Oh, there are good season one episodes. It gets much darker in season two. Season one doesn't kill off any major characters. Travis is an over-the-top killer. A whole lot hasn't been developed yet.

Brian Croucher's season two portrayal of the disgraced and depressed and much darker Travis was far better. (Yes, changing actors in midstream was cheesy and you are left to assume his time in prison included plastic surgery.) The writing gets better as well although I happen to like season one.

I didn't see it the first time as something 25+ years old. I saw it first run. In it's time it was brilliant.

I will also freely admit that at 18 or so I thought Paul Darrow (who played Ker Avon) was "just so swai[/]".

I have no problem with the low-budget part of it. That was kind of charming actually. I just wasn't engaged at all, while watching it.

I did make an effort to go through the entire season, but I just didn't enjoy it. Although the first few episodes were okay, I guess. I'm not trying to badmouth the show, it's just not my kind of thing.

Space Giants!! SWEET. I have that series also. All I need now are Spectraman, and Ultraman, and my Japanese Giant robo shows will be complete. As a kid, I was really into these shows.

I first saw B7 about 10 years ago... I got tired of not getting all the references to the show, so finally found someone to make me tapes and I was hooked about halfway into the first season. I have tried to convert others, especially Farscape fans (Grayza is so Servalan) but haven't had much success. But I still love it. Unfortunately, I absolutely loved Blake and about all that are left around are Avon fans, unless you want to go the slash route.

I still want the show on dvd but only region 1. I do have one region-free player but I can wait...
