While reading a review of Sin City from Creative Loafing, I was struck with ...well, you figure it out.

Quote:

Sin City amounts to little more than a heedless immersion in such a hormone-fueled preoccupations as comic books, femme fatales, fight scenes, big guns, even classic cars and model dinosaurs.

I knew next to nothing about Sin City before I saw the previews, and am still generally clueless per this story. It looks cool and has some big time names in it, so what the hey..I'll go check it out.

Spooky - Thanks for the clarification. However, don't you think that if Wash could have large Dinos on board Serenity , he would ? I know I sure would, but then that'd make 'em harder to play with....

Zeek - Can't let that one go w/ out the reply... That's why I never kiss'em on the mouth

I've been reading the graphic novels of Sin City and they are REALLY GOOD. I'm hoping the movie won't ruin it for me...although I'm counting on Britany Murphy to do that. :P

In an etertainment weekly article. Director Rodriguez explained how hard he tried to stay true to the books. I'm thinking of calling in sick to goto the matinee. If only to turn it into an April 1st joke. Ill go sat morning D+D on friday nights. I am such a geek.
Speaking of the dlicious Jessica. We next get to see her in skin tight spandex on fantastic 4 in July. We will also be getting action figures of both Nancy and Sue Storm(invisible girl). Two action figure of her hottness in one year. Not to mention the already existing Dark angel figures out there. Did I mention my geekness.

Sorry folks, no sex under dinosaurs. In "The Big Fat Kill", one of three books the movie consists of, Dwight (Clive Owen's character) goes to the tar pits for a wholy different reason. There is however some bloodshed and there may be torture. Let's just say Jayne would be proud.

For all you Alba fans out there, she is I believe the ONLY female star in the movie NOT to be naked in any fashion...yet she plays a stripper. I guess not a very good one. But this is the first of a long line of movies I want to check out this year, and I am not an avid movie goer. This should be an excellent year for movies.

Yeah, The Big Fat Kill - crap, my brian immediatly jumped to the little stories probably because "Just Another Saturday Night" and "The Customer Is Always Right" are so prominant in the trailer.

was that the interview i remember where they basically said, that they knew it would not appeal to the masses and that they actually couldnt care less, because it is the movie they WANTED to make and not what they hoped the general audience would like? that alone sold it to me... more directors should say "screw the idiots, i dont care about catering to the intellectual bottom feeders" *fg*

Well, SpookyJesus, I heard the movie was based on "The Hard Goodbye", "Those Yellow Bastards" and "The Big Fat Kill". I personally couldn't care less about the hot chicks, and am a teensy bit disappointed at the lack of eye candy for me. Oh well - Marv's my favorite character anyway, and he certainly isn't much to look at. I have my $ set aside and will DEFINITELY be seeing it tomorrow. *Squuuuuuueal!*

Guess again. She's phenominal. Sure, she didn't get nekkid, but she is damn amazing. Just because we didn't SEE her get naked, doesn't mean she wasn't a very good stripper. I'm betting that you'll see a spike in sales of Dark Angel DVDs.

PS - Then again, prolly all those who obsess over Jessica already have her Dark Angel DVDs.
PPS - I enjoyed the flick.

Sin City is a fantastic film.
I give it four stars (or more accurately, four emphatic gun blasts)!

I'm betting I will see this film at least twice again before it leaves the theaters. Man oh man. Easily the best comic book adaptation yet. It's amazing what can be accomplished when you stick to the source material and hire as co-director the creator of said source material.

Early returns had Sin City pulling in $28 million and winning the weekend. I hope these digits warrant the funding of a sequel!

Here! Here!

There was plenty of eye candy. Also Jessica alba is as hot in t-shirt and jeans as about ten other folks are nude.

It was altogether beautiful and very true to miller's style (haven't read sin city so I can't comment there.)

If Frank will direct the next batman film I may forgive him for DK2.

You guys really liked it that much? I thought it was just the same thing over and over again. Big brute save girl from mean man.

I was hoping for some more skin from Jessica myself. Too bad though.

I wouldn't say it's a terrible movie or anything, but once was enough for me.

Just "big brute saves girl from mean man", hmmm Zeek? Then how does that account for the deaths of Goldie, Lucille, Becky, and the 6 prostitutes??? Perhaps they were bruteless. Plus, it may seem like the big brutes have the edge, but did you happen to see ANY of the scenes in Old Town? It seemed pretty obvious to me that those girls can take care of themselves, especially Gail and Miho.

I agree that it was one of the best comics adaptions, hands down. I mean, a lot of it is panel-for-panel and exact dialogue from the brilliant graphic novels. I too, will probably see it again before it leaves theaters. It's not that I think it's the greatest movie ever made, or the dead sea scrolls or anything, but at least it's not "Beauty Shop".

Yes, and she acts circles around Jessica Alba and her Magical Undulating Torso; this makes me worry about the Fantastic Four movie, 'cause this leaves just Michael Chiklis to carry the film....

In any case, for those curious, here's a nice article on _Sin City_....
