No sarcasm or disrespect intended but, I am truly shocked that anyone cares about this trailer or this movie after how horrible the first two prequels were. How many times are we supposed to be fooled before we get a clue that George Lucas is a very sorry has been.

I'll pass on the trailer and on the movie and wait for some real storytelling.

I did miss this thread. Doubly posting it was unintentional. Slashdot had some funny responses.

And I would like to mention that I may very well be the only person on this entire board who doesn't absolutely hate George Lucas or Star Wars these days.

That's all right, it was an honest mistake. I'm not mad or anything.

You're not the only one, and I suspect there are more just keeping quiet (Star Wars bashing is very trendy these days). I don't agree with everything Lucas has done (Why the special editions?!?!) but it's his story and I'm glad he's told it.

Does anyone else find the pairing of Star Wars and The O.C. odd? I get how a Fox Executive would think it's a great idea but... wait a sec, I just used 'Fox executive' and 'think' in the same sentence. I may have answered my own question...

It's about ratings. Since they figure young people watch The O.C. and that is the target audience for the Star Wars franchise.

Yeah, I get that, it's just that I don't see The O.C.'s audience as being huge fans of Star Wars (which is a gross generalization, I know, but there it is.)

Edit: Kind of forgot to add the main part of the post, which is that this type of preview will likely attract an audience looking specifically for it. If Fox was playing it smart they would use the preview to attract an audience to one of their struggling shows.

I guess it could be worse. They could have put the preview during Trading Spouses or some other reality show.

Apparently during last night's episode of The O.C., a brief promo spot for Episode 3 aired, which showed a few scenes from the trailer.

Warning: It's very brief, only a few seconds.

I'm also looking forwards to the next movie. They've progressively gotten better from #1, and I don't know why people insist on comparing them to the old ones...

Very cool preview, can't wait to see it.

It's tonight.

The trailer probably won't be shown until the end of the show, that's what they did for the Episode 2 trailer when that premiered during Malcolm in the Middle in 2002.

Star Wars Goes to Hell
Source: CBS News March 10, 2005

Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith was interviewed by CBS' 60 Minutes and says the third and final prequel will not likely receive the PG rating the previous five films have received.

"I don't think I would take a five- or a six-year-old to this," says Lucas, "It's way too strong."

Lucas is referring to violent scenes in the film and also to Anakin Skywalker's journey to the dark side in the climax of the 30-year-old
series. "We're going to watch him make a pact with the devil," Lucas tells the program.

He says Skywalker will be descending into Lucas' frightening vision of Hell, a mythical planet composed entirely of erupting volcanos. "Yes...the lava at the end...it ends in hell."

"[The film] is much more dark...more emotional. It's much more of a tragedy," adds Lucas. "My feeling is that it will probably be a PG-13, so it will be the first Star Wars that's a PG-13."

The interview will be broadcast on Sunday, March 13 from 7:00-8:00pm, ET/PT.

Quake in thou boots, PG-13, ooooh... ROTFL.

Yeah, I've been reading on various websites that Episode 3 was going to be rated PG-13 for over a year.

What we have is a better grasp of the plot now. Nothing wrong with it. Some special effects shots that look pretty good, tastes of fight scenes that look incredible.

I'm skeptical still. The trailers for the last two movies had the same things =P.

Another Star Wars fan here and not ashamed to admit it. I have a countdown poster to Episode III in my classroom, have schooled my students in Jedi identification, and am eagerly looking forward to Celebration III. Completely understand people's reasons for being disillusioned and not liking the prequels/Lucas, but I love my films.

Was going to hold out and wait to see the trailer in the theater tomorrow, but succumed to temptation. Somewhat of a departure from the other prequel trailers, so it took me a few viewings to take it all in. I'm mostly spoiler free, so a lot of the scenes were shocking or didn't make much sense. But yay for Ewan and that Bail Organa scene looks shiny. But 'twas not all a positive reaction...no handmaidens.

MTFBWY,
Andé...the shiny handmaiden :)

Well, ep one was ok. Didn't hate it. Didn't LOVE it.

Ep two annoyed me (I cannot mention often enough how completely I cannot believe Amidala could fall in frelling LOVE with that annoying, whiny, PSYCHO Anakin. Yeah - REAL attractive there, buddy. *shudder*)

Ep three's trailer was enough to finally give me some small hope that maybe, hust maybe, episode three might be ok. Might even be good. It's possible Lucas might have actually heard us complaining. Maybe.

It's not like how I feel about Serenity. I quite expect my husband to refuse to be seen with me after what I expect I might do when I see the trailer for Serenity. If I'm the only one standing and screaming and cheering, well, it'll be sad, but I won't notice lol.

three words: jedi mind trick. only explanation. that or some REALLY impressive force sex techniques (must have been the dark side, seeing how jedi are expected to be emotionless robots).

Hehe

I just saw the trailer, and man, I'm impressed, and this movie has taken 2nd place for the most anticipated movies of the year for me. It appears that there's some more better camera work for this, which I'm happy about. I can't wait to see this now.

Lucas bowed to quite a few of the fans' wishes with Episode II. They wanted him to get another screenwriter, they got it. They wanted him to feature more action and the Clone Wars, they got it. He even threw in Boba Fett in the hopes that it'd please the fanbase.

I actually hope this is less aimed at the fans. I liked Attack of the Clones more than The Phantom Menace, but it didn't feel like a Star Wars movie. It felt like Lucas checking off a list of things he thought everyone would like to see.

my problem is that the prequels have not a single character that i would care about. you dont care what happens to them and so you dont care what they say or even do.

but here is hoping that with all the announced ground- space- and lightsaber-battles going on the movie will be mostly mindless action from front to back and somebody concentrated enough on what little dialogue remains to not make it blah.

The O.C. Star Wars trailer is now availible for everyone to see on the offical Star Wars website.

I finally watched it (wasn't going to watch a whole episode of a bad primetime soap just to see it), and it looks really good! Despite the temptaion to Lucas bash, this one has the porential to be the best SW movie yet!

Typical of the offical site, you can't download it to your computer, but you can watch it on the site.

I'd given some thought to movin' off the edge -- not an ideal location -- thinkin' a place in the middle.
