Tonight's (1/22/05) Justice League Unlimited episode The Once and Future Thing Part One: Weird Western Tales featured Adam Baldwin as the voice of DC Comics old-west bounty hunter hero Jonah Hex. This marks, by my count, the fourth time Firefly Alumni have voiced characters on the series.

Specifically, Gina Torres provides the voice for the superheroine Vixen, Nathan Fillion as the modern-day but old-west styled hero The Vigilante, and Morena Baccarin stars as the Black Canary.

It used to be joked that Disney's Gargoyles was where old Star Trek/Next Gen stars went to die. It looks like Firefly is staking its claim on the DC comics animated universe!

Also -- it's nice to note that none of our crew have been cast as villians so far. In other words, our Big Damn Heroes are still playing Big Damn Heroes! Shiny!

Edited for spelling.

As of yesterday (Feb 4), YTV has finally started airing new JLU episodes. (We've been in reruns since ruttin' November!)

I was gonna post about it, but then I spotted this. The ep also features Farscape's Ben "Crichton" Browder as Bat Lash (he's unrecognizable, I just spotted the name in the credits).

Some cool Firefly-esque lines, though not really from Hex/Jayne.

Next episode: Batman Beyond! Batman Beyond! Batman Beyond!!!

Yeah, I'm a fan.

Yeah, it was really cool hearing Jayne's voice coming out of Jonah Hex. I also missed Browder until I read the credits, and am looking forward to finally seeing a little more Batman Beyond (wish they never cancelled that, it was a fun show... stupid WB, always cancelling good shows before their time... not quite as bad as Fox, which just cancels them before they have a chance).

Took YTV long enough to show new eps. At one point we were ahead of Cartoon Network. What happened? But the cool thing is, if YTV stays on track, we'll be caught up by the time Cartoon Network starts showing new episodes in April. So basically we'll get to see new Justice Leagues a day before the U.S. Okay, so it's not that big of a deal, but how often do we in Canada get to see shows before the States?

Anyway... Yeah, JLU was great last night. I had already seen it but with everything in reruns right now, an old ep of JLU is better than nothing. Got my sister to watch too, but I ended up explaining everything to her. But hearing Adam as Jonah was damn cool. Just wait until Morena shows up at Black Canary. And I can't wait to hear Nathan as Vigilante.

Yeah, it's cool.. can't wait for the Huntress/Black Canary episode. It's written by Gail Simone, who writes the Birds of Prey comic (and who I got to interview on my site), one of my favorite comic writers right now.

And not just "Adam;" did anybody else get a mental echo of Jayne (and Hamilton, and Animal Mother, and. . .) when he said that "I've led an int'restin' life" line?

Int'restin' indeed.
