I've been wrackin my brains over the past week or so, and have come up with a list of characters I would like to see in future X-men movies, and actors that could play them. There are a few of our BDH's on the list. Oh, and I've been watching a lot of Lord of the Rings and Babylon 5 recently, so that may have coloured some of my choices. Anyway:

Mr Sinister - Rufus Sewell
Bishop - Michael Dorn
Marrow - Nana Visitor
Archangel - Orlando Bloom
Apocalypse - Christopher Judge
Morph - Alan Tudyk
Arcade - Mike Myers
Juggernaut - Adam Baldwin
Forge - Morgan Freeman
Banshee - Sean Bean
Havok - Brad Pitt
Black Tom - Jason Carter
Blob - Meat Loaf
Cassandra Nova - Geraldine McEwan
Lilandra - Mira Furlan
Avalanche - Brian Thompson
Gambit - Luke Perry
Vargas - Antonio Banderas
The White Queen - Julie Benz
Callisto - Sigourney Weaver
Maggott - J August Richards
Cable / Stryfe - Richard Dean Anderson
Sebastian Shaw - Hugo weaving
Psylocke - Bai Ling
And finally, if Halle Berry does not reprise the role of Storm, how about replacing her with Gina Torres?

What casting ideas do you have? For these characters and others I may have missed?

*deleted cuz I'm nice*

I HAD to tease you :P

Awesome ideas on some of those. Others I'm not familiar enough with the characters to have an opinion on.

ANY time Brian Thompson is suggested, I'm 100% behind it :P The guy is awesome (and really nice)

My online friends and I play this game a lot.

Quote:

Mr Sinister - Rufus Sewell

Don't know who Rufus Sewell is off hand. I always figured Tim Curry. Maybe it's the whole Rocky Horror thing. ;)
Quote:

Bishop - Michael Dorn

Sorry, you're incorrect. The best possible Bishop is Keith Hamilton Cobb (he played Tyr on Andromeda for the first few years)

Quote:

Marrow - Nana Visitor

Don't see it. Don't know who'd work off hand, but she'd be covered by makeup anyway.
Quote:

Archangel - Orlando Bloom

Hmmm... maybe.
Quote:

Apocalypse - Christopher Judge

That could work.
Quote:

Morph - Alan Turdyck

I don't much like Morph. I'd rather see Alan Tudyk play something like... uhm... Banshee? I dunno, can't think of any other redhead types men.
Really, I'd rather he not be in a movie at all, the slot used for something else.
Quote:

Arcade - Mike Myers

Can't see Arcade even being in a movie, so don't care to speculate.

Quote:

Juggernaut - Adam Baldwin

I could see him doing the voice, but if it's ever required for him to be unmasked, no, he just doesn't look the part.

Quote:

Forge - Morgan Freeman

That's a bit of an odd choice. He could work, though I'd rather cast an actor who's actually Native American.

Quote:

Banshee - Sean Bean

I can never get past this guy's name to form a mental picture of how he looks.

Okay, I'm sick of going line by line, so I'm just going to go with the ones I have a specific comment on..

Quote:

Gambit - Luke Perry

Can't see it. I don't know if he can do the accent but... What'shisname, the guy who did Lindsay on Angel. Or Orlando Bloom.

Quote:

Cable / Stryfe - Richard Dean Anderson

Can't see this. Clint Eastwood, for me.

Quote:

Sebastian Shaw - Hugo weaving

I actually like Adrian Paul of Highlander for this, maybe it's cause I once saw a flashback of him in old-style clothes that just reminded me of Sebastian.

Quote:

Psylocke - Bai Ling

Ewww! Sorry, I'm not a fan of nimbo Betsy as it is. If they were going that way, nothing at all against Bai Ling, but when I've seen her, she does seem to have a noticeable accent - I'd rather someone who doesn't have one, or who has an English one, even if she's Asian.

Quote:

And finally, if Halle Berry does not reprise the role of Storm, how about replacing her with Gina Torres?

I can't see it for her. I'd rather just lose Storm.

What casting ideas do you have? For these characters and others I may have missed?

Kitty Pryde - Jewel Staite or Summer Glau (although if it's a really young Kitty that probably wouldn't work)
Chamber - James Marsters
J. August Richards would make a decent Synch from Generation X.
Sage - Morena Baccarin

Hubby and I had to go over your list :)

Mr Sinister - Rufus Sewell - I suppose, but we'd rather see Tom Cruise. Not that I think he'd do it.

Bishop - Michael Dorn - too old - how about the guy who played Spawn in the movie version.

Marrow - Nana Visitor - we're not familiar with the character enough.

Archangel - Orlando Bloom - I suppose, although I'd rather see someone a little older, a handsome blonde guy. Can't really think of anyone, though.

Apocalypse - Christopher Judge - Good choice. I like him a lot. He's got the kick-ass voice, too.

Morph - Alan Tudyk - Eh, no. Giovanni Ribisi.

Arcade - Mike Myers - Yep, good choice.

Juggernaut - Adam Baldwin - No. He's just not big ENOUGH. Need someone HUGE. Like a Football player, like the guy from Broken Arrow. Someone GIANT.

Forge - Morgan Freeman - Nah - how about Hector.. Umm.. Chakotay (he was Hector in Night of the Comet). He's old enough, and he's an Indian. Lou D. Phillips would be cool, to, except he's maybe not big enough. He'd do a good job, tho.

Banshee - Sean Bean - He could do it - but he needs to really up the accent. Rather see the guy that played Faramir - plus, he looks more like the girl playing his daughter in X2.

Havok - Brad Pitt - Um, he needs to be YOUNGER than Cyclops, remember? How about the kid from Troy who played Brad Pitt's cousin?

*edit* ok, we could see Jonny Lee Miller as Havok.

Black Tom - Jason Carter - he'd be cool, but I'd rather see Swearengin - I mean Ian McShane :)

Blob - Meat Loaf - nah, either one of the blonde fat dumb kids from Evolution (the ones who saved everyone by reccomending the use of dandruff shampoo).

Cassandra Nova - Geraldine McEwan - don't know the character or the actress.

Lilandra - Mira Furlan - PERFECT.

Avalanche - Brian Thompson - well, I love Brian but I don't know who avalanche is.

Gambit - Luke Perry - No. Would love to see Antonio Banderas - he's not cajun, but I think he could do the accent, and he can be annoying/charming the way Gambit is.

Vargas - Antonio Banderas - Don't know who Vargas is, but see above :P

The White Queen - Julie Benz - Sure. I got no beef with her, and honestly, I think ANY pretty model looking chick with blonde hair could pull off the White Queen.

Callisto - Sigourney Weaver - Absolutely, very cool. Older, mean and bitchy, sounds like a match.

Maggott - J August Richards - don't know who maggott is, but I like Gunn.

Cable / Stryfe - Richard Dean Anderson - not big enough, and not enough Presence to pull it off. He's great, but I can't see him as Cable. Someone with a more military look. Maybe Bruce Willis?

Sebastian Shaw - Hugo weaving - He's got the presence, he's awesome.

Psylocke - Bai Ling - I like the look. Don't know about the rest. She's cool, half the comics she's asian, half she's not, so could go either way.

And finally, if Halle Berry does not reprise the role of Storm, how about replacing her with Gina Torres?

Hmm, Gina has the presence and the personality to play an excellent Storm, but I don't know if I can SEE her as Storm. I think sh'ed kick ass, but I have trouble with it visually - can't explain it better than that.

Kitty Pryde was already in the first movie, and that girl looked fine.

that's our four cents worth (we count as double cuz there's two of us :P)

No and hell no! I love Gambit really, and Luke Perry is just not up to the part at all. Olivier Martinez (who already has the accent as he's French, and he was gorram sexy in "Unfaithful") should do it.

And please, let's leave Orlando Bloom out of everything! The dude does nothing for me at all, and he can't bring Archangel to life - he's too damn wooden, IMVHO.

I don't see Luke Perry as Gambit at all.

I almost see Colin Ferrall playing the part. Though he was already used in Daredevil and that sorta makes a Marvel universe collision.

Welllll.... if he could stop being Mike Myers for five minutes this MIGHT work. Myers should take a few years off from acting and study the word subtle.

Might be better to get someone who's celebrity won't trump the character they're playing. This criteria also eliminates Tom Cruise from ANY future role, least of all an X-Men role.

"Hey look! It's TOM CRUISE playing some guy with grey hair!"

"Oh, and there's TOM CRUISE in ancient Japan!"

He's waaaaay too big and has become his own worst distraction. Perhaps he should take a decade off from acting and become a corporate CEO or something.

Mike Myers is in a similar boat with his over-the-top-wink-at-the-audience nature. Way too distracting.

To Starpilotgrainger:

Rufus Sewell is the Black Knight from A Knight's Tale and the star of Dark City.

Keith Hamilton Cobb as Bishop. Good idea. I personally can't choose between him and Michael Dorn.

I agree that Forge should really be played by a Native American. But I couldn't think of any Native American actors who are anything like him. So I settled for somebody who looks wrong but has the right personality.

Luke Perry seems like a controversial choice for Gambit. I wasn't sure of it in the first place. I agree, Christian Kane (Lindsey) would be great.

James Marsters as Chamber. I like it, i like it, I like it.

To Shadesiren:

I agree that Adam Baldwin isn't big enough to be Juggernaut. I don't think anyone is, so they'd have to use camera tricks.

Chakotay from Voyager as Forge? Nah, I see him more as the original Thunderbird.

Vargas was a really cool villain from the X-treme X-men comic. He was suave and deadly and killed several X-men. He weilded a sword and looked exactly like Antonio Banderas. Plus, he acted like a cross between Armand and the character from Desperado. Trust me, Vargas and Antonio Banderas are one and the same.

Avalanche was a member of the Brotherhood of evil mutants. Cassandra Nova was Professor X's evil twin sister. Maggott was a guy who's degestive system had mutated and come to life as two giant slugs that could eat through anything. J August Richards could play him well, but could also be Synch. He is probably more like Synch, admittedly.

Oh, and I've come up with a new one: Rudolph Martin as Shinobi Shaw.

My ultimate choice for Gambit would be Sean Patrick Flannery. I can see the flamboyance from Boondock Saints be put to good use in the role of Gambit. Him, or maybe Scott Caan.

They've already established Jubilee as an Asian chick in the deleted scenes from the first two movies, so I think at this point, they'll actually have her as a character in the third one.

Most of the characters that have been mentioned I'm not familiar with. But one casting choice I've heard that I think would be cool to see is Edward Norton playing Gambit. I think that would be cool to see on the big screen, don't you think?

Was just thinking... I know they'll likely never include the character, but if they _did_, it'd be _perfect_ casting (IMHO):

X-23: Summer Glau

Particularly the way she was drawn in NYX (although maybe not exactly as her role was) -

Recently I came across someone on the net (I think it was on AICN) suggesting Josh Holloway (Sawyer from "LOST") as Gambit.

Here's a few off the wall....and some supporting previous ideas.

Forge- Antonio Banderas
Gambit- Denis Quaid (think The Big Easy)
Juggernaut- HHH
Thunderbird- The Rock
Havok- Ryan Reynolds
Banshee- Colm Meaney

Bear in mind that Forge, Gambit and Banshee are the older X-men.

Not sure who HHH is. There are rumors circulating - perhaps they've been confirmed already - that Vinnie Jones ( http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0005068/) has been cast as the Juggernaut for X-Men 3.

He and the director, Matthew Vaughn, are good friends.
