I concur. A little dark and not much charactor developement yet but it shows promise.

They are test marketing the show on Sky One in Britian.

It is a great show, with alot of potential.

The last two eps had a two part story arc, I really hope they continue with this style, the writing has more time to fill out the stories.

Can't wait to see more

It seems strange for them to do that. I mean, they've spent the money making the episodes already, what are they gunna do if the test fails? not release the show anywhere else? Seems silly.

It gives them time to tweak the show depending on the response in Britain. I've d'led all the available shows (bittorrent I love you!) and have been circulating them ahead of time trying to make sure this sci-fi show has the shot Firefly didn't get.

If I recall correctly, Sky One put up half the money for the show with the qualification that they get to show the episodes first.

Yes, I've been downloading them too. It has a lot of potential.

Zoic is doing the CGI and it's much like Firefly with the zooms and lens flares.

Sky One is getting it first only because they put up half (or more) of the $$$ required to produce the series. I haven't heard it having anything to do with "test marketing" before now.....where'd you hear that?

It does rock, though.

I cracked up in the episode where Starbuck shouts "Frack me".

I wonder when we'll get a "felgercarb", remember that one?

The scenes with the new Baltar amuse me as well. He comes across really well as a paranoid psycotic. The sexy cylon chick in his head would be somewhat a problem i'd say, the man would be walking around with a permanent hard-on.

Charactor developement has improved dramatically. This should be a must watch in Jan or via early sharing (cough cough).

I read on another board that the version to be played in Jan might have a re-edit depending on the results from Sky One...

Maybe abit of both

Yeah, they may have to dumb it down for the American Audience. We-uns ain't got much smarts. We needs more wrastlin' and nudity.

I've seen that 1 Hour presentation they aired on Sci-fi. It kinda took me by surprise when they switched the genders on a few roles.

With ya 100% about this show.

I saw the mini-series and thought it was the best TV I'd watched since Firefly. Why? Real drama!

... and the look of the show is a new artistic standard thanks to the people at Zoic! FX.

Battlestar Galactica was a Star Wars ripoff from the late 70s that became a TV show... and was cancelled after a season. The show was cheezy, badly written, and was mostly about Starbucks hair... which survived to play a role in The A-Team!

This remake, or reimaging, looks great and has a completely different tone. Rather like the original shows focus on the characters so too does this new production but with a definate edge that pushes the show into actual drama. The characters are all connected to each other emotionally without the silly stereo types. Starbuck and Apollo have a real reason to be close friends, for example.

The action shots are truly fantastic! Unlike other Sci-Fi shows that just look like toys shooting rays at each other in a video game, BG breaks into shaky cameras and clumbsy zoom shots giving the action tention, speed, and real ... hey I'll say it again - drama. I can tell these SPFX are done by Zoic! I noticed Serenity landing in one shot! lol!!!

The cylons were just robots to shoot, but in this new show the cylons have done something no one seems to have noticed. They destroyed all of humanity with almost no effort... because it was easier to use human weakness (Baltar) to destroy us. Drama!

Most Sci-Fi shows in the past have had ships floating about like little toys shooting rays at one another. Everything was smooth and easy - and boring. Well you know, I love spacy ships as much as the next guy but here comes something that, imho, makes all the space battles of the past seem like old fashioned SPFX. We are seeing the dawn of a new era where being slick isn't good enough... you have to be dramatic! Exciting!

You know, we have been flooded with slick CGI space battles and such for years. Hey great but it all has started to look suspiciously like someone was trying to sell me a toy. You know, a good French Connection car chase would be lame incarnate if it was filmed like a TV ad.

This new BG used shaky cameras, clumbsy zooms, and just blew me away with the tention and drama of these visuals. A real accomplisment in my view.

SO glad this is to be a series. Now if only Starbuck would come to my place and knock me around for a bit.

I've been watchin every week and have to say this is a good show and its getting better by the week. Its dark and almost unrelenting at times, good characters - I was worried about the whole Starbuck being a woman but she's great. The last episode with "the sexy cylon chick" was really really good. Yep, an improvement on the previous incarnation without a doubt.

I'm watching it on Sky One and its pretty good. I particularly liked the episode where they kept jumping to light speed only to have the cylons catch up exactly 33 minutes later (was it 33?).

I also liked the original and while the new version is better in most ways there are a couple of things I miss. In the original I liked the relationships that Starbuck and Apollo had with their respective girlfriends - the new series is very serious with little fun for the characters. Also in the new series the cylon attack was shown as a lot of big explosions seen from space - I preferred the original where they showed people running in panic in a mall as it was destroyed, even though the special effects were poor back then.

>> I wish Firefly had the same people backing it...

Sky One = News Corp = Fox so it did have the same people backing it.

>> We needs more wrastlin' and nudity.

Except of course if it actually has nudity when shown in the US, the station will be fined hundreds of thousands of pounds by the regulators. In the UK, if the show has nudity the regulators will say "Meh." Enjoy your free speech rights. :)

>> I noticed Serenity landing in one shot! lol!!!

Which episode and when?

>> I also liked the original and while the new version is better in most ways there are a couple of things I miss. In the original I liked the relationships that Starbuck and Apollo had with their respective girlfriends

I agree, we should definitely should see Starbuck and Apollo with their girlfriends. Lots of shots of Starbuck with girlfriend. Yes.

How do I download the episodes? I looked at Sky One but didn't see the links? Sorry if this has already been asked, but I didn't read ALL the posts above. Thanks!

Edit: Serenity is in the pilot (i.e. 4 hour mini-series) and flies overhead in Caprica city. I think the view is through a skylight.

There are a number of uploaders on Usenet, in a variety of formats. There are a number of bittorrent feeds too, though I haven't used these as they're less efficient in my circumstances. Spoiled for choice

Thanks for the info. I took a look at both those links and they are a tad confusing. Guess I'm having a Jayne moment. Can you clarify how to take a look at all the eps?
