Has any of you been watching this show on the USA network? I am loving it and can't wait for each episode to come out.

Can't get it in Canada (yet), but I just read on tvshowsondvd.com it's tentatively coming to DVD (!) Dec. 21 from Paramount.

Yup. Been watching it. It's great. They have a marathon this weekend for anyone who hasn't seen it yet. Almost makes me want to go and start a fansite for it.

There would certainly be a lot to talk about.

I'm watching it. Enjoying it for the most part. It's got a lot of interesting ideas, but it's also been a little slow in my opinion. There are a couple issues that they seem to be dragging out a little too long.

I really like Joel Gretsch, who plays Tom Baldwin. Does anyone remember him as the uber-evil Col. Crawford in Taken?

For a completely HUMORLESS show, The 4400 is pretty good.

Thankfully it's a short mini-series... the far too serious nature of every single character all the time would bore me in a full season run. This is the very same reason I stopped watching Smallville... all drama no humor.

I find myself imagining how differently Joss would have handled the whole "Close Encounters meets the X-Men" premise and in what ways he would have made it funny.

Joss would have probably put the "heroic" character (who beat up hoodlums in the park) in a superhero costume or something quirky I think. Some kind of pop-culture comic book referencing pathos was definitely needed in that character. The writing as it was didn't make me care about the character. Spoiler invis-o-text:

Select to view spoiler:

His death was predictable and thus did not move me at all. Nor did the writers earn the sappy 'inspired masses' ending. This was one self-contained episode that should have been developed into a humorous character arc across the span of several episodes giving the viewer more time to give a crap about this guy.

I think the young premonition girl would be INFINITELY more interesting and hilarious with Joss writing her lines.

anyway isnt this marathon leading to the finale? how can they possibly wrp up all the questions.

hopefully better than TAKEN did--50 years of lost lives, torture-betrayal etc etc because an alien fell in love ??

Also, I can kill you with my brain.

I wonder how expanded the DVD set will be compared to what aired...

That's cool about JERICHO and all. I have to admit, I never thought of JERICHO as a sci-fi series. I heard it once described as "24 meets LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE" and I think that's actually a good comparison. Yes it deals with the aftermath of a nuclear apocalypse and terrorism and has tons of action and all, but it also depicts what life is like in a small farm town fairly well. I've grown up in a town like that (although Jericho is more like Assiniboia than my actual hometown of Mossbank) and know people like that as well, so there's an extra level of familiarity to it for me.

But I am excited in seeing what they have in store for those seven episodes. Since they know they only have those seven eps to tell the rest of their story, I imagine that those last seven eps are going to be a high quality as FIREFLY in that they pack so much in one ep and get straight to the point instead of meandering around.

Anyways, getting back to THE 4400. I just saw the final ep. I know they kinda meandered a little bit with the 4th season, but they really kicked things into overtime with this ep. And the finale that's set to "Where is My Mind?" by The Pixies was so fucking perfect. Whereas I was a casual fan beforehand of the series, now I can't wait for next summer to see what happens now in Promise City.
