For those of you who haven't heard, J.J. Abrams (Alias) has created a new Scifi show that will begin air this fall. It's called "Lost" and it will star Matthew Fox (Party of Five), Dominic Monaghan (Lord of the Rings), and our very own Gavin from Angel, Daniel Dae Kim.

(I suspect one of the reasons for Alias' lower quality writing this year is because Abrams was off working on this.)

The show is about a bunch of people who crash on an island filled with mysterious bad things. The whole series is devoted to figuring out the mystery of the island. Apparently, the pilot was the most expensive ever made - $10 million.

Everything I've read about this show says it will rock. Since we've all spent so much of our energy pointing out how sucky most scifi is, I encourage everybody to watch it, at least the pilot. Then we'll see how it goes. It comes on ABC at 8 p.m. starting in September.

Hmmmmm - somewhat interesting premise, some actors with talent, a known name at the helm, and most importantly the ABC network, which means NOT FOX NOT FOX NOT FOX and may I say again NOT FOX!!

I think I'll check it out........

JAYNE "Pain is scary..."

Didn't I just read somewhere (possibly in an article with Alan Tudyk?) that the pilot Serenity cost $12 million? I think he was comparing it to the BDM which will cost $50 million, and letting us know how much more cool the BDM will be.

Oh, and Lost looks pretty cool too.

What was it, four episodes?

I've actually seen the pilot (Friend of mine got it off a newsgroup) and it is REALLY good.

Also, Evangeline Lilly is HOT!

Early: You ever been raped, Kaylee?
Kaylee: You know, it's funny you should mention that... ever heard of the Fox network?

It does look good, but I warn everyone that ABC has an absolutely dreadful record in recent years for being able to launch a new one-hour dramatic series and keep it on the air more than a season. Alias has been their only recent success, and it stays on despite lower than usual ratings because of its good demographics and considerable media buzz.

So watch and enjoy Lost while you can, but don't get your hopes up too high.

Heres my review:
I saw it the other day and i thought it was pretty good. It has many flaws though. Domonic Monaghan is crap playing the comic relief character and is never funny, He may be a good actor but he aint in this. The lead male (can't remeber his name) is very typical, it's odd it's like a take back to those early 90's action movies, steven segal and bruce willis. Very bad and uninteresting. The lead lady is much more interesting. Theres another main male lead whos obese who plays an excellent part, i truely think the obese guy should have taken the lead. Its great casting and his character isn't a stereotype. He's the most interesting male. Generally everyone looks too pretty actors included but that tends to happen in most american shows, good that theres an overweight guy. They don't quite capture the horror of a plane crash either, though they suceed in creating the horror of being lost. Its an ambitous series and i will definately watch the next episode mainly because so many questions were raised. If anything creator JJ Abrams needs to remeber to be a little more subtle, in his writing and directing. At times the show looks like a brash tv movie at others it could be spielberg on Jurassic Park. When he accomplishes his subtlety , which he can,he has in Alias and in certain scenes in Lost, the result is amazing. Lost is good but not great.

If anyone knows, could you answer this question for me (if anyone besides me looks into this thread any more): is there a pregnant woman among the survivors on the island, because in the commercials I see for it, i keep thinking i hear someone saying that someone is having contractions. Im looking on sites but I cant find anything. Does anyone know anything that I dont? please help me out! I dont want to have to wait a month if i cant help it!

Cool! Thanks for telling me!

May I ask how you found out? Did you find it on some website or do I just have really bad hearing and it did say so on the commercial?

The commercial shows her walking pregnant on the beach, and then we hear the talk about contractions and the doctor who is the lead kneels beside her. There are a number of different promos out there, so you may not have seen her pregnant in the one you're talking about. I think I also read an article on the show in which the writer joked about how even pregnant women looked good in bathing suits on tv.

I am wondering if she loses the baby. I can't quite see how they would work an infant into a show like this.

O! That makes sense, jeez I can be really stupid sometimes! Thanks!

I agree with you about the losing the baby part. though a baby would be nice to have to maybe lighten the mood, I cant see a baby surviving for very long on a desert Island.

Actually, the more that I think about it, isnt it true that you cant fly in the third trimester (or whatever its called) of your pregnancy? Cuz, if so and that woman goes into labor and gives birth on the island, she should not have been flying on that plane in the first place!

Please correct me if I am wrong. Thanks!
