Not to be confused with the film Forever (IV), both with Ioan Gruffold (pronounced Shawn Griffiths, IIRC).

Really enjoyed Forever Knight, and from what I can see the upcoming Forever seems about the same.

Yes, I understand the irony of reviving this character....

I expect I will need to check this one out.

I have enjoyed his work, mostly since King Arthur.

I've never seen Forever Knight, but I know a lot of people accuse Angel of being a rip-off of that show. However, when I heard about Forever I immediately thought of New Amsterdam.

Me too Brenda I think I was more shocked about the ending of that then Serenity, but it made twisted sense too... I mean, hello! it's Vampires! You knew it wasn't going to end pretty

I'm glad it got made when it did, I can't imagine how sterile and ridiculously improbably perfect the characters would be. I loved the...patina of the show.

I'm not familiar with Forever Night, is it available anywhere online?

I did draw the comparison to New Amsterdam, which was a show I did enjoy, despite it's cliche Immortal until you find true love premise.

Forever Knight was a show from 1992-96, with extensive syndication and reruns. Wonderful characters and storylines. Lead was a Detective or something who had lived some hundreds of years since he was a vampire. It is on IMDB, just spell Knight correctly.

Forever Knight is available on the disc-by-mail service from Netflix, and either by purchasing the DVDs from Amazon, or purchasing episodes or season passes on their Instant Video service (not the Prime service). Hulu doesn't have it.

Last promo I saw said he was only 200 years old in this new Forever.

Heck, that's not even Highlander range.

But it does appear in time to scam off the new Dracula Untold flick.

Sorry, I did not mean to imply that they were using a direct resurrection, just that they were retreading the idea.
Could we hope for a retread of some Firefly action? Or would that be blasphemy?

I just watched the pilot episode on Hulu, and as I suspected, it's much closer to New Amsterdam than it is to Forever Knight. He's immortal, not a vampire. In New Amsterdam, he knew how and why his "curse" started, but in Forever he does not.

No. I've already said it twice. It's most like New Amsterdam.

Forever Knight was about a 700 year old vampire trying to atone for his evil ways.

Highlander was about a man who had to kill others to remain the "Only One."

Both New Amsterdam and Forever are about a man who cannot die. Well, he can, but he always (so far) comes back to life.

I guess if you want to make this a discussion on Forever Knight that is okay, but if it is about the new show Forever then stop talking about vampires. The central character in Forever is not a vampire, and while he's not sure whether his condition is a curse or a blessing, he doesn't have any dark past to atone for.

I don't know, since I've only seen the first episode. He doesn't know but wants to find out. He has an friend/assistant, a man he's known for many years, and they both are trying to discover the answer. His friend ages but he doesn't, no matter how many times he's died. Judd Hirsch plays the friend.

No, they offered the pilot on Hulu a week or so ago, not sure if it is still there. It will air on ABC on Monday, Sept. 22 at 10pm Eastern, then the second episode will be the following night at 10 following SHIELD. The move is to make way for Castle which will return the following week.

Times sure have changed. The general rule used to be that no network would promote or allow promotion of another network's shows. I just saw a commercial for "Forever" on Syfy during their repeat of last week's "Haven." I naturally assumed that meant "Forever" must be produced by Universal, which is the parent company of Syfy and NBC. But "Forever" is an ABC show produced by Warner Brothers.

Saw it last night, and there seemed to be nothing else in the time slot (other than Blacklist, I think). I expected to enjoy it, and I did. Gotta watch 2nd episode tonight.
Expected it to be better than Scorpion, based upon what I heard from others, but I thought Scorpion was far better.
Alas, it did have Judd Hirsch in it.

3 Pilots of Gotham, Scorpion, Forever, and all on different channels.

Our opinions seem to be nearly the exact opposite. I thought Forever was superior to Scorpions.

The only question I have about Forever is...what happens to his body from the time he dies until he is "reborn" in the water? Did it disappear from the train, teleport itself out of there, or what?

Based on what happened tonight, it seems his body just magically disappears and reappears in the water. He told Abe that the mystery man obviously followed him and saw him disappear when he died.

Also noticed Lucas just tranferred from Bones, typecast with different character name and network.

Second ep seemed to maintain steam, not much drop-off from the pilot. Getting a similar vibe to Elementary's first couple episodes.

I didn't notice how tricky they were - slotting in behind SHIELD after moving SHIELD back an hour. This put Forever against Person of Interest, which seemed to have ads indicating it would have new episodes the same time as Elementary. Now that I've missed PoI episodes, I'm going to try to catch up on PoI (Jonathon Nolan) until reruns.

Are you saying Adam is someone other than the person they introduced in last night's episode? I had read on the not so reliable IMDb a few weeks ago that he would be played by a different actor, someone who has had a recurring role on another current ABC series.

Oh, did they "out" him already?? I'm a couple episodes behind.

Is it Adrian Pasdar? He plays the Lt. Col. on SHIELD. I recognized his voice weeks ago and that they had added the entry of "Forever" voice on his IMDB page, but I didn't think about posting it, 'cuz who really cares, and also, I thought there could be a slight chance they were doing a bait and switch with the voice to throw people off... I'll have to catch up and see if it's him.

Pasdar is the one I was referring to, as I also saw that on IMDb. But he was not in last night's episode, but another actor I'm familiar with (but you may not be) was. Either he is Adam or else he might be a protege of Adam, and we'll see Pasdar later.

The trouble with IMDb is that registered members can submit information, which is not always confirmed before it is posted on the site. I remember years ago when for a brief time Nathan Fillion was on the cast list for the Sci-Fi Channel's mini-series "The Lost Room." Someone just thought it was him in a preview, but it was someone who slightly resembles him, Tim Guinee.

Is Revenge ABC? That would have been last year. And Game of Thrones is some non-broadcast network, I think. Don't know about TURN.
Adam was fairly clearly revealed, while talking on the phone - are you all saying this was subterfuge?

And the actor was not credited for his pseudonym in the episode, that I could find.

Apparently you misread the comments Wishy and I made about this. IMDb had originally credited Adrian Pasdar in the role, and as she mentioned, and I implied, he also has had a recurring role on Agents of SHIELD this year.

You are correct about three other shows that Burn Gorman has appeared in, and he is the one who was featured in last night's episode. But she hasn't seen that episode yet. What I meant by my last statement is since he did not identify himself as Adam maybe he isn't actually Adam but some other immortal who knows about Adam and his obsession with Henry. Adam might show up later, and if so may be played by Pasdar. Or else, it was all misdirection, and Gorman is Adam. We'll have to wait and see.

Another example of how IMDb isn't reliable either before or immediately after a show's broadcast; Gorman is currently credited as "Anonymous Caller" even though he was clearly identified as Dr. Lewis Farber in the episode.

I liked him in Heroes, but didn't know he was with Dixie Twit. Now that can explain why he is so unlikeable in SHIELD, and is better cast there than as a Hero.

"Forever" is nothing like "Forever Knight". For one thing the title character is not a vampire, does not need to feed on blood to survive. I loved that series to pieces and while "Forever" shows some promise it is not the same must see type of show.

Okay, then change it to "New Amsterdam revived as Forever?" since that show's immortal was a cop, and neither he or Henry Morgan are vampires, so it has next to nothing in common with Forever Knight. Which is probably the fourth or fifth time I've said that on this thread.
