As Wonderfall is here I thought that it would be appropriate to have Dead Like Me here too.

For those who haven't seen it, it's about a surly dispondant 18 year old called George Lass who is killed by the MIR space station toilet seat and the life that she leads after as a grim reaper.

This is one of the funniest shows about, second season will be due to start soon in the states.

With cast like Mandy Pantikin as Rube, Laura Harris as Daisy Adair, Jasmine Guy as Roxie and Callum Blue as the enigmatic Mason.

The creator of the show is the Bryan Fuller and in the very last episode there is Jewel Staite playing a goth girl.

its not one of the best reviews but at least you get the basic gist

I downloaded the first season of "Dead Like Me" (that someone had taped from the broadcasts) and enjoyed the episodes very much. I just wish Jewel would have been on screen longer in the season finale.
Personally I still liked Wonderfalls a tad better, but if you liked the one, I'm sure you'll like the other. I may even sign up for Showtime to catch the new season....

Showtime. Gotta have cable/sat service. only downside. My friend had showtime for sg-1 and he kept it on and off for Jeremiah and dead like me.

I just got hooked on this!! I LOVE my Comcast On Demand!!! I'm watching eps 2 and probably 3 (and 4 if we have time) tonight!

While I watched the premier, I just kept thinking 'this reminds me of Wonderfalls... ' It's certainly not quite the same, but it has that sort of same sarcastic voiceover from the chick, and it's very surreal in that 'I can't believe that just happened... wierd..' kinda way.

I've always wanted to see the show, but I don't have showtime. If it's good as you guys say, I might have to download an episode or two.

There may be stylistic similarlities, but I don't really see that the two shows have any
storyline content in common.

Anyhow, Dead Like Me is fabulous. Unfortunately,I can't afford cable anymore, so I'm going to miss the new season, dammit.

that's not a good thing at all. I guess you will have to get another way of getting them then. So you think Showtime will sell it to the terrestrial TV?

seriously you should. I suggest A cook (ep.8) or Dead Girl Walking(ep.2)only if you can't get the pilot - I have been trying for ages

Did Bryan Fuller leave the show (because of creative disagreements with showtime) or am I mistaken. I don't have showtime anymore, (had to choose HBO) so I have not seen any of the eps.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

I dont know what happened, all I know is that wonderfalls got cancelled and dead like me is carrying on. I'm assuming that it was the networks decision to do the deed - as they were still fans of it

I love love love this show! I downloaded the whole season on bt a little while a go...loooove it. the pilot blew me away, and i was like need more, and i wasn't gonna hold my breath for the australian networks to get. i can't even think of what my favourite episodes were...probably the finale, but really, i loved them all. the best aspect of the show was how they mixed in all the humour, but still held on to the serious underlying message. really quite profound at times.

we love this show!! just recently rewatched the whole first season on showtime on demand. missed a few the first time around. usually cry a least once through every ep.
we also watched deadwood which just finished it's first season. it took awhile to get into but was great in the end.
and have started watching dead zone. watched a few last season and kept missing them. but now with the dvr, we are going to try it again. seen 2 shows and not sure yet.
what's with all the 'dead' shows?

I'm hoping that they are going to be reshowing season 1 on Sky One otherwise I don't know what I'm going to do if I can't afford the DVD I know what you mean with that sort of sadness - the episodes are written so well you feel like you are there

Deadwood as far as I know isn't been shown here in the UK and I keep missing The Dead Zone :(

I don't know what it is about 'dead' shows but I think it is just a trend that hasn't really been touched on within TV - so they are just capitalising on it - I mean I could be really cynical and say that Buffy started all that off

It helps that Dead Like Me is on a pay channel. They don't have to worry about advertisers and the money generated from ad sales.

Couldnt agree more Moonfire, this show is hilarious ! Looking for something to cure my Buffy/Angel/Firefly withdrawal symptons I risked buying the DVD set on Amazon after reading the good reviews. I'm glad I did !!!!
Seen the first 3 episodes so far, watching the rest an episode every few days. Heard they might bring out Wonderfalls on DVD soon, havent seen that either but I'll get the set when it comes.
Shows like these are a stark contrast to the drivel we get on tv nowadays, especially here in Australia where some of the highest rating shows are Big Brother and embarrassing local pathetic police soapies that include terrorist plots just to get ratings.

I'm posting this here a) because the lovely Jewel Staite was in Dead like me and b) because you can share my pain and rally when you here that a favourite show of yours had been cancelled, I know I went and bought the DVD and put my name to eveything that as going, when I heard about Firefly. I know I have only posted here very sporadically here, but I need the lovely people of this forum to sign a petition to make sure see that Dead like me will be renewed for a third season. I am really passionate about this show just as I am for Firefly and I would really appreciate your help

I hope this gets alot of coverage so if you post at other place feel free to use this link to let everyone know. Thank you ever so much, I'm indebted to you all :)

Thank you for this. Are they really planning on canceling it or is this a safty petition in case they might cancel it? They better not cancel it. It's the only show they HAVEN'T canceled of mine. Seriously. I only watch TV a little. Just when Dead Like Me is on and the re-runs of Two Guys and a Girl. Otherwise, I'm stuck to DVDs. I LOVE Dead Like Me. The writing is so good. I guess you can kind of blame me if this show gets canceled. I have a curse. If I like a show, it gets canceled. Just look at Firefly. This would be like the 20th show of mine they cancel. *whimper*

Sky are broadcasting it in the UK. Broadband and Usenet are your friends if you're domiciled in the UK; less than 1 UKP per day, available in most locations. Without a TV, that's how I get the BBC too

One of the things I like about FFF.net is the way no-one is so stupid that they think it's cool to put banners in posts. Oh well, that used to true.

Ok, well as far as I am concerned "dead like me" is more than "I like that show", it's more like I am passionatly in love with this show. It rivals Firefly. That's my story and Im sticking to it. So please, even if you haven't watched the show before, or even heard of it, don't let it turn into another Firefly and sign the petition for the good of all. And unless I'm crazy I heard Six Feet Under would be cancelled after this last season.

As long as creative people can still create shows, I'm not hung up on any particular show's survival. I'd rather have one less season of Dead Like Me if it means I can have a show like Wonderfalls - even on DVD, eventually . That we can have people not occupied with Angel writing on 24 and Lost is a benefit to both those shows and us. The sad thing about Firefly was that it was never allowed to establish even a short narrative arc - we have no series at all.

You'll be happy to know I won't be contributing to this thread again - the formatting issue is making me dizzy.
