Just watched it last night....I had a blast. So, okay, Tom Cruise clearly has near-Spiderman-like strength in it to survive what he does, but hey, you gonna take a movie like this THAT seriously? It's comic book time, my friend. Nicely told thin story, great pace, cool comical Tom double-takes(c)... Simon Pegg- what's not to like?

Best one was still MI2 though.

LWAVES

I saw this about two weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it. It was a good, fun, action movie. MI 1+2 were fine and I've never watched 3 (I'll be watching it soon) but I'm glad I gave this one a go. If I'm honest I only watched it because Simon Pegg was in it. He automatically makes any film 50% better.

I had a long-winded discussion about 'realism' in TV and movies on another forum awhile back. The film has to be realistic to the rules of the universe that it sets up. That doesn't mean that it needs to be realistic to our real life, just to itself.
Mission Impossible falls into the same area as the Bond movies in that they use a heightened reality where characters can get run over, blown aside, shot several times etc and still get up and carry on running and fighting. It fits well with this type of movie. It's why Hunt can climb up the glass windows and hold himself in place on the tiniest edge. The fact that you know it's actually Cruise doing that stunt adds to the scene as well. The scene I thought was little off was the chase through the storm. I thought it went a bit too far. Not so much for Hunt as we know how he was following but for the lead car to get that far, that fast, in that visibility without a major crash was a tad too much.

Overall it was a good film and Tom Cruise is always watchable in whatever he does. Then of course there is the obligatory 'hint' at a sequel. M:I-GP2??

Heh, that's what SHE said...

Okay, truthfully I'd say III was the best- II was just my personal fave.

Hey guys, remember the part in Die Hard where McClane TIED the hose around him before leaping off the roof to avoid the explosion (nowadays you'd just HOLD ONTO with ONE HAND)? I miss that kind of absolute realism in movies.

Bwahahahahah
