Ok, so maybe I've been watching too much BSG lately and I know the spelling isn't the same, but this headline just had me in stitches...

"Fracking 'likely cause' of quakes" http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-lancashire-15550458

Of course, I had to share the fun.

STORYMARK

Fracking has been a big topic of discussion in the states for the last several years.

But yeah, I admit I chuckle every time I hear it.

"Goram it kid, let's frak this thing and go home! Engage!"

Oh, gods.

there should be no more fracking in Britain until the health and environmental impacts are fully understood. [...] He said fracking was a "distraction from the real challenges"

And this gem: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/10/22/science/earth/22fracking.html

In fracking, water, sand and chemicals are injected into a well at high pressure

I'm now picturing a squad of Galactica's pilots in the briefing room giggling like 12-year-olds.

When DT first mentioned "fracking" I was really confused because the only place I'd heard the word was on BSG and so contextually I was ... really confused. It took me a while to figure out what was going on. :)

Me too! So glad to know I'm not the only one. Being a sci-fi fan can really mess with the real world sometimes.
