Not really a Sci-Fi show, but it does have Summer teaming with another recent Sci-Fi star, Tricia Helfer. The show is a police procedural focusing on officers who use dogs to find missing bodies, with the somewhat unfortunate title: Scent of the Missing.

No more running. I aim to misbehave.

Best of luck to both of them. Someone change the name of the show: PLEASE!

Clearly hired Summer just so they can blame her curse for the inevitable cancellation. I can't imagine this being any good.

Soo... more of Summer ( And Tricia ) is a bad thing?

Firefly was , as we all know, awesome.

SCC was a bit better received, longer lived, at least.

We'll try to forget the Mammoth fiasco.

So, OK, the title is wretched.... but it's Summer ! On T.V. ! That's good, right ?

Maybe?

Alot of hour long dramas have had alot of luck on cable, Burn Notice, White Collar, Royal Pains etc. This may be her lucky break, most of these shows wouldn't have made it on the broadcast networks.

Actually I'd say she had the least impact on Firefly's greatness. She only really came into her own in Objects in Space. The rest of the time her character seemed to be there just as an excuse for the crew to do something.

TSCC was awful. The Cape was worse. She was good in Dollhouse. Can't think of anything else I've seen her in.

I do like her as an actress but I'd also say she's the most overrate of the Firefly cast. That being said I'm not basing the crummy outlook of this show on her presence.

Oh yeah... The Cape. How soon we forget.

Well, how soon *I* forgot.

And wasn't she also in an episode of The Big Bang Theory ?

But I'll have to differ w/ you on her significance in Firefly. Appearing nekkid in a box, on the series pilot... pretty big deal in my book.

Not being her biggest fan isn't trolling.

Not everyone adores everything one of the FF cast is in, JUST because they're in it.

Though I think the show has a better chance than Zeek gives it credit for. Offbeat (usually female-led) crime procedurals are TNTs cash cow. They do very well with them.

I see a pattern! TNT is basing Scent of the Missing, with two women in the lead roles, on a non-fiction book: www.amazon.com/Scent-Missing-Partnership-Search---Rescue/dp/B004X8W5P8/ Besides Scent of the Missing, should it become a series, TNT already has another with two women in the lead roles, also based on books: Rizzoli & Isles.

Wasn't aware of the book, but that makes sense. Tap into multiple pre-existing fanbases (fans of the book, as well as the actresses).

TNT also has The Closer, and recently had Saving Grace. Its a formula that works for them.

If anything I'd say that's a trolling comment. I clearly said I like her but think she's the most overrated. How is that trolling? Seems like your comment is more designed to incite emotions.

BTW does anybody here remember the joke show during the credits of Forgetting Sarah Marshal? I think they called it "Animal Instinct" or something. The premise was that she could read the mind of animals and used it in her crime fighting. That's all I can picture when thinking about this show.

Kristen Bell's character was a real investigator in the show as well. When it comes to works of fiction what is real anyway?

The show is named after the non-fiction book -- Scent of the Missing: Love and Partnership with a Search-and-Rescue Dog by Susannah Charleson. I got a Hollywood brainstorm! Change the focus of the show -- call it Search-and-Rescue Dog.

Uh.... WHAT??

Are you being purposefully obtuse... or have you stepped into la-la land??

Bell was playing a fictional character.... with supernatural powers.

Summer is playing a K9 cop.... a fairly common REAL job. Fictionalized perhaps, but I kinda assumed you were smart enough to recognize the difference.

When it's a woman with glowing eyes who speaks to animals.... if you don't know where that falls on the scale, you might want to see psychological help.

She was a police detective. That's just as real as a K9 cop. I don't think her eyes were actually glowing to anyone else. It was just a cue to the viewer that she was communicating with the animal. Kinda like Chuck flashing. There isn't actually a bunch of little images shooting out of his eyes.

That one was a joke. But with all good jokes there's some truth to it.

Summer Glau is a German Shepherd person, first on Terminator, now on Scent. Isn't Glau german for glow, I believe?
Quote:

Rounding out the canine cast is Sam, a German Shepherd, who plays Chaos, the newest member of the search and rescue team. Chaos may not be the most experienced, but his fierce drive and heroism make him an invaluable asset to the team. A Hollywood veteran, Sam appeared in Disney’s Beverly Hills Chihuahua 1&2 as Delgado. A huge sci-fi fan, he can’t believe his luck in being partnered with Summer Glau, who plays Sedona, and is especially grateful that his love of salmon jerky was written into the script. - www.deadline.com/2011/11/tnt-drama-pilot-scent-of-the-missing-casts-it
