Ditto what Som said....with a cherry on top.

You must feel kinda like someone getting an article published in a magazine or whatever. It verifies the work you've put in and the final results you've achieved.
Did you submit the pics or did they spot you on here and contact you?

Well, it's one of the two model sites I view most frequently, so I figgered I'd submit a few pix of Galactica hoping they might use one.
Boy was I surprised to see they used MOST of them!

Now I have to top myself...

That would be telling.

Bigger & better. A Firefox or something. But BIG. That Galactica was too small. I saw a guy on that site that worked on a Revell model like I did, but he's a pro, and spent three times longer on it than I did (yeah, it's way better than mine), and I just can't work micro like that for that long. That's why I purposely suggested detail in many areas rather than go for precision.
So...
Precision is my next project.

I apologize. That may have been a trifle bitchy. Surely sonisall is the only one who's qualified to comment.
The model-builders in my family tended to get lost in their projects and had to have messages sent in attached to cats, dogs, hamsters...we drew the line at sending food. They had to come to the table.
One of the cats was a glue-head, we suspect. He could hardly wait until our dinnertime, when he could jump up on a bench and attack a wing structure or the wall of a train station laid out, pinned into place on waxed paper, glued and left to dry. Pounce! Aha! Crunch! Nom-nom-nom!

That's awesome Chris!! I had the same feeling when I got my first article published.

I really have to get one of the Titanium Galacticas or the Konami. I like the small scale for lack of displayable space. Can't imagine working in such a small scale though...

Personally, I don't much like the Titanium one- way overpriced for too little accuracy. IMO the Konami one is pretty good, if slightly (also) overpriced.
Lords of Kobol- I know too much about this ship now...

For me it's all about scale. If I want to have a Galactica along side the Enterprise or Saratoga etc, they have to be smallish.

It's impossible to find either the Konami or the Titanium at a reasonable price. Canada never got the org. BSG ships.

I'll probably have to get a Revell model.

Did you see the Prototype Galactica they built back in the 70's geared to come out with the BSG toys? I think it went for over $5000.00 on E-bay.

Congrats, Chris!

I remember those heady days of my youth, learning new modeling techniques with each new project:
• From trying to paint a hull with a brush to using a spray can, and then an airbrush.
• From trying to paint fine details freehand to masking them off with Scotch® Magic tape.
• Learning to trim decals right to the edge of the design (w/ teeny surgical scissors), then spraying clear flat over the whole model when I was done.

I was also addicted to publications like...
• FineScale Modeler http://www.finescale.com/
• Everything written by Francois Verlinden http://www.verlindenonline.com/
• This book was my bible! http://www.scribd.com/doc/17243902/HINTS-AND-TIPS-FOR-PLASTIC-MODELING

Thanks CL!
My Viper is the next thing to be featured (any day now). It's my pride & joy. Best work I've ever done.
Next Viper I make will be part of a diorama with landing gear & such. But next up is a rather big project; if it seems to be working out, I'll let you know.

http://www.modelermagic.com/?p=26530 yeah, I saw that early on- absolutely fantastic precision work. No way I could spend six months on one model that small like he did.
BTW, he missed a detail on the engine section, but whatever.
