So bad it made my soul hurt.

After the disaster that was season two they are going to have to work twice as hard to keep my interest. I will give them a few weeks this season since they have a new showrunner but that is IT.

The only reason i finished out the season was IP (Tyr's son) and TKDATD (Renagade AI ships).

As a semi-interesting digress I'd like to comment that if you liked *early* Andromeda than you might want to check out the new Twilight Zone series on UPN since imdb lists Robert Hewitt Wolfe (the original executive producer for that show before Kevin "moron" Sorbo had him fired) as a writer for the series.

I was disappointed with how the second half of s2 started going.

The whole season 2 was getting so bad , that I decided to stop watching DROM. I'll pick close to the opening of s3 and watch a few weeks - if the new head honcho helps them put some nice stories, then I'll continue. Otherwise, I'm history .

Yeah..........Sorbo did manage to screw up the series. A lot of writers are no longer with the show anymore but hopefully things will get better. If not then I'll hang up my ranks and move on to Firefly and Tracker.

Ooo! response from a die-hard Drom fan. Firefly has become my new obsession in the wake of what has happened to Andromeda. First season, i could think of nothing else (like i am with firefly now). I memorized everything. I understood it, related to the stories, love the connections, and the dialogue... I knew far too much about it. Robert Hewitt Wolfe did amazing work. There's depth and morality shown in episodes like Angel Dark, Demon Bright. Humor in episodes like Fear and Loathing in the Milky WAy, and ability to deal with unusual and difficult subjects in It Makes a Lovely light. But.. I'm so disappointed. It doesn't thrill me anymore. I watch out of devotion and hope, but after about homefires/orouborus, I got skeptical. The plots got bad, there was too much action, not enough of the interaction that had made it so much fun. Kevin sorbo was stupid, and i don't like what they did with Trance. And now Tyr's bonespurs!? Grr... I don't know what to think. Drom used to be the highpoint of my television viewing,b ut If the Wheel is Fixed did nothing for me. I'll keeping watching *sigh*

*pats Saint of Cheese (the one who addicted her to Andromeda) in comfort* Yes...

*sigh* I miss season 1... it was so GOOD then! It was original, it was funny, and it wasn't afraid to deal with sensitive subjects (It Makes a Lovely Light has to be pretty much my favorite episode ever). But in season 2 it started to go gradually downhill... as Saint of Cheese said, more action, less involved character development, and Beka's Flash addiction, which should have been at least a small issue, has barely been mentioned. The season 3 premier didn't thrill me either... so we'll wait and see.

As of the season 3 opener I've officially given up Andromeda. The episode left me scratching my head and wondering what the hell THAT was about.

It's too bad, too, because Robert Hewitt Wolfe created an amazing universe.

Me, too. Not only do we have the disappointment of DROM mutating into...something else, but we can't even grieve/vent/discuss it without being jumped on or snarked at. ARGGHH. Heaven forbid we should have complaints; that must mean we're eeeeeeeeeevil.

(I like MikeJoe, generally, but there are plenty of moments when I'd just like to smack him upside the head. And then there are a couple others I could smack most of the time... )

Now, with everything else being uprooted -- Farscape and Witchblade being just the most recent casualties -- it's so hard not to feel bittersweet everytime I watch or think of Firefly. I love the show so much already, and each episode is better and better, and yet I'm constantly wondering if this one will be the last episode we ever get to see.

Believe me, I'm taping them all. (I was so bummed when I couldn't get the beginning of "Bushwhacked" due to a VCR programming glitch. Hope they re-air it so I can tape the whole thing again.) And believe me, if we're so very lucky as to ever get these on DVD -- I'll be buying a DVD player, finally...

I agree, but I don't plan on giving up on Andromeda just yet. Besides, it is hard to give up on Andromeda, especially when you've been watching it and building a site on it almost weeks before it's release. I heard about Andromeda in April from Lady Maigrey's site. Then I heard about it on some other site, which I have forgotten the name and address to. I will admit that Andromeda's opener wasn't that lively or interesting, but it wasn't INCREDIBLY BAD either. The next ep, 302, is supposed to be very good and has some good reviews from viewers who've seen it in Canada. So, I'm sticking to it for the long run.

I'm another of those who gave up on Andromeda, embarassed to have once told so many people how amazingly awesome it was and now having to go back and apologize and retract... and can't be as excited about this show as it deserves because of that betrayal.

Maybe it'll be better with Firefly, given that it's on a network. Shows on networks don't seem to get meddled with as much as the ones in syndication, so they only die if their creators kill them, like with X-Files.

Minor corrections, though: Sorbo didn't do it singlehandedly, and only 2 writers are gone. The remaining writers, however, show signs of being distinctly unhappy and stressed whereas they used to be enthusiastic.

I thought Andromeda was extremely promising when it was brand new. I loved the Nietzscheans and the stories that involved them. I was thrilled with the history of the Commonwealth where it existed long before humans began exploring space.

I was really happy with the first season. The second season had a few episodes I couldn't stand, but there were enough high points to keep me interested -- James Marsters made one hell of a Nietzschean.

This season, now that the Commonwealth has been established again, I was looking forward to the Nietzschean rebellion possibly rising again. I wanted to see episodes that told more stories of tyranny and the struggle for freedom. Those were the stories Roddenberry wanted to tell, and those were what Andromeda's first season was all about. The first two episodes of the third season have just plain been awful, and they are not even remotely following Roddenberry's vision. The show is becoming Hercules in Space, literally!!!

Anyone have a season 2 fav episode? Personally, I'll stray from the crowd and admit that i liked Home fires (not much violence.. quite a bit of plot that require backstory).

I love Andromeda, that's why it was so hard to watch episodes like If the Wheel is Fixed. Personally I think Kevin has ruined the show. I started watching because of the supporting cast and now their only role seems to be to say "Yes Captain, we're behind you."

The new season is alright. I just saw Shards of Rimni, and I have to say it was good even though Kevin had such a large role it in. I about threw something at my TV when I heard the new voice over though.

The recent outspokenness from KHC is further proof of the problems - he came right out and spoke against TPTB, and once again called on his fans to write letters...I am just so apathetic that I can't muster the energy - it seems very apparent that the show has not only tanked - it did so at 200 mph...it is actually painful to watch - like watching reality tv in which you stare in horror waiting for something terrible to happen...

I have been thinking of running campaigns on my site to restore the Andromeda that once was the greatest show in the SciFi empire. One of the campaigns is to bring RHW back. He developed the show, so he should still be with it today. One thing that did attract me to the coming of Season 3 was the change in costumes and the changes to Trance and Rommie, plus the suspense of what happened to Beka and Tyr, but I was very disappointed with how "If the Wheel is Fixed" was so confusing and didn't make any sense. "The Shards of Rimni" was a good episode, maybe a little bit on the 'Hercules in Space' side, but it was still a good episode. "Mad to be Saved" was just plain strange, but it's comedy parts made up for it. I don't know about "Cui Bono?" yet. Hmmmm. We will see.

The demise of Andromeda strikes once again even outside of its own show, by worrying me about Firefly. "Out of Gas" was just so stunningly awesome that I'm reminded of how I felt after certain Season 1 and a few (mostly early) Season 2 episodes of Andromeda. And yet, after the last show to reach such lofty heights has plunged into the deepest valley and started drilling a hole, now there's this little voice in the back of my mind saying "Just wait a year and a half, and compare the Firefly episodes you'll be getting then with this one..."

It takes quite a disastrous downfall for any one show to have such far-reaching consequences to fans of a completely unrelated show!

I really like Space: Above and Beyond. It was canceled.

I kind of liked Alien Nation. Ditto.

Farscape. Ditto. Earth2 ditto.

Buffy and Angel have been the only shows I've liked that have lasted a season.

Not trying to sound like a depressed person or anything.

I really liked Andromedia. But my God did it start to suck as nothing has ever sucked before.

I'm hoping Firefly sticks around. That was why I hit all of the save firefly ads. :)

If Firefly lasts, I don't think we'll have that problem. Unlike Andromeda, Firefly isn't helmed by a committee of boobs who don't know scifi from a hole in the ground (or their asses from scifi or a hole in the ground).

I have only watched the first three episodes of Andromeda's third season. After that I quit watching. There was nothing about them that appealed to me at all. Now, I have to ask, have the episodes gotten any better? Has Kevin Sorbo and whoever else is there comprehended their stupidity? They turned a very promising show into a disgraceful show that shouldn't exist anymore. If Firefly and Odyssey 5 don't get a chance to develop, why should Andromeda? I'd like to know if I'm wrong for saying this.

I watch AnDUMeDUH when I have nothing better to do, including sleep or sit on the toilet. I found the first season to be inconsistent, with no memorable episodes. The second season had only one ep that was marginally entertaining in my book; "Una Salus Victus", and the third season ep; "The Lone and Level Sands". Thats it-And they werent even THAT good.

Writing by "committee", lousy acting and terrible special effects just dont add up to anything approaching good. What you have is a corporate entitiy throwing money and ideas at a wall, and like the load one dumps after too much beer and Taco Bell, it just just slides down to the floor and leaves a bad stench.

I am interested in season 4 only because I want to see how much worse it can get. I saw what they did with EFC and between the both of them all I can think is: Maybe there was a reason they sat gathering dust for so many years in Roddeberry's files.
