America loves a winner!

Got zero interest in this flick. It's been done before, so why even bother ?

saw this the other day.
Good. Interesting. Liked the cast.
Ultimately, not particularly memorable, not a perfect film, but I enjoyed it while I was there, and I'll likely watch it again on DVD.

I should have qualified, that I'd not go see it in the theater. I might see it, eventually. On DVD, or on Demand.

I couldn't even sit through AVP: Requiem. It was a slasher movie dressed up as a sci-fi movie. Bunch of teens wandering around, getting impaled and ripped apart... only thing missing was a hockey mask and a machete.

I hate those movies.

It was WAAAAY better than the previous AVP though. Not bad for NO budget IMO.

Good. Interesting.

Can you compare it to Predator 2?
Favourably, I mean?

SINGATE

In my opinion this is the movie that should have been the sequel to the original. I'm not saying #2 was bad, in fact it had a strong cast and was interesting because it was set in a concrete jungle.

The newest installment has a stellar cast. I'm sure there will be many people asking why Brody and Fishburne would take roles in this sort of project. The latter is an even more valid question because his character is somewhat odd and seems to be beneath Fishburne. What I mean is that a lot of other, lesser talents could and have done roles like this before. It just strikes me as an unusual choice for him unless he was already a huge fan of the franchise. That being said he does a good job as did the rest of the cast.

Walton Goggins provides most of the humor albeit somewhat twisted. Topher Grace is trying his best to distance himself further and further from the squeaky clean Eric Forman character that made him famous. His character seems to be the odd man out amongst his criminal and military counterparts but he was abducted for a very good reason. For me Brody is the absolute standout in the cast. To see a guy mostly known for dramatic roles portray a cold, methodical killer is truly impressive.

Something that did surprise me about the film is that it was not awash with over the top blood and guts violence. Sure there was a spine rip and some beheadings but nothing close to some of the other projects Robert Rodriquez has been associated with. Along that line this is also the most character driven film in the series since the original. To be honest I was expecting nearly 2 hours of action, effects, and violence. Surprising but in no way disappointing.

yeah, CiA, honestly I didn't mind Predators 2 so much, since I found it fairly interesting, thanks to the setting and the cast.

Predators though is probably better.
I really enjoyed that it moved a bit slower, and yeah, that there wasn't as much blood and guts everywhere. They kept the quiet, unpredictable Predators, at least for the most part, which made the film much more suspenseful, rather than full blown action the whole way through.
