OPTIMUS1998

So i'm watching the Bones Episode "The Girl in the Mask", (Season 4, episode 23 - Japanese girl beheaded in a anime style mask)

so when they go to the photog's studio, I'm instantly like, THAT'S THE FRIGGIN DOLLHOUSE!!!

Which makes sense, as this was the season running congruent with dollhouse season 2, and they are both Fox Shows.why should the studio pay to build a 1 time use set when you can just redress an existing one.

others i have noticed are a certain bridge over a neighborhood in LA that I've seen in at least Angel, Heroes, and Chuck.

then there was the first of the doctor who 2009 specials(the 2008 Christmas special, "the next Doctor")

one look at the big factory like area where the cybermen had the kids working, and i knew, KNEW, it was the Torchwood Hub Set re-dressed (later confirmed in the Confidential for that episode)

anyone else notice these types of things?? got any good examples?

LWAVES

Wayne Manor from the 60's Batman TV show was also used (briefly) in the first X-Files movie as the English home of the Well-Manicured Man. I think it was also used as the home of The Writer (Richard Dreyfuss) in Stand By Me.

There is a power station or dam with a connecting bridge that was used in Dark Angel and Smallville.

Lex Luthor's exterior mansion in Smallville is also the home to Xavier's school in the X-Men movies.

The Universal backlot is always a good one to spot and generally quite easy. Back To The Future, V (the original TV series), The Sting, Brisco County Jr and Star Trek were all users of the site, plus many many more.

In fairness to L.A., though, those bridges are all over the L.A. River...

They generally share a similar style, most having been built before the Great Depression.

Here's the Buena Vista Bridge...

Here's another - not sure which one, but shares a similar style...

And yeah, I notice them turn up everywhere. The Shield, Chuck, Angel, Southland, etc. I love 'em.

IMNOTHERE

Here in the UK there is the phenomenon of the famous Gravel Pit...

In the US all alien planets look like the California desert (or, the woods near Vancouver) - in the UK they all look like a gravel pit in Surrey.

Reputedly, they were filming Blake's 7 in one such pit and were disturbed by some noise - they walked over a rise and met the Doctor Who film crew...

(The new 'Who series mainly looks like a factory somwhere near Cardiff, instead).

CYBERSNARK

Stars Hollow from Gilmore Girls turned up once in Supernatural (explicitly identified as the filming set from GG), and, more subtly (and hilariously) on TSCC, when Sarah and Cameron dropped off a target after rescuing him from a Terminator (they were in Luke's Diner).

And of course, Zordon's fortress has turned up in Chuck.

Oh, and Jeremiah brought us inside Thunder Mountain, which was clearly the SGC from Stargate.

Star Trek did this a lot. Both bridges in Trek 2 (Enterprise and Reliant) were the same set, and the Voyager sets were redressed as the Enterprise E for First Contact through Nemesis.

There's a foot bridge in Central Park which was featured prominently in Highlander and Spider-Man 3.

WHOZIT

The house from the "Partridge Family" and "Life Goes On" is the same house, if you've noticed it's just down the street from the "Bewitched" house. The street you often see on "How I Met Your Mother" is the famous "New York Street" on the 20th Century Fox lot, it's been used in a gazillion films and TV shows.

I believe it was also Eastwick in the short-lived ABC series "Eastwick", too, if I remember correctly.

And yes, that Supernatural episode was hilarious, especially with Sammy saying, "Oh yeah - that's a good show!" in response to hearing the Stars Hollow spiel. :)

TRAVELER

In the eighth season episode 18 of "Stargate SG1" Daniel finds himself ascended to a coffee house that is the set used by "Dead Like Me" as The Waffle House where Rube handed out reaper assignments and likes his bacon crispy.

And one place that seems to show up ever couple of years is the Bradbury Building located at 304 S. Broadway, Los Angeles, Cal. You May remember seeing it in "Blade Runner", "Double Indemnity", and several other films and TV shows. The old iron elevator and railings stand out in this building.

And isn't the canyon where Mal met Patience, the same canyon where the 4077th MASH unit set up shop?
I know it dates me but I saw that canyon every week as long as MASH aired.

Of course, there are the famous Vasquez rocks, where Kirk fought the Gorn in the original Trek series, and has been used many times since, in a whole crapload of movies (including Star Trek 4, 7 and 10).

It also appeared once in NCIS (of all things).

Ironically, it apparently did not appear in DS9, which used. . . the canyon mentioned in the previous post.

That locale was also used in Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey, juxtaposed with the duo watching that Trek episode on TV.

Like I said... a crapload. I found a list of at least 30 films that have shot there.

Also used in Trek XI, but with a little CGI enhancement.

I'm sure I saw it in Bonansa episode and probably in other westerns. It can be made to look diffferent by changing the camera angle, but it stands out.
