So, those watchin LE, how ya likin it ?

Also, I did get my hands on Sword of the Stars - and it's everything, EVERYTHING, Masters of Orion 3 *should* have been.

It's a nice 4x game with a few new tricks, simple, intuitive interface (although with the typical high learning curve) and just on those merits, well worth a peek...

But where it shines, where it really, REALLY shines, is the combat, borrowing a page from the MASSIVE engine here.

(Watch in fullscreen for the full effect)

EVERY fight is that epic, even your colony ship and escorts running smack dab into someone elses light intercept squad, it's like crack-addictive, seriously!

Hey Frem,

I'm about 6 or 7 episodes in on LE, so far Im really liking it. I'm a big sucker for these types of shows, female lead character who could kill with her pinky or fly a plane-looking like object. Magic, sorcery and telekenetic powers - I'm there!

I will give SOTS a look-see when I finish with Last Exile.

Thanks again. You're shiny!

Even shiny-er, I *just* got Planetes, the full series, as a back to back with my Hell Girl second season - there was some "unhappiness" about the fact that the original pre-orders got changed due to some problems with the translation slowing down the release, and so folk were getting charged the full series price for only the first half.

Sorry, but you don't give me a full-series price quote and then try to foist off HALF the series for the same price, nuh-uh... and so when I pressed em, they did cut the price, but offered store credit instead of money back, and just as I was gettin ready to really rip his head off, what do I see over his shoulder but a copy of the full series of Planetes for almost exactly what that store credit was gonna be...

Cue disarming (ok, creepy, shaddap) smile and my counter offer to keep the damn money, just hand me that box, right there....

And so I have Planetes, yay.

I also did some checking into another Anime that I think would suit Chris's tastes especially.

Only problem is, the whole series costs a hundred bucks, yikes!
Or does it ?....

S'why I like RightStuf, if you're patient, you can often bag those uber-expensive ones like Chevalier D'Eon (which I enjoyed immensely) on the cheap - just a matter of waitin for the opportune moment, as Jack Sparrow would say.

And yes, I liked Last Exile - I originally picked it up on a whim when I found the boxset of the first four DVDs in RightStufs bargain bin for about $12USD, and followed up with getting the whole series (and I have those first four to loan out to other folks, as a baited hook, hehehe) cause it was just that damn good.

I liked Dio immensely, he's a sweet guy even if he is a little nuts - Lucciola means "firefly" in Italian, just so you know.

While it doesn't reach the quality peak of Last Exile, and takes a different tack on things, I consider Scrapped Princess a good companion set to Last Exile - although at the time I picked it up it was only $16.50USD for the entire set, and that's gone up quite a bit recently.

It also has one of the most hilariously one-sided magical brawls ever, ProTip: if your opponents incantations are 1/10th as long as yours... RUN!

And imma get back to blowin up the Filthy Monkeys(humans) in SoTS... I play Hiver, mind.

I just finished Last Exile yesterday, and my jaw was on the floor throughout the entire series!
Simply the most gorgeous animé series I've seen!
