This movie just moved up a few notches in my book. After Transformers 2, I wasn't too keen on the end of this trilogy.

*SQUEEE*

If he's playing a Transformer I hope he gets a flight mode. Maybe the Osprey ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/V-22_Osprey), 'cause it's the most Firefly-like vehicle we're like to see (rotating engines, cargo-hauler).

Which I guess would make him either Incinerator ( http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Incinerator_%28Movie%29) or Springer ( http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Springer_%28ROTF%29). He'd make a good Springer; equal parts funny, charming, and badass.

Hey, maybe this means we'll finally get to see the Springer/Arcee/Hot Rod romantic triangle.

I'm usually willing to watch Alan in most things he does but if it is just his voice then I won't be interested as this film will undoubtedly be a bigger pile of go-se than the last one.

I think the franchise is pretty bad... and this is coming from a FAN of Michael Bay's.

The second movie is particularly ludicrous and incoherent, but both movies are marked by tons of noise and chaos, and not graced with a lot of quality acting. LaBeof's performance will make you miss his stellar turn in Indy IV, and while Megan Fox may be eye candy, she's the female equivalent of Hayden Christiansen: a performer so bad that she actually makes those around her worse.

Following the plot is akin to trying to hold a bucketful of sand in your hand. In both cases, I literally forget what was happening as I was watching the movie.

But if you want to see CGI robots destroy stuff, I guess it's pretty good.

IMHO? No.
But some folks do like it.

It's definitely one for putting your brain in neutral and going along for the ride. Any semblance of a coherent thought and the plot will fall apart, the okay to terrible acting will show through and the suspension of dibelief will creep in when you wonder how a normal human could survive an explosion from six feet away and barely get scratched. Shia LaBeouf is someone I consider to be a potentially good actor but these movies don't really show it although he is likable which helps. Megan Fox shows you exactly why she is 'famous' and it isn't for her acting. The Las Vegas guy proves that he'll be returning to TV land (or B-movies) pretty soon. John Turturro hams it up

On the plus side the Autobots and Decepticons look great. The morphing is fantastic although it's so complicated you can't really see what's going on.

My biggest problem with both movies was that they gave these alien creatures human emotions and reactions and IMO they took it too far and it made them silly (especially those twin Autobots in the second movie).

But as I say some people really like them.
For me they are a watch once type film. Worth it for the spectacle but not much else.

The first transformers made my brain hurt. So, I skipped the second. Even Alan won't get me to see the 3rd. They completely botched the Transformers franchise with these movies. Luckily for them they got paid huge piles of cash in the process.

Man, that just seems wrong. Alan is too good for that crap, but we all need a paycheck I suppose. I wish he could get into the Avatar sequel. I think his personality and acting skills could improve the franchise, and I can imagine him being excellent in any variety of roles.

The franchise is good, the movies are go-se. Between Michael Bay being a dick to his writers and having no understanding or interest in characters, plot, or subtlety, they're really just a VFX reel.

I tend to treat all TF fiction these days as a sort of media buffet; I pick and choose what I like while ignoring the rest (see: http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Personal_canon).

Yeah, because goofball comic relief characters clearly have no business in Transformers.

Hell, the only reason we didn't get the twins in G1 was because that particular stereotype didn't exist back then. We had to settle for Jazz and Blaster.

SMH. Don't doubt the power of the Allspark Sam. I HOPE TO GOD that this movie will transform Sam into what his true destiny must only be, and that's the new form of the Allspark. Get it, it's the only viable option possible. Now that said, WHY THE FUCK did they make Bumblebee a Camero in the movies, and not a Mustang like in the show. Anybody? Help me out here.

They'd have to cast every one of our BDH before I would even consider going to see it. I thought the first was fairly bad - the second made it look like a freakin masterpiece.

I too, am generally a Bay fan, but I hate his Transformer movies.

Uh, when was Bumblebee ever a Mustang?

The original Bumblebee was a VW Bug....

If nothing else, think of this as a high-profile project with Alan Tudyk's name attached. The more people who see Alan Tudyk, the more people who'll get curious, check his other work, and find Firefly. . .

Bee's never been a Mustang. His usual G1 form was a Volkswagon Beetle, but he can't wear that anymore since Volkswagon refuses to be associated with "war toys" (it's a German thing). Same reason Jazz can't be a Porsche anymore.

Because Chevy paid and Ford did not. However, the original Bumblebee was a VW Beetle. Because of connotations associated with WWII, VW refused to allow their vehicles to be used as weapons of destruction for the CGI shows and the movies.

They don't anymore. 2010 is the last year for that piece of go-se New Beetle. And for what it's worth, the Beetle was designed by Ferdinand Porsche, not Hitler. He just rode in the back of one.

Uh, maybe you've noticed they've redesigned it - oh, about 15 years ago. Don't think Hitler had much to do with that one....

Unless it was Zombie Hitler, oooooh.....

Bumping because we have new information:

reveals-his_03.html

Sadly, no Tudyk-voiced Transformer, but this does mean we'll get to see his face --and he'll be playing alongside a comic relief character, so the stage is set for some wacky fun.

(link added by me)

When I asked Tudyk about the character he plays in Michael Bay’s ultra secret film, Transformers 3, the actor confidently replied, “John Turturro’s character, who has been in the other two movies, Agent Simmons [ http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Seymour_Simmons]. I’m a fellow agent of his that is sort of his assistant and weapons expert, computer hacker, cyber sleuth.”

(This is kinda a minor spoiler, I guess, since the last time we saw Simmons, he wasn't actually an agent anymore. I guess helping to take out Devastator earned his way into NEST.)

Good find Cybersnark. I know that Alan will have a lot of fun with the role and will sell audiences on the part.

Looking forward to seeing him on the big screen again.
