God, what a great film.
Y'all NEED to see this American masterpiece.
A truly humbling flick. It reminds what's important.
Very Buddhist.
Very REAL.
Y'know, for a movie based in fantasy.

Now, where's that box of tissues...

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

I agree. I've been impressed with Brad Pitt as an actor for a long time, and David Fincher is a great director. It's one of the few films I got through Netflix that I rated 5 out of 5 stars.

It does seem like one of those films that people either really liked, or didn't like.

I know I loved it, and yet my sister said she found it long and boring.

I can definitely see why, as I'm not one to usually like those films that try to skip around too much, and since BB is trying to show an entire life in a single film, it skips around quite a bit. For some reason I didn't mind though.

And yeah, Brad Pitt is a great actor if he gets the right role, and Fincher is a master.
That said, I didn't think Pitt was the best part of this, as his role wasn't as diverse. Not to say he was bad at all, he was good, it's just that it was the supporting characters who were the interesting ones, like Taraji Henson, Cate Blanchett and Jason Flemyng, to name a few.

I liked this movie. I wouldn't call it a classic or anything but it was highly enjoyable and very well acted by all involved.
I have a taste for films that just tell a story about a character. The film makers don't jazz it up with OTT special effects or try to make it too funny or add too much action. They just let the story weave its tale.
Reminded me in a lot of ways of Forrest Gump.

Brad Pitt is one of those actors who always puts in at least a good performance - even if the rest of the movie doesn't match up to it. He has made some fantastic films with Seven, Twelve Monkeys, Snatch, Inglourious Basterds and Burn After Reading amongst my favourites.

LWaves, Button was written by Eric Roth, who also wrote Forrest Gump, so there's your connection!

I assume you've seen Fight Club as well? One of Pitt's best ones, along with Seven, Twelve Monkeys and Snatch.

Also, if you liked this film and Seven, I'd recommend that you check out two of David Fincher's (director) other films. He also directed Fight Club, Panic Room and Zodiac.

Zodiac in particular, I feel, was extremely underappreciated. Great acting, and a great (although long) look at the huge toll that a serial killer investigation can take on people's lives.

Okay, hands up! I forgot Fight Club. Ooops.

Ahhh! The same writer does explain it a lot. Thanks for that.

As for Fincher I thought Panic Room was okay but nothing special. Zodiac was great but too long - as you say. I also liked The Game which was a good twisty turny film for its time.

I agree Brad Pitt is an amazing actor and he did an excellent job as the title character in Benjamin Button but can I confess that while liking the movie I too thought it was long and almost boring as BigRichard's sister did.

The consensus my wife and I reached was that we enjoyed the flick a lot but would not want to see it again for a long time. Just a little too much to sit through again, whereas a movie like Forest Gump, though incredibly long, I can get into at any moment and start watching.

And if we're listing our fav Pitt films, how about Troy and Meet Joe Black?

What's the movie actually about? Yeah there's some guy who ages backwards. That's nice. What's the story though? I'm not going to see batman if all they tell me is it has a guy in a mask and cape. That's not a story.

Now we're talking! So, does he learn as he gets younger or does he forget things that happened because for him they were in the past or something?

No, that's the plot of Memento.

It's more like the past is always with him and he holds on to that anger and funnels it into his nocturnal vigilante streak. As for the learning, I don't think we see any of that until he turns into Christian Bale and is being manipulated by mongolian ninjas.

awww I thought you meant this Button guy is a crime fighter. That was a start of a decent story at least. What's his deal?

The Mexican was okay-ish.
Not seen Babylon but I take it you mean Babel and I haven't seen that either.
Really love his small role in True Romance - Floyd just cracks me up everytime.
Meet Joe Black was good but I felt it could have been better.
Mr & Mrs Smith was a fun movie.

Gotta admit, I didn't like Babel.
BUT. He and Cate Blanchett were excellent in their part. I just can't stand films that chop and change between a few different stories, even if they do all 'tie up' at the end.
