Destroyer of worlds, Roland Emmerich, has another one on his sight, and I don't mean it in a good way.

I enjoy Emmerich's films, I really do. They're just great entertainment. But my problem with this project is two-fold.
1. He shouldn't be allowed to adapt Asimov.

2. This quote: ""It's not only the effect of 3-D, ['Avatar' has] just shown that if you do a movie in 3-D, you can ask for more money and that's the trick."

Show's what his main concern is.

Worrying, but will probably end up seeing it if it gets made.

... fully loaded, safety off...

BR - I picked up on that same quote too. That's troublesome. I already have a beef with 3D being a smudge on cinematography and now, clearly with the DOLLAR success of Avatar and the weight of the Cameron machine behind it, 3D will be everywhere. It's going to be more about a gimmick than the story. "I have no idea what it was about but it looked so cool!" I hope it's a only a brief phase.

I'm happy that Foundation looks to be getting made, but 3D? Superfluous gimmick. Ask anyone with sight loss in one eye.

Roland Emmerich is going to make Foundation and your biggest worry is that its going to be in 3D... wuh?

Why this determination to film Foundation? No files on it as a classic SF novel, but its the worst sort of SF to film: arthouse plot, blockbuster special effects. If they want to film Asimov, I'd have thought that the Elijah Bailey novels were the best bet: Hollywood know how to make whodunnits, and they could amp up the action a bit without losing the plot.

Can't we find Mr Emmerich a SF book where lots of shit blows up? Maybe Childhood's End (just keep the beginning of Independence Day, pad it out with some father/mother searching for a missing kid, then blow up the Earth - ker-ching!). (shudder!)

Or why not adapt some Neil Asher? Plenty of carnage.

Now, one story that might benefit from Avatar-style CGI and 3D is the Doc Smith Lensman books - but that might be taken: currently in development hell with J.M. Straczynski and Ron Howard. At least, with that, if the result isn't cheesy [i[they ain't doing it right! ( http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Forget-Avatar-Lensman-Is-The-Next-Big-T

- but be warned that your pop-up shields will be radiating into the violet).

Keep the Shiny side up

I'm still holding out hope that someone, sometime, somewhere, will remake Starship Troopers correctly. It would seem to be a natural for CGI and 3-D.

Oh, I would love that.

Or how about someone finally doing Stranger in a Strange Land. It's been optioned so many times I've lost count. Imagine the 3D effect of Michael "disappearing" an object or a person. Plus the flying cars. Gotta have flying cars.

Have you ever seen Roughnecks: Starship Troopers?

Sweet Boneless Christ! I'm done with Emmerich. I could only make it about an hour into 2012.
Suddenly I have a new appreciation for Michael Bay's movies !

I can't judge any of those fairly. I haven't seen an Emmerich movie since Independence Day, and wouldn't be caught dead watching Michael Bay either. The last of his I saw was Armageddon.

that helped, as did having Cusack.
Doesn't help that I'm not a huge LeBeouf fan too.
But I dunno, I just found 2012 so much more thrilling and fun to watch, compared to Transformers which I just never got into.

Lets face it, we'd rather just watch neither!
