My favorite helicopter movie ever!

God! Deadly Encounter! Haven't seen that in like.... Forever. Best helicopter flying movie ever.

Okay CL, Le Mans IS the best racing movie ever, but Deadly Encounter CAN'T be as good as Birds Of Prey (with David Janssen)!! OR Blue Thunder!!
Or, of course, Airwolf.

I have Birds of Prey on DVD, and yes, Deadly Encounter is several times better. (They were both directed by William A. Graham and written by Robert Boris)

"Until the release of the great Blue Thunder and the launch of Airwolf, this was certainly the best rotary action film produced."

Nobody's posted a YouTube clip of the best stunt in the movie, and I don't know how to do it, so you'll just have to settle for this...

Blue Thunder while one of my favorites wasn't as groundbreaking in the aerial stunt department as Deadly.

Most of the climatic dogfight in Blue Thunder was filmed with large scale Radio Control models.

Being a TV Movie, Deadly Encounter, not having that kind of budget did everything with real helicopters. Hence from the pure flying side of things. I prefer Deadly Encounter for the precision of the flying sequences.

At that price the film will be obscure.

Freedom is Important because People are Important

Hello,

Closet Land is really worth seeing. Hardly anyone I've met has watched it.

When I saw Captain Sheridan get interrogated on B5, it reminded me of this.

This is one I have not seen in decades. The child is the star of the film.

Hello Chrisisall:

Remembered another film that others may have seen.

Tyrone Power at his best. Well he was always great.

Lots of obscure films here. ::-)
For another racing film, how about The Young Racers? The crew followed the F1 circuit of the early 60s, using crowds, tracks, etc.
IMDb claims Shatner looped all the dialog for the male lead.

Also, I believe the Lasseter mentioned upthread was named in honor of John Lasseter of Toy Story fame.

That was an interesting flick. I felt it was one rewrite away from being really good, but it was pretty neat as-is.

Okay, so maybe this was addressed already, but the thread is way to long for me to look.

Anyway, the recent Firefly book clarified that the Lassiter gun was named for Pixar's John Lassiter (whom Joss worked with on Toy Story).
