They killed Firefly & now expect me to watch THIS???
No way- at least not on Fox. If it's good- it will be canceled. If it's bad, it'll have five seasons. Either way we lose.
Eff 'em.
(P.S., Wagner, that last link is sort of redundant, & stretches the field WAAAAY out- could you lose it? It would be a kindness!

As for the show it sounds like something at Fox may have realised that they made a mistake cancelling our show (not that they'll ever admit it) and now they want to try and get something out of the idea. They wouldn't stoop to give our show back so the next best thing is to make something similar.
Part of me wants it to fail before it hits the air.
And I'm sure Joss wouldn't say anything negative about the show but it's gotta hurt to hear this. I look forward to reading what he thinks.

It's gonna need something mighty to make me watch it.
Like that Castle guy as the gunslinger, maybe the agent from Chuck as tough guy, whatsername from V as a brothel owner, the Terminator girl as a crazy tag-along.
You know, this is starting to ring some bells...

OUTERRIMVAGRANT

There were rumblings of this project several months back. (Oldish news that was reported on this site. It's somewhere in the archive methinks. :s)

I'm glad it's been picked up again as a talking point.

How will the Firefly fanbase react to the show? Will they support it or not?

Anywho.. Chuck is a pretty cool show, but I groaned a little when I heard the concept for this.

I'll have to wait and see, before making the decision to watch. (I'm still a little stunned at the cancellation of Dollhouse. My good taste radar is on the fritz. I really thought they'd give it a chance. Grr!) :)

My gut tells me that it'll have the same approach as Moonlight. (A tv show that unabashedly smacks of another, then gets canned shortly thereafter.)

Fingers crossed that isn't the case.

Kick in the nuts, slap in the face.....call it what you will, there is no disguising this piss-poor attempt to capture the Browncoat faithful by retooling our beloved Firefly.

Hollywood will take any idea, show or cult following and bastardize it to make a quick buck. I don't care how you dress it - it's still a poor-man's Firefly. Fox killed it prematurely and is now in the process of trying to catch lighting in a bottle. They don't want to admit to their mistake, so rather than bring Firefly back they offer up a substitute - a Firefly lite, if you will.

They can keep their knock-offs.
