That is so ****ing incredible. I've dabbled in 3D programs a little in my past but the amount of patience required to pull of something like this is amazing. Is see several visits to a therapist and maybe a stay in the nuthouse for this guys future.

As one of the posters stated - you'd have to be a massive fan of this ship and Star Trek to build it in so much detail.

I think I'll keep an eye on this one, see how it goes.

And you'll notice that on post #39 he added a sig...

Maybe we should finish him off (mentally) and ask him to do Serenity next. A fully detailed room by room 3D model, including both shuttles.

Hey! Nice to see you, Havoc! I'd lost track of your project for a while. Thanks for reminding me.

Yeah, I've been so impressed by the 3D work on sites like Sci-Fi Meshes, but I've always wondered why nobody's ever done any of the corridors from A L I E N (or any other of Ron Cobb's designs).

I've also wanted to see somebody model the Alliance Cruiser from Firefly, but apparently I'm the only one who's impressed by it.
ZOIC never even released any 5-view renders of it, like they did with Serenity and the Reaver ship.

Thank you. And, yeah, I agree. There are a lot of virtual environs I'd love to see created on massive scale; but, there are few artists who will bother taking on such huge projects. To a great extent, I'd agree with the reasons given. But, then I also went off on what's been called an "epic" build. So, I wouldn't rank myself among the timid. I wish there were more folks out there taking on these large builds. But I also wish that the software allowed for a great deal more. That said, 10 years ago I couldn't have done what I'm now doing. And in another 10, what I've done may look passe' lol. I've taken steps to insure against the latter; but, we'll see.

Eventually, though, I am intending to do serenity and a few nice props. I'll be happy in the meantime just to finish my personal Everest.

Now, remind me again: You are doing this so that people can do a full walk-through, right?
I was in Second Life, and heard tell of a full-size Enterprise that you could walk through. Turned out... not so much.

Yeah, the plan from the beginning was to export at least part of the ship for use in Unreal and/or Oblivion engines. I actually did test work for the bridge deck in "Thief III". It scaled well and was rather fun to play with; but, it was really bare bones stuff.

And next to his/her avatar it says "Hero of a crappier town..." Firefly references ftw!

Havoc, very very very cool renderings. I'm in awe of the time and talent it took to do that...

Thank you. I had thought of doing just the bridge deck and moving on; but, I went mental and decided to finish what I started.. otherwise I'd likely be modding Thief III levels still ;)
