My other favorite sci-fi series is "Red Dwarf." I wore out the vhs tapes, but now I have the dvd set so I don't have to worry about that now. If you get a chance to check it out, you really should. The guys that write it have a sick sense of humor (well, the are British...) that really appeals to me.

NB: Over here in the UK, we were treated to some brand spanking new Red Dwarf earlier this year - a 3-parter called "Back to Earth".

Not brilliant, but rabid fans will want to see it. Although the story was a bit of a self-referential gimmick it was still more than just a reunion/flashback show.

RIMMER: (VO) After intensive investigation, comma, of the markings on the alien pod, comma, it has become clear, comma, to me, comma, that we are dealing, comma, with a species of awesome intellect, colon.

HOLLY: Good. Perhaps they might be able to give you a hand with your punctuation.

HOBBLEIT

love it :D

Holly: Nothing wrong with dog's milk. Full of goodness, full of vitamins, full of marrowbone jelly. Lasts longer than any other type of milk, dog's milk.
Lister: Why?
Holly: No bugger'll drink it. And the advantage of dog's milk is it tastes exactly the same when it's gone off as when it's fresh.
Lister: Why didn't you tell me, Hol?
Holly: What, and spoil your tea?

The United Kingdom has such great shows and they are willing to share with us colonists. Everytime they were running from some space monster I had money on Cat. He had the moves.

I like em' all. I really missed Holly when he was gone, though, always loved to see him come back. Kind of thought the show was weaker without him. If Cat had disappeared, though, I probably would have thought it was weaker without him, too.

I am almost entirely Dave Lister. Except my skin is a good deal lighter, my hair doesn't dread up quite so well, and my accent is sadly not Scouse. Other than that though....

I am all about Arnold J Rimmer, BSC, SSC! He had all the best lines. Everybody was good, and I really enjoyed Kochanski, but Rimmer is my favorite! I'm especially fond of the "Arnold Rimmer song"...if you know it, sing along:
If you're in trouble he will save the day
He's brave and he's fearless, come what may
Without him the mission would go astray
He's Arnold, Arnold, Arnold Rimmer
Without him life would be much grimmer

Mr Flibble is very angry!

LWAVES

One of the funniest if not THE funniest conversations ever:

Lister: D'ya think Wilma's sexy?
Cat: Wilma Flintstone?
Lister: Maybe we've been alone in deep space too long, but every time I see that body, it drives me crazy. Is it me?
Cat: Well, I think in all probability, Wilma Flintstone is the most desirable woman that ever lived.
Lister: That's good. I thought I was going strange.
Cat: She's incredible!
Lister: What d'ya think of Betty?
Cat: Betty Rubble? Well, I would go with Betty... but I'd be thinking of Wilma.
Lister: This is crazy. Why are we talking about going to bed with Wilma Flintstone?
Cat: You're right. We're nuts. This is an insane conversation.
Lister: She'll never leave Fred, and we know it.

Absolutely brilliant show that stayed well ahead of most other comedies for most of it's run. It had characters you cared about and was one of those shows that you couldn't wait to talk to your mates about the following day.
An undoubted classic.
