First Contact was somewhat laughable IMO except for Patrick Stewart, and Generations just plain sucked.
Insurrection was THE best NG movie, and Nemesis was 'acceptable' as far as the FX & the marriage scene could take it.
If you disagree, you will be assimilated; resistance is futile.

TOS only:

1. Wrath of Khan
2. Undiscovered Country
3. Voyage Home
4. Star Trek: The Motion Picture
5. Search for Spock
6. Star Trek 2009
7. Final Frontier

Full List:

1. Wrath of Khan
2. Undiscovered Country
3. Voyage Home
4. First Contact
5. Star Trek: The Motion Picture
6. Search for Spock

The bottom 3 are pretty much tied for "don't care if I never see them again". I tried to like the new one, but I just didn't enjoy it very much (I outlined some of my reasons in the "Official I WATCHED TREK thread").

LWAVES

Couple of days late noticing this thread but here goes...

1 - The Wrath Of Khan
Gave us the action that TMP missed (not that it's a bad thing), plus the return of a genuine bad guy threat. And then Spock's death. Still tears me up....

2 - The Motion Picture
Gave Star Trek back to us and had the best looking Enterprise ever.

3 - Star Trek 2009
Gave us proper Star Trek again. No more dodgy acting from Numb-bum 1 and Can't-kill-her Troi.

4 - The Undiscovered Country
Just coz I likes me a good mystery.

5 - The Voyage Home
Good for the laughs but a little bit too cheesy in areas.

6 - The Search For Spock
Good in most parts (esp. Christopher Lloyd) but let down by his son's bad acting.

7 - The Final Frontier
The search for God. Spock's never before mentioned half-brother. Still better than all the TNG movies except First Contact.

Over time this may change and it was hard not putting the new film at number 2 but The Motion Picture is what it is for a reason. And we do get that great musical score.

STORYMARK

Well, I'm still not sure on where to place the new one. Too fresh. It'll need to settle in my consiousness a bit before I can be positive on it's standing. But I'll give it a shot.

And I'm gonna rank all Trek films.... because I wrote this out before fully reading the thread title, and I don't wanna go back and pull them out. ;)

1. Wrath of Khan - I still adore this one. Best submarine movie ever.

2. First Contact - I'm a TNG kid at heart, and this being their only totally solid film, I gotta give it high marks.

3. Star Trek (2009) - A hell of a lot of fun. The script has some big holes and too many overly conveniant moments, so it may slip with a little perspective.

4. The Voyage Home - Again, just a fun film, with great character work.

5. The Undiscovered Country - A bit cheesy in places, but still fun.

6. The Motion Picture - A little dry and emotionally removed for my usual tastes, but a very good old-school Science Fiction (not scifi) film.

7. Seach for Spock - A decent adventure. It's be better if Shatner wasn't wearing a pink and maroon outfit throughout the film.

8. Insurrection - Yeah, it's a 2-hour episode, without the scope of a feature film, or even a TV movie, really. But still, it's unoffensive fun, and has some nice character moments.

9. Generations - Who kept turning off all the damned lights on the Enterprise!?!

10. The Final Frontier - There's nothing I really like about this movie.

11. Nemesis - This one I hate. Shoddy rip-off of WOK, with a nonsensical script. Terrible movie. TNG deserved a better send-off.

My list has definitely changed!

#1: ST 2009
#2: Voyage Home
#3: Undiscovered Country
#4: TMP
#5: Wrath of Kahn
#6: Search for Spock

and that's it for the original cast. Really, that is it. There just weren't any more TOS movies. Nope.

TNG movies:

#1: First Contact
#2: Insurrection
#3: Nemesis (am I the only one who liked this movie??)
#4: Generations

I never expected the new movie to top this list but I loved it!

All Trek Crews

Fun action/adventure film, well cast

BLUESUNCOMPANYMAN

1. Wrath of Khan.
An awsome story that stands the test of time. Enshrined by the Trek community for good reason. "I have never taken the Kobayashi Maru test until now. What do you think of my Solution? I have been and always shall be you friend" I know people who shed tears the first time they saw that. Kahn is a film that touched that special place to make one feel a true emotion. This is why it will never be forgotten.
2. Star Trek (2009)
A smart re-boot but I'll admit I wanted 1st verse canon, & not a sidestep alternate. The fate of Vulcan made me twist terribly in my seat...I did not like it at all! Another issue to me was the illogical and sudden promotion of Kirk. Beyond those things there were lots of other positive elements JJ Abrams brought to the table, so it places 2nd.
3. First Contact
It has it's occasional flaws but it fits the canon of Trek history tightly. A worthy effort overall.
4. Star Trek TMP
Classic Trek on the big screen. This fact alone means it must be acknowledged. It's slightly dry and presented in a manner of vintage Sci-fi, much like 2001 A Space Odyssey. There is an honorable place for this.
5. Search for spock
Neither a good film nor a failure. It was, however, predictable. I submit myself as evidence to this. I walked out of Wrath of Khan holding my dad's hand at age 5 and said "I'll bet the next movie brings spock back!" to which my 3-year-old sister replied by repeating "Spock! Spock! Spock!" and clapping her hands. Yea, predictable is an understatement.
6. Voyage Home
It has laughs but contains too many logical problems in the story. And transparent aluminum...it has transparent aluminum. WTF?

--Uh oh....now I'm into the stinkers--

7. The Undiscovered Country
The film just feels like they're trying to squeeze EVERY----LAST----DROP out of the popularity of Kirk's character. Gorramit people there is an end to everything, let it end please.
8. Insurrection
One word: Boring. I never thought I would get tired in a Trek screening until the night I watched Insurrection.
9. Nemesis
To count the logic holes in Nemesis would be to try to count stars in the Orion spiral arm of the milky way. I've experienced Nemesis in a manner identical to Star Wars II & III: One time in a theater & then they've been forgotten.
10. Generations
I had to place this one by asking myself "between this and Final Frontier, which angers me more and which less?" Generations and it's foolish Nexus plotline gets the better position because of pleasant memories of the girl I was with the night I first saw Generations and what happened twixt us when we were not watching the film.
11. Final F**king Frontier
A complete, utter, overwhelming insult to Trek. A stinking pile of Go-see. Typing these words is making my blood pressure rise because to do so means I'm forced to consider Trek 5. This movie exists in the same place as Highlander 2, IT DIDN'T HAPPEN. Gr Arg. ARG I say!

Hey Chris, why no love for Khan?

Okay, First Contact is definitely a better film, but Nemesis doesn't contain as many *groan* moments for me, so it's easier for me to watch.

I like it fine, I just think, looking back with perspective now, that it's a simple story, a remake of Balance Of Terror in a way, with a death thrown in to seem deep. My favourite Trek has always had a message...TMP- meaning of life...IV- don't f**k with the whales...VI- be aware of your bias...

God, Nemesis is nothing but one loooong "Groan" moment for me. Terrible, terrible script. Hate that movie.

The message of Wrath of Kahn, to me at least, is dealing with growing old and facing death. At 46 years of age, that move resonates more with me now than ever!

I'd given some thought to movin' off the edge -- not an ideal location -- thinkin' a place in the middle.
