In the trailer, it looks like they upped the dramatic factor and playing it serious like Battlestar Galactica. Well, I seriously hope it's like BSG and not like Voyager.

Maybe I should track the news for the series on Shiny Universe.

It may be like "Red Dwarf", only dark and creepy.

I hope it's not too much like VOYAGER (unwatchable!) OR BSG (too dreary!).

I think they were possibly trying to show more dramatic scenes to appeal to the BSG fanbase. I think the teaser first aired during a BSG episode, though I'm not 100% on that

At least I certainly hope they include some degree of the Stargate trademark humor, banter and lightheartedness... If not it probably won't be worth watching.

The casting does lend some hope though, at least so far as mixing newcomers and young faces with experienced veterans(talented or kinda talented). That's what they did with the other SG shows and it seemed to work well enough. As long as the writers had interesting stories to tell anyway. And you can't completely blame them for wanting a younger cast to start a new series. Most of the cast of SG-1 was late 20's/early 30's when it started. Still... I'm holding off real judgment until I see it.

Also, I can't believe they seriously think Syfy(SHUDDERS) is a suitable name for anything, except maybe a cute nickname for a venereal disease. :\

TRAVELER

I'm surprised they did not co this earlier. I would assume that as time went by the teams would specialise. Some like the first teams and others as science driven or political. Then you may have those designed to back-up teams that are in trouble.

This series appears to have a different theme. Not so much defeating a threat as just trying to survive and find a way home. Much like Star Trek Voyager. The trailer seemed dark and serious. This is a good start. Now cross your fingers and hope the writing and characters are intriguing.

I hope for Stargate fans, I include myself, that this proves a great show. I don't have cable, so I don't get to see these shows until they are in syndication. Look forward to it.

Nice to see more people being intelligent about this and not going with the old "OMG SG:90210!" and all that. I'm giving this show a fair chance.

I was sad that they ended SGA but I feel they were running out of *great* stories to tell and it was best they leave on a strong note, which they did. I look forward to the upcoming Atlantis movie(s).

I'll still be holding out hope for at least some glimpse of favorite characters from the previous series... Ronon, Rodney, Sam, Walter and of course Teal'c, nothing they ever did to that character ever made him less likable, even the hair, though I preferred him shaved or like he was on Atlantis with the long hair. At least they gave it a meaning, finally moving on and not shaving his head like a married man. I know Woolsey and Jack are probably going to guest star in the pilot(s), which is cool. Any familiar faces will be a nice sight, just as long as it isn't too often.

Anyway here's to hoping we get another great, fun, likable and above all entertaining series outta this.
