I just watched this show on syndication. The main character flashed in front of me and I knew I had seen this character in another series, but could not place her at first. When I was going to bed it hit me; Wonderfalls. The character of George Lass is an exact copy of Jaye Tylor. I went to IMdB and sure enough the main man in both series is Bryan Fuller from Canada. I love Wonderfalls and now I get to see another of Bryan Fuller's creations. This should be fun.

America loves a winner!

George was a slacker for no real reason. I liked Jaye because she had at least gone to college, gotten her degree and THEN became a slacker. But yeah, I liked both shows.

HELL'S KITTEN

Dead Like Me is a fantastic show.
Not sure I'd say Georgia is identical to Jaye... similarities, sure, but Jaye was far more independent, among other things.

And for the love of whichever god you like, stay away from the Dead Like Me movie that just came out. It is quite possibly one of the worst excuses for a movie ever, and it is an absolute disgrace when compared to the series.

=(

Hello Hell's Kitten:

It was George's cynical narration that told me I knew this character from some other show. It seems so strange that I could not place her immediatly. I have only watched Wonderfalls at least dozen times. But I have only seen one episode of Dead Like Me, so I am sure that Geoge and Jaye will have some differences.

When I went to IMdB to look them up I thought I would see Tim Minear's name come up and was surprised to see these shows are linked through Bryan Fuller. I suspect as the years go by we will be hearing more from this man.

When I went ot the forum for Dead Like Me at IMdb, several people warned about viewing the film. It seems the powers that be did not bring back Bryan Fuller to lead this film into production. Their mistake.

As I keep a watch on what Joss's career I will now add Bryan Fuller on by keep track of list. I consider Wonderfalls the funniest series I ever watched. I have more then once broken out in a horse laugh watching one of those episodes, and that is after watching this show many time and knowing what is coming up. That is the main reason I brought it up in the first place. In case other have not discovered these series they will have a chance to learn about them here.

Of course I may be the only one who was in the dark about Dead Like Me. After all I missed Firefly when it first came out. So I count myself lucky to have discovered it.

Thank God for IMdB. I have used them more times then I can ever imagine to search out films and TV shows that I have only the most minimal information to go on. Now I know about Bryan Fuller.

You weren't the only one in the dark about Dead Like Me. It was on Showtime, so a LOT of us missed it. I first saw it on SciFi, and then went and bought the seasons when they were on sale.

I looked forward to the movie, and haven't seen it yet, but I was leery when I found out that Mandy Patinkin wasn't part of it. For me, every show that he's ever been on has taken a sharp turn downward when he leaves. Chicago Hope, Dead Like Me, Criminal Minds... I don't know if his leaving tanks the show, or if he leaves because he can see where it's going, but it's never a good sign when he bows out. Just a pattern I've noticed. I tend to notice LOTS of patterns.

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

If you're looking for more stuff from Bryan Fuller you need to check out Pushing Daisies, the best thing that has been on tv since Firefly, imo. I just hope ABC does air the final three episodes, but I'll follow it online if I must.

I love Dead Like Me too, and Wonderfalls even more than that. I watched DLM through Netflix before Sci-Fi got the show, so I got to see it uncut. There was no chance Fuller was going to be a part of the movie since he left in the middle of the first season due to creative differences with Showtime. The movies' writers and producers, Godchaux and Masius, were the ones who did the remainder of the Showtime episodes.

I did miss Mandy, and the other supporting players had little to do, but the crux of the story was George and her sister Reggie, so if you concentrate on that part of the movie you won't be totally disappointed.
