The website Jumptheshark dot com was great, it was the one place you could go on the net and criticize a series without getting flamed by fanboy mobs. It covered shows like Smallville....and why it sucked
The series sucked from day one?
Clark can't fly isn't Superman?
Onslaught of fans fawning over Lana
The intro of lois lane....all moments when Smallville jumped the shark

Then you got 24 -
Chloe is too annoying
Jack's daddy is the terrorist
The deaths of Tony, Michelle etc
all moments when 24 'jumped'

Then there was BSG
Dumb New Caprica Time Jumps
Planet of the Apes Earth
Stupid Final 5 Cylons
Tigh the Cylon
Return of Starbuck Thrace...

Over the years the site slowly started to change becoming an advert for other shows
Now jumptheshark is totally gone, hundreds of polls and thousands of comments have been deleted in one click just so tv guide can get more adverts in the name of censorship

I was kind of looking forward to the critical polls and comments on 'Dollhouse' but the website was too busy whoring itself

Couldn't you flame Dollhouse at hulu? I think I read a few flames of the show in the comments there. I watched the first and second episodes at hulu and definitely felt the second was better than the first. I did not flame Dollhouse in the first episode because I wanted Dollhouse to be great for the future sake of a possible BDM2, but I also did not give it rave reviews. The closest I came to flaming the first episode of Dollhouse at hulu was saying I thought the second episode was better.

I think if you honestly want to flame any series, you should be able to do so almost anywhere, as long as your flame is honest. I think many of the Browncoats here would be able to read your flames here if the flames were honest, because Firefly is an honest show set in a corrupt ‘verse. I think most of the Browncoats here would reply to your flames with responses to any possible charges leveled against Firefly with honest replies, but there may be a few flames returned too.

Why do you need a site dedicated to posting complaints about entertainment? It seems to me the internet is filled with angry/disappointed postings on just about every website in existence.

How can a series "jump the shark" more than once? I thought the very defintion was a show has that moment where it turns for the worse and never regains it's glory. Can that happen multiple times?

I don't think he was talking about any one series jumping the shark more than once.

SCHISM

I get your point though.

It was a web site that not only had a lot of following, but helped coin a phrase.

Now it's had it's entire soul scooped out and replaced with watered-down 'critiques' of only current shows that are light enough to still be considered advertisements for said show.
Sad, really.

...and the corporate machine rallies on...

Actually it was "Happy Days," which coined the phrase jumping the shark, when Fonzie jumped a shark with water skis.
