America loves a winner!

Daisies, Eli Stone and Dirty Sexy Canceled

ABC has canceled Pushing Daisies, executive producer Bryan Fuller has confirmed to me exclusively.

"I just heard the news," star Kristin Chenoweth tells us in an exclusive interview tonight. "Obviously it's a bittersweet night." (Keep reading for much more from Bryan and Kristin.)

According to our inside sources, Eli Stone and Dirty Sexy Money also have been canceled. Reps for both shows have declined to comment. However, sources who work on Eli and DSM say they were informed today the shows would not continue.

So what happened? And is there any chance these characters will live on?

Bryan Fuller tells me, "[ABC president] Steve McPherson called me and said, 'We gave it the best shot we could.' "

According to Fuller, the facts are these: "It's very likely that Pushing Daisies will end after episode 13, which as you know, is a cliffhanger. But we are talking to DC Comics about doing comic books that will wrap up our storylines, and I already have a pitch for a [big-screen] movie ready to go."

ABC intends to air the remaining Daisies episodes that have been shot, either in the current Wednesday at 8 p.m. timeslot or in another spot

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

I knew it was coming but hoped they would wait to make the announcement. ABC is saying they will run all thirteen ordered episodes, but of course that might change if they feel they have something else ready to take its place.

I'll watch all they run and will buy the dvds to cherish for years to come, just as I did with Wonderfalls and Dead Like Me before that.

This really blows my mind.

Pushing Daisies had amazing numbers for the first season. did it really lose so many of it's viewers?

WOW.

Unfortunetly, yes. The second season premiere was 55% lower than season 1, and the ratings have continued to slide since.

The Zeroth Amendment of the US Constitution "If some is good, more is better" is not always true.

Some ideas are good for hundreds of episodes:
"there's these guys in a spaceship who can go anywhere in time and space and have all sorts of adventures"

or

"We're in a hospital - all human life is here"

However - if you have a "high concept" such as:

"This guy works in a pie shop and solves murders by bringing the victim back to life and asking them who did it - plus if he touches his girlfriend, she'll die"

...then there's only so many good episodes you can wring out of it.

Plus, watching "Pushing Daisies" causes tooth decay. Fact.

The writers strike screwed up everything, shows like this, T:TSCC, Chuck were the only NEW shows to watch, when House, Lost, etc came back they got killed.

LETOV

Sadly, I'm not surprised. I loved the first season and ranted and raved about it to anybody I could get to listen to me. However, from the first episode of this season I just felt it had lost its spark. By a few episodes in, I was watching it more out of habit than any real excitement. Then I missed an episode a couple weeks ago. I wasn't excited enough about it to even try to watch it online. It saddens me horribly, but its the truth.

SHINYGOODGUY

It's a sad day really. This show was a delight in Season 1. Fresh, innovative and great storytelling.

But oh that writer's strike, plus ABC's penchant for putting shows on hiatus, well, it may have been too good for TV.

Eli Stone also a good show that could not find an audience. I don't know why though, nothing else to watch on Wednesdays.

Shiny! Let's be bad guys!

REGINAROADIE

Despite having Peter Krause in it, I have to say I'm not too bummed about DIRTY SEXY MONEY being cancelled. But the cancellations of ELI STONE and PUSHING DAISIES bums me out, even though the writing on the wall was there for DAISIES.

It really was a very imaginative series that was impossible to describe and has a very high wire concept, but they were able to dance on that wire without breaking a sweat. And I hope they do find a way to wrap up the series plotlines in any form, comic book or movie.

If there is one bit of good news from this is that Bryan Fuller is coming back to HEROES. While I don't think the show has suffered in his absence (I'm still defending the show), his return will definitely shut up all the people saying that the show is a lost cause, since he wrote "Company Man", which is without a doubt the best ep of the series so far.

I don't consider Fuller returning to Heroes a fair trade off. Granted that "Company Man" was the best ep of the series, Heroes was overrated in the first place and the weakness of the premise is glaringly obvious now. Pushing Daisies is a superior show in every single aspect and it deserves a better fate.

MRSUNIVERSE832

Nooooooooo!!!!!! I heard that it wasn't renewed....but CANCELLED?

Among all off the trash on TV these days, we NEED a beautifully warped, Gary Larsonian TV show!

Seriously, it actually TRUE that everybody just "LOOOOVES" so-called "reality shows" and soap operas like Grey's Anatomy and Desperate Housewives, but hates and can not understand intelligent, quirky, brilliant shows like Pushing Daisies, Firefly, and Threshold? (no offense to anyone on here who's fan of these shows, but I feel that these shows have been seen before.) What about The Lone Gunmen?
