Kinda funny, although admittedly not matching the quality of Raiders, I did still like Temple of Doom - wasn't so much the script or the acting, although the acting was better than expected...

It was that whoeever put it together did their homework - as a history buff, the Cult of Kali is one of the things I have a mild fascination with, and Temple of Doom portrayed them quite accurately, barring the usual pulp elements.

Although the bugs scene *twitch*... I HATE bugs...
Pure nightmare fuel, that.

LWAVES

DISCLAIMER:
I am not aiming this post at any particular members. There are a lot of names on this and the other thread that I respect the views of and the fact that some of us differ on this topic is great, it's what makes debate so good.

But...

I mentioned in another thread that I was done with talking about KOTCS. And I intend to stand by that (almost) by not commenting on the film itself. I believe I have made my views clear on what I think of this film and having re-read some of my posts I can see how they may have been taken to be seen as 'angry' or 'bitter' posts. That was never my intention when typing them. I am disappointed (very) but not angry or bitter. If they were read this way then I apologize.

I state for the record that I am not a Lucas hater. I liked the SW prequels, even with their faults. I still do like them and consider them a part of the whole story. Not everyone agrees and these films divided a lot of people on their release in much the same way as KOTCS has.

I also understand that there ARE people out there that will deliberately bash a film for no real reason or for the smallest of reasons. I am friends with one of them. He will look at the DVD cover, say it looks crap and that's the end of it for him. But I am not one of these people
I do feel though that that posters on this site with genuine criticism have been 'lumped' in with the 'bashers'. Of the comments I have read most of the naysayers have several reasons why they don't like the film or parts of the film. It doesn't mean they are out to deliberately 'have-a-go' at the film. It just means that when the parts they liked are weighed up against the parts they didn't like (however big or small they may be), the bad parts won out.

And not to sidetrack the thread, but why does it seem to be unacceptable to have a negative point of view for KOTCS, yet in other threads it seems acceptable to be negative of TV shows like Lost and BSG (and even TSCC) some people even using the phrase 'jump the shark'. I personally really like all three of these shows (all seasons), even the lesser episodes, and I have noticed that people seem more willing to give up on a show after they get a few episodes that they don't like. And then KOTCS comes in for some critique and it's seen as wrong in some way.
And please don't state that movies aren't the same as TV as they are both there for entertainment, delivered in a different way, but essentially the same. Yes, you have to invest more time on a week to week basis for TV, but film franchises can span many more years, even decades in the case of Indy.

I think Storymark is right that the posters that have a problem with KOTCS seem to have to defend the comments they make to a greater degree than those who like the film. I am happy that you like the film, a lot of people did. But please be accepting that a lot of people didn't like it. And that not everyone is out to gut and bleed the film dry, just that we have strong opinions on it, even if it is just a movie. Each person has their own reasons. Discuss it, but accept that it's their reasons and in their mind they are justifiable reasons.

One thing I can say for certain that we all should agree on. This film has made for some interesting posts.

Definitely, although some of the strength of certain opinions has taken me a little by surprise; it's been a little RWED is spots

Okay, I'll tell ya- I LOVED Temple of Doom, as much as I am coming to love Crystal Skull.
They are the two entries with the least to say character-wise, just balls-out action and mayhem, and on that level, I think they're fine.

Oh, and did ya catch Indy muttering 'intolerable' in CS?? Hi-larious...the son becomes the father, heh.

I'm lovin' it (tm)Chrisisall

Ha,ha. If it comes to being made I'll have them shipped over to you. In all manner of regional variations. How's that?

I'm hopefull with the pilot and comfortable with the other five episodes submitted. (we only have to have six episodes outlined here in the UK for a seires pick-up.)

Thanks for the kind words. It really does help.

I'd love to see it too. You have any ideas for the actors?

You forgot the sewing the flesh to their clothes part. That should help you get a PG-13; lot's of film time on the actual sewing, threading the needle, thread color, etc.

RFLMAO!

Then Nathan Fillion takes over the role of Indy for the critically acclaimed reimagining.

Thank you - I'll keep you posted.

In terms of actors, I made sure not to think of anyone while I was writing.
Now though I do look at certain actors and wonder... Ron Perlman, Robert Carlyle, Jodhi May, to name a few. But really the main ones probably need to be unknown.
