I found this article over at Superherohype.com and it looks pretty interesting.

http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=48597

Apparently the co-executive producers of the Office are working on a script for a third Ghostbusters movie. They are working with Harold Ramis (from the originals) and it sounds like the original cast could all come back as mentors for a new team.

With that, I think it's time to restart the discussions of how our very own BDM Nathan Fillion should be a Ghostbuster. I think his breed of humor would be perfect for the movie.

Any thoughts?

LWAVES

I'd heard they had the go ahead for a Ghostbusters 3 some time ago but had forgotten about it.

It's just so sad. Why can't they leave these franchises alone (yes I know it's easy money).
If it wasn't bad enough that Stallone did Rocky and Rambo to try and recapture some former glory we then had Die Hard 4. The OTT trailer was enough to put me off and then I heard what people said about it and I knew that I would never watch the film.
Then we get Indy 4. I think I've said enough about that in other threads just to leave it at 'sucked big time'.
Lucas continues to beat Star Wars into a bloody pulp with inferior products so that's another one ruined.

Now they announce Lethal Weapon 5 and with all the rehashes of horror movies I fear there is no end.

What's next Mad Max 4 (I have heard rumours).
Alien 5.
The Good, The Bad, The Ugly And The Non PC.

Mark my words, pretty soon we'll be seeing ET 2, Jaws 5, Titanic 2, Eight, The Godfather 4 etc etc.

And whist there are some fantastic films out there I can really understand why some TV is of the high quality that it is. It's a refuge for originality.

REGINAROADIE

To address both comments, while I agree that a third GHOSTBUSTERS is a couple decades too late, with Gene and Lee at the helm working with Harold Ramis and getting the original cast back together, I actually think that this could work. As long as they don't make the same mistakes that the second film made, then I think a third one could work.

As per Nathan in the cast, I think that's a bit of a stretch. He may be a bit too old to be one of the newcomers that they train, and while he's funny, he doesn't have that slightly detached ironic kind of humor that Murray does well, or the over enthusiastic nature of Ackroyd or the dry, analytical nature of Ramis. I'd be perfectly fine if the new guys are Seth Rogen, Jay Baruchel, Rainn Wilson and the guy that played Alpa Chino in TROPIC THUNDER. I think John Krasinki could do the Murray detached and slightly ironic type of humor.

Oh, and as for TV being a haven for originality, I direct you to the upcoming fall season of movies, where we do actually get to see true originality and artistry.

You gotta be kidding...

The Danny Glover character will be in his mid-70s by now...he really will be too old for this s***...

Then again, Mel Gibson has actually gone insane so that won't be too much of a stretch.

I'd actually welcome a 4th mad max installment. I like the idea of an aging Mel Gibson as an older Max. The first film protrayed a mid 20's Max. The second film displayed a mid 30's max...harder and colder. Thunderdome showed us a Max pushing middle age and further illistrated to us a world that has devolved further from the technology that was present in the 1st film. (Recall max was hauling his car with animals at the film's opening instead of driving it) With a 4th film we would get to see a Max now well into his 50's, dealing with the troubles of the fallen world while burdened with age. A final film with Max as an old man would provide nice closure. Of course you'd want to wait about 15 more years to do it as Gibson ages more and more.

Of course I'm a big gunslinger fan, and my desires for a 4th Max film tap into those thoughts.

Do not fear me. Our's is a peaceful race and we must live in harmony.
