I know it ain't a SF series, but any y'all got fond memories of this show? I just watched the first ep on Hulu.com, and boy was it a fun trip down memory lane!! Now I remember why I wanted him as Bond so badly.

I remember being a teen and enjoying the RS mysteries, the character interaction and the second theme tune

.... I enjoy mystery themed tv series (I saw quite a few Murder, She Wrotes and Columbo (the latter title was syndicated at the time)... I wish Universal would release the 1975 Ellery Queen series onto DVD. I have seen many mysteries on TV over the years

But back to Remington Steele ... I was fortunate to find the 4 boxed dvd sets comprising the 5 seasons(the fourth and fifth seasons are on the 4th set) at reasonable prices at deepdiscount.com and Best Buy

At the time, sarcasm in this form was not as hip, refined, or well practiced, in the TV format. Brosnan helped bring this form to the level it is today. Bruce Willis halped as well, but Bruce's dim costar couldn't hold up her weight.

Remington Steele was way cooler than Moonlighting because you could take it in more than one way- comedy, action, mystery, Moonlighting was just the Three Stooges mixed with the Marx Brothers, not much more.

But it made Die Hard possibleisall

I remember watching the show though, on BBC2 if I remember correctly. Always thought he should be Bond but it wasn't to be at the time. At least it happened later though as he was one of the best.
Good show that should have gotten better coverage over here.

Remmington Steele was my favorite show ( except for Spenser for Hire) and I think Stephanie Zimbalist was cast on the strength of her father Efram Zimbalist...

Anyway...love that show:)

I didn't hate him and he was certainly better than George Lazenby, but he's no where near as good as Pierce.

Oh I did love him in the Rocketeer:)

Bondwise there's Connery, and then there's Brosnan...they didn't get Clive Owen to take up after Brosnan, so barring any unknown quantities, I'm pretty much done with Bond, but, I do have lots of eps of Steele to re-discover, and that's the next best thing IMO!

Ah, Remington Steele. One of my all-time favorite shows. I've got the entire DVD series.

As soon as it came out on DVD, I started getting them and watching them. I was glad that the show didn't come across as really stupid so many years later!

My fantasy (if I win millions in the lottery) car is that Auburn.... sigh.

Dalton had the darker edge like Craig does. I actually think that his films 'failed' more because the audience and critics were not ready to accept a darker Bond than in the films themselves. Especially for License To Kill.

Dalton is also excellent in Hot Fuzz. A masterclass in how to eat up every scene he's in with a smack of the lips. Delicious.

I absolutely adored that show when I was a kid, and if I remember correctly it wasn't even on in English here! it was dubbed and it was still really cool!
Somehow the tone of shows back then was just different. Quite a surprise to watch them again though!! Watched MacGyver again the other day... I never noticed back then how he was running through girls and that the girls are all totally useless! I just loved the story! Ah, for the return of the innocence of youth!! :)

Nice to meet you too!

We have hulu.com, but generally the connection speed is a little slow, so its really annoying to watch. I tried to watch dr. horrible on hulu, but it was so choppy that I had to quit. Very disappointed! So now I still haven't seen it, and it looked so promising too, even if it had Doogie Houser in it!

That sometimes happens here too, but it seems to stop after 5 minutes or so.
But I bought Remington Steele season 2 (used) the other day, so, not so much having to deal with it.

Sorry I haven't responded before now, I totally lost track of this thread!

I think it holds up with the rest of the seasons.

However, the last season was very short as it got canceled, so they had to rush to get everything in that could tie up loose ends.

I thought all seasons were equally good, but the earlier seasons had the added appeal of learning the mysteries surrounding Mr. Steele and watching him grow into the role of an investigator who could keep up with Laura.
