The whole making friends with the cylons and the reveal of the final 4 to humanity felt rushed to me.

Not sure where they are going to go with this next year. I just hope they dont do a star trek wormhole back in time thing..

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

I don't think it surprising that it felt rushed since RDM and DE had originally conceived of the show for FIVE seasons.

On the other hand there were too many filler episodes that were just meandering and had little purpose.

We have only had the first half of season 4. The second half is still due. probably next year, with a "feature episode" beforehand.

With the lack of a real cliffhanger, will people's attention hold for that long?

"What happened to earth?" is a pretty good cliff-hanger.

Perhaps the question should be, "Is this really Earth?" They could be close enough for the constellations to appear correctly as far as Gaeta can tell, but not our Earth. Or possibly they are in an alternate universe. Did you note that they did not show the continents from orbit like they did in the Season Three finale, nor do they show our moon.

I could never bring myself to watch the original series completely, and I say that as someone who was an adult and already an SF fan when the show premiered in '78. I've tried several times since then but always give up. However, I have heard that they landed on Terra, which they originally thought was Earth, then later made it to Earth. Also, I don't know how the Ships of Light and Count Iblis figured into that story or whether RDM will introduce then into this version, but that could be one explanation for Starbuck's return.

I highly doubt it's Earth. According to legend/visions/etc (every one has come true so far), Roslin isn't supposed to survive and make it to Earth. Also, the fleet should be commanded by the Adama's (Admiral and President). Lee's role being foreshadowed in this past episode. So, I'd say that they aren't there yet.

Perhaps, they'll notice that the planets in orbit don't match what is in Starbuck's Viper. Perhaps they'll find another pointer on the planet. Perhaps... Won't know for a while.

At any rate, we know that there was a nuclear holocaust that happened a long time ago on that planet. Should be interesting to see what they do with that. It'll also be interesting to see what they do with the Saul/Six, Kara/Anders and Adama/Roslin relationships. It'll also be interesting to see what sort of deceit Tory Foster brings to the mix and what, if anything, they do to Baltar due to his admission.

It's what I love about character based shows. There's actually interesting instead of just showing "shiny" things.

REGINAROADIE

I know. That's kind of why I really loved this mid-season finale. Rather than continue to string the audiences patience along in regards to the final four revealing themselves and continuing the trek to Earth, they decide just to get it over with and then deal with the consequence. While it was cool to see Tigh confess to Adama that he's a Cylon, it was even more powerful to see Adama lose it completely and have a meltdown as the news that his life long friend and #1 Cylon hater was in fact a Cylon all along. And I'd love to see if Starbuck will in fact put a bullet between Ander's eyes.

While I think it may be a possibility that this is in fact not-Earth but another pit-stop, part of me wants it to be for real. And that the second half of the final season will be just everyone debating whether or not to just wait it out (the radiation levels didn't seem to be that high, so maybe they can colonize it) or keep going. And whether or not they will fight the remaining Cylon's over the radioactive ember that is the planet they've all been trying to get to.

I think this turn of events is equivalent to LOST finally doing flash-forwards. Where we see what happens when some of them do in fact go home and see how they cope with what has happened. The final shot of the entire cast on the charred remains of Earth is like Jack yelling "WE HAVE TO GO BACK!!!" This is where things get interesting.

LWAVES

I liked it and definitely not how I expected it to end. But it was good and didn't need a big 'Oh gods, oh gods, we're all gonna die' moment.
Tighs confession was great, Adamas reaction better, Starbuck must be so pissed now.

Just my take on this but....
I don't think it's Earth.

When Kara entered the airlock just as Tigh was about to be flushed she said "Those 3 frakkin' Cylons just gave us Earth."
Only three.
Now what if all the final five need to be together to 'create' the correct signal that can lead them there. Only three were currently on board Galactica at the time. Tori was on the Basestar.
Maybe that swayed the signal, maybe they need all five.
Deanna said that only four were amongst the fleet and she knows who the fifth is. Does this mean the fifth was already on the Basestar?
Roslin? Helo? Baltar? being the main cast nominees. Although I think Helo is out as they needed a human to mate with Sharon to create Hera.

But I agree it was nice that the four are out there now. That they didn't drag it out too long. Of course we still have the fifth to go....

Should be interesting.
