Chewbacca actor Peter Mayhew said that when he signed his contract to work in EPISODE III, there was a clause that he would be "required" to work in EPISODES VII, XIII and IX of the STAR WARS film series.

I shudder at the thought of a 7, 8 and 9. I mean, how awful can they get and still get me to go watch them. While I did see the EPs I and II once but EP IV 10 times or more. I saw them to see where the story goes but couldn't see them again. I believe that puppets or people in costume are more believeable than CGI characters due to actor human charactics that are put into their characters. In LOTR, Gollum was a totally CGI character, but there was a man in a costume that interacted with the main actors and created more believable scenes. Besides, what story is there to be told since the Empire was defeated and the (New) Republic is (re) established. Here's one, In spite of their best efforts to prevent a future where the machines take over, the machines still win anyway. No, wait, that is 'The Terminator.'

We got you partially surrounded.

Just as long as I don't have to wait so long for each new installlment to come out, I'll be happy.
Maybe Lucas should give this potential project up to a different director who can do it in real time, not Lucas-time.

actually if the movies for 7, 8, and 9 followed the books, then the story for them is awesome, but seering as how they cant make good movies anymore i am sure they would screw it up.

As long as Lucas neither writes nor directs the third trilogy episodes...

They could be good!

yeah, but which books? The main characters are too old for any of the closely following books. I suppose they could take a story from the books and just set it a bit further out.

I think that making some of the better novels (Black Fleet Crisis Trilogy in particular) into movies would be great, but they gave us the Prequels, which actually conflicted with some of the books' 'canon'. That fact ticked me off to no end, as did Jar Jar Binks, the childish gags, the overabundance of CGI effects, the wierd midriclorian thing... let's just say that I wasn't entranced with them. Episode 3 will have to be really good to get me back to the Star Wars fan ranks.

When Lucas originally spoke about this back in the 80s he said that it would be centered around The children of the original cast. Of course he also said in an interview that there would be 9 total then 12 total then 6 total so who knows. Besides by the time he writes them the people will be less interested in space sagas cause we will be living on Mars and visiting with little green men from other systems.

Exactly, just yesterday we heard on the news that we are planning to be living on the moon and sending manned shuttles from there to mars by 2020. Lucas will take another 4 years for each movie, (If he makes them -- damn his procrastinating hide) that's 12 years... 2016+!

Word is that George Lucas has given the rights to any future SW projects (i.e. Eps 7, 8, 9) to his adopted son, and he will have the power to do with them as he wishes.

LOL *keeps reading the entries*

Ok, well I have to agree that Star Wars went down hill with eps 1 and 2 (though I liked 1 cuz I totally fell in love with Qui-Gon, but then he died, so it lost what credit I would have given it) They were all about the CG and it took away from the story. Plus, I can't stand young Anikin
They made his lines too dorky, and the whole part with him flying this spaceship and blowing up the entire spacestation? *cough* yeah right.
Sorry, Lucas, you blew it. Should have quit while you were ahead and stuck with the original three.
Oh... and FIREFLY ROCKS!

There are rumors that Spielberg wants to direct the next trilogy and that if he did he would shoot all three back to back like The Lord Of The Rings. The entire original cast is excited to do it with the exception of Harrison Ford. Ford has said he would do it out of loyalty for Lucas because he gave him his start with Star Wars and Indiana Jones but he would want a smaller part or be killed off. I personally have enjoyed the prequels so far and to see the original gang together again with Spielberg at the helm would be fantastic.

I just want to say this as one of the many die hard SW fans. When I was a kid and I would be stuck at home sick I would climb on the couch and watch all three back to back. I LOVE those movies.

Again, that said. MAKE IT STOP!!!! DEAR GODDESS PEASE JUST MAKE IT STOP!!!!!!!!

Ep one and two were enough to make me want to stab my eyes out. When I watched Ep.One I thought "cant possibly get any worse!"

How very wrong I was.

So, to save society and the known 'verse from this insanity I beg you, don't do any more damage than has already been done. 'Cause I know, if they do make 7,8,&9 I will go and see them out of the hope that maybe this time it will be different. And again I will be struck with the urge to stab my eyes out.

I dunno... I think Lucas had the Tim Zahn trilogy in mind as the "canon" storyline for 7,8, and 9 - and those take place only 5 years after the end of Jedi. Ford, Fisher, and Hamill wouldn't be able to reprise their roles - they've aged too much. I don't know that I'd really want to see sequels that didn't include Harry, Carrie, and Mark.

Maybe I'm just an overzealous Star Wars fan, but that's more plausible if you remember that he has the Force on his side, and that the Trade Federation Ships are crappy converted cargo ships with easily explodable reactors. Though young Anakin was an annoying

I thought episode 2 was much better than Episode 1. My expectations were lower, and they had a lot less Jar Jar Binks. Plus there wasn't as happy an ending. And the denizens of Naboo are annoying.

The thing that really irritated me was that the prequel scripts short-changed Ian McDarmid's role as Senator (then Emperor) Palpitine. I really think that he did a great job in the Original Trilogy, and Lucas should have given him more of a role in the prequels. Instead we got loads of dumb Gungans and CGI.

I would personally much rather see a series that covers the books in chronological order with the production values of something like Farscape Firefly of Babylon 5. it would be dificult to cast but I think it could be good. If it had to be films though Id like to see something in the New Jedi Order time period and everyone would be roughly the right age. Condensing a ninteen book series into a trilogy though... woo.

Id almost say the reavers because you never actually see them but in the end I'd always go for the Vong because we actually do see them. And for the mere existence of Onimi's creepy up Dr. Seuss poems.

And speaking of nineteen I think that before any more Star Wars films Id like to see a good film adaptation of Stephen King's: The Dark Tower series. If done well they could rival LotR and the original trilogy in terms of sci-fi/fantasy epic.

While I do agree that Lucas has no idea how to use CGI appropriately I know that at least Jar Jar did have a actor in suit interacting with the actors.

I'd like to see 3 more star wars movies but only if they got someone far more talented than Lucas doing them not that I think it'll happen anytime soon.

I so hope that they don't do three more eps (or gut the whole of Lucasfilms and put a whole new crew in (including writers and directers)).

Episode 1 I liked cuz I could drool over Ewan McGreggor but that was the only reason. Little Anakin just irks me.

Episode 2 I felt like barfing 5 minutes into it. Did you all see the way Anakin looked at Padme? He looked like he could literally cut her up and eat her. yuck. The acting in Ep 2 was worse acting than was in Ep 1.

However, on the off chance that there are going to be 3 more episodes of Star Wars, I hope they stay away from the series "New Jedi Order". That series is the one book series that I thought sucked big time. I liked the books that came before that series cropped up though. And I hope that they get someone other than Lucas to write and direct them. Cuz his writing and directing just about made me in Episode 2.

I've been trying to read every Star Wars novel in existence in chronological order. So far I'm at the Lando Calrissian adventures. In a year or so I'll get to the original trilogy. At this rate, they write books faster than I can read them.

Hey, this is part of his descent into darkness. And you shouldn't watch Star Wars for the acting. The reason it's cool is because of its wondrous setting, with all its interconnected story lines.

If 7,8 and 9 get made they should be the new Jedi Order. The yuuhzan Vong are way evil and the timeline would fit with the age of the old cast(Ford, Hammil, Fisher).

I named my children after Han and Leias kids in the books(Jaina & Jacen). The force is indeed powerful in them though they stray into the dark side all too often...

Yes but how can we pay attention to the wonderful story lines if every five minutes we want to stab the actors in an attemp to get a real reaction out of them? The acting has to be good enough so that we dont see it. I for one need at least a token effort of good acting so that I can actually watch what the story is about insted of constantly being reminded that these are actors on a movie set who have been told to go do X.

In 4-6 the acting was good. I'm sure that their preformance would not be considered the greatest bit of acing history but it was good. that is ALL I ask for.

Lucas, is that too much to ask for? Not Fantastic, wonderful, out of this world. Just good.

X-Wing Rogue Squadron would make an interesting TV series if Lucasfilm were to go that direction. They would need Dennis Lawson to reprise his role as an older Wedge Antilles leading a new generation of rebel pilots. Think Space:Above & Beyond meets Star Wars. Throw in a guest appearance by Mark Hamill as Jedi Master Luke Skywalker to boost ratings and there you go. I would prefer Lucasfilm to go slightly "old skool" with the special effects, though. The space battles could be CGI, but the live action scenes should be just that.

MARAJADE

i agree with astriana, timothy zahn wrote the ultimate sequels to our beloved episodes 4,5 & 6. if they are going to do a trilogy that takes place after harry, carrie, and mark...then they should do tim zahn's version. But, i don't think they will, because lucas had the perfect opportunity to tip his hat to zahn during the not-so-special "special" ROTJ edition, and didn't. lucas remade scenes in jabba's palace, yet did not include mara jade. he added a really, really lame singing and dance number, with new characters and faces, yet did not add mara jade, when he clearly could have. it was offensive to me, because zahn wrote a trilogy that lucas has wet dreams about. that is my two cents on this matter, i will get down from my soap box now. thanks.
*oh, yeah! Firefly is the greatest show. it will live forever*
