My first thought was 'Ooh, the Battle of Sturges...'

Is that just me?

(And can anyone else imagine an small ship dodging the hell away from that as fast as possible? With a doppler effect of Mandarin cursing, and shedding small and essential pieces of bodywork...)

I take it you guys have seen "Star Wreck - In The Pirkinning"?

http://www.starwreck.com/

I thought the filming, sets, makeup and (especially) FX were stunning for a fan movie (I think its stretching it to call it amateur) although the plot and acting... hey, did I tell you that the filming, sets, makeup and FX were stunning? (To be fair to the actors - they're Oscar standard c.f. your typical fan vid, and if doing comedy is hard, doing comedy when you're speaking Finnish and most of your audience is reading the subtitles must be really hard).

Anyway, it features a first-rate B5 vs. Star Trek smackdown!

The "propaganda video" sequence was pretty cool, too (and I think this was before Enterprise did something rather similar in the mirror universe episode).

Jawhol!!!

Dead I am the one, Exterminating son
Slipping through the trees, strangling the breeze
Dead I am the sky, watching angels cry
While they slowly turn, conquering the worm

Dig through the ditches,
And burn through the witches
I slam in the back of my
Dragula

Dig through the ditches,
Burn through the witches
I slam in the back of my
Dragula

The Band of the week is... Rob Zombie

Gott weiß ich will kein Engel sein.

TRAVELER

3D is not easy. I am a 3D draftsman and the programs got more glitches then James T. Kirk has lives. I can imagine when you have to create image upon image to give the impression of movement. It would be simple if it was just one object, but to have different vessels moving in various directions and changes of speed. The explosions must take extra effort to produce because of the multiple fragments breaking apart and spreading out like a fireworks display. A lot of time and patience are put into tose effects. Reminds me of the work they did with celluloid and ink. Making a background and then creating frame after frame of images to produce a scene for one those Bugs Bunny or Daffy Duck cartoons. But there are people out there who can just sit and paste these scenes together. I give them credit. Is Pixar still doing this? They used to be the ones to go to for this kind of imagining.

Yep, that's from SpaceBattles.com! Awesome, huh!

You can find a whole lot more crossovers like that on their site.

Sadly, the site hasn't been updated in over 5 years, and a lot of the video links are broken.
